Harper Dune & Finn Rosado from the Rainbow High Pacific Coat line were shelf warmers here in the U.K, being priced way higher than Phaedra Westward doll who was a lot cheaper than them.

This makes me think of Zombie Gaga. I recently put alerts in Mercari and eBay. I realized quickly that she is not HTF OR rare. These absurd prices for her were essentially established and sustained by all the people willing to pay. Great video!

I'm so glad that someone said this because it also drives me nuts. Adults can collect something else if they don't like what's currently on offer. As someone else said, it also makes me sad that kids do not get the same quality of dolls that existed when I was a kid, but if people want different body types, face molds, hair textures, and so on, something else is going to have to go at the lower price points. You will have to pay more if you want more features, which will probably mean buying less stuff. I respect what Fashionistas is doing, and it must be working given that other dolls lines want to riff on their success (Naturalistas, Latinistas, Stylistas . . .)

Bratz was made to take out Barbie, then My Scene Dolls was created to take out Bratz and now the Besties are here, Mattel has been defending Barbie from all other competitive doll brands since the 60s, I believe Mattel has the right to defend Barbie. PERIOD 💅🏽✨

I've thought about launching my own channel just to be able to connect with other collectors. Possibly document on video the process of setting up my space and displays and talking about each category. Also, sharing what I've learned over the years. 🤔 I also love puppetry and stop motion animation. I really try to consider if I love a doll and if she fits into my collection before I buy her. I only started collecting last year, but feel already that I need to take a break and just appreciate the dolls I have. So I'm trying not to actively want or look for anything

As an avid Barbie collector I have to say I 100% agree with you! It blows my mind that people complain about the fashionistas or the color reveal dolls! The target demo is CHILDREN! I will say my only point of contention is that when I was a kid in the 90s even my $8.00 Barbie’s knees would bend. And it’s clear that even for the kid lines that share holders and corporate overlords are 100% only interested in maximizing the profit where they can. When I hear complaints about the “cheap clothes” or unimaginative designs I’m like “uhhhhh this doll is $9.00 WTF do you want from it?” When something like a 17” limited edition Disney doll has a clear step down in quality for the same $150.00 then you get to complain. When a rainbow high doll has glitter on her face it’s just how they want to market it to kids it is what it is. Again my basic and only issue with play line dolls now is that kids today do have an objectively lesser product than I had in my childhood. And it’s just sad to see.

All I can say is when I was a little girl I started getting dolls late 90s early 2000s and black really all colored dolls were very easy to find then. I had tons of Barbie dolls of all colors. Most of my black friends told me they did not like and would not buy dolls that look like them and reached for the blonde ones instead. So they did not sale well at least in my area or at least from their targeted audience. For me it was much harder to find a doll that looked like me dark hair olive skin and light blue or green eyes. I almost always had to buy Barbie’s friend Teresa. Yes there was still a ton of blonde hair blue eyed dolls on the shelf but so was the others. Which is why I loved Bratz so much when they came out Jade, Yasmine and then later introducing Dana. Mixed looking dolls were a bit harder to find Mattel eventually started making a lighter skinned Christie and then Nikki oh and Kelly had a friend their were no stacies (and still aren’t in that skin tone and only 1 or 2 aa skippers with the lighter more mixed skin tone. Nevra from Bratz was the first time continuously seeing a mixed looking doll or Madison from Myscene. Now Mattel probably makes more mixed/racially ambiguous dolls than any other.

Ever after high were mattel dolls I think you might be confused with mga storyline princess which came before ever after high ❤

Dream besties do remind me a lot of bratz and ever after high mixed together I suppose they could be my sence but bratz came before my sence but diva stars came before bratz so that's why we had the lawsuit.

As far moving goes I totally get it while I was renting I had to downsize all the time which was awful niw that I'm getting my own place I'm going to be picky so I can stop downsizing every year.❤ ❤❤❤❤

These days as a adult collector I'm mostly focused on american girl dolls. I used to collect more fashion dolls but I honestly didn't use them for much. I play mire with american girl. I have some fashion dolls I love from various brands but from now on I'll have to be very picky about which fashion dolls I'll be adding. ❤

I feel like I'm growing out if playline dolls and I'm honestly ok with that. I'm not the target audience for them. So if I'm not interested in mist modern dolls I'll just buy vintage it's nit a big deal. ❤

Resellers can be very disgusting when it comes to pricing black dolls ❤

When I was a chikd you could hardly ever find black dolls in stores and it made me very sad. Though times have changed you can go to stores now and find black dolls.

