Welcome to our channel.
This channel is dedicated to life on the old Talbot ranch.
It's been left to grow wild for about 35 years now, and I'm finally at a point in my life where I feel like I can, and need, to put some blood, sweat, and tears into turning it into what I've always dreamed of it being.
Feel free to join us on this journey. There will be lots of learning along the way, but we will just keep plugging along until we make it happen.

Building the First Wall: Foggy Mornings & Family Breakfast and a Successful Hunt
Join us for another episode of our cabin-building series! We start with a foggy morning and a cozy campfire breakfast with my son Everett and our dog Daisy. After breakfast, my friend and helper Tucky arrives, and we get to work.
The day takes an unexpected turn when Everett heads out hunting and drives the ranch Honda into a tree pretty hard-luckily, he’s okay! We didn’t catch it on camera, but it definitely added a little chaos to the day.
After that, we get back to work using the backhoe to lift and install a staircase for the cabin, then begin building the first wall with some reclaimed oak lumber. It’s a day full of family, hard work, and surprises!
Stay tuned for more updates on the cabin build and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe! Have you ever had something unexpected happen on your projects? Let me know in the comments below!

Cabin Build Chaos: Tarp Fail, Falcon Sighting & Backhoe Repair
Переглядів 10821 годину тому
Welcome back to our ongoing cabin-building series! In this episode, we kick things off with a casual 'good morning' and dive into trying to cover the freshly installed wood on