As an american girl collector I've noticed there's definally a lot of people interested in dolls just because they ate black dolls. Owning a black doll has become a status symbol so that not many actual black people can buy them. I like black dolls but not to the point that I'd want to take one away from someone that needs one. ❤

Prove it. In Wal-Mart I see plenty of darker dolls that have great prices, and they even have doll brands for only nonwhite customers. So I say prove it with facts

I collect Rainbow/Shadow High dolls and yes...the pressure to buy every doll is real not only from the influencers but their viewers too. I absolutely fell in love with the diversity and fashions of series 2-5 of RH and series 1&2 of Shadow High. However...I absolutely do not like MGA's re-boot of the core RH dolls for many reasons. I don't care how many people post about how much they like the new lines...RH going forward is dead to me. I'll enthusiastically still try to obtain certain ones from the releases up to this year. I don't want a room crammed full of dolls. I have a lovely medium-sized collection that I love dearly.

I feel you bring up valid points. But it is the nature of being a toy collector content creator. Unless your working with one of the brands to get free PR products, buying dolls for views is the main way to stay relevant. It’s a lot. It’s why there aren’t many doll collector creators.

I think the new line of Dream Besties will be a hit, I just hope they aren't short like the Bratz dolls. Lots of doll collectors prefer the 12" Barbie line.

I don't think MGA has anything to worry about with these new dolls. Mainly because at the end of the day, MGA doesn't use cheap materials such as polypropylene hair or printed on details for bratz. I feel "dream besties" because of poor quality will die off after the holidays like the wild Hearts crew dolls.

I Seen a post Mr.Issac put up about these dolls and he was not happy or pleased about it he gave they tried it again, it feels like he is definitely going back to court.This line is definitely Mattel scraps they will probably give poor quality but cute.

its also crazy how the ambassadors are hyping flickplay up like the best thing in the world, I have not seen another collector by now who shared anything about flickplay, I dont lime the concept of spending money for digital things, and then also the same amount a real thing would cost 🥲

I just started collecting officially. As I always loved dolls and had dolls but just started networking with doll communities. I am disheartened to learn that even in a space that should bring nothing but joy, the outside world is still rearing its ugly head. I’m not naive to the world as it’s always been, but just the thought that it shows in this space is heartbreaking. It literally never ends. Not even a little.

I'm old as the sea, so I've started and stopped many collections over the years. Your explanations/reasons make total sense and I think they're really well thought out. A collection that you no longer enjoy, or feel overwhelmed by, or feel burdened by isn't a thing to keep around. Change is so important for a full life y'know what I mean? Totally valid to let things go once they stop being 'useful' and to change patterns that no longer serve their original purpose.

I agree, every dolls are so pretty in they own way and ofc they have many bright colors because KIDS LOVE bright colors.

i feel lile these arguments come more fom collectors then people who just like and enjoy dolls. collectors like to currate a specific niché but people who kimda just like dolls just take them at face value. the thing is dolls where made for kids and aslo the fact that some collectors act like kids arnt allowed to enjoy them as did they when they where a child is odd to me

Thats what I think all the time, if rich people would stop paying ridiculous prices, the prices must go down but sadly rich people dont care. Also sometimes people just charge high prices and ither people go with that, that the dolls just dont exist anymore at lower prices

I live in Eastern Europe so 95% of people here are white and 5% are foreigners, and I must admit - dark skin dolls are selling as good as light skin dolls! I was so happy to see that children here do not choose dolls by color, but becasue fashion, their personality etc.! 😃For example RH, OMG and MH dark skin color dolls are wery popular!😊

I liked your video. I have to say that I never realized that I actually watched the first Bratz babies movie ever until I saw this video!!! I loved that movie without knowing those were the Bratz!!! I also watched other Bratz babies movies (already knowing those were them), but I am so surprised!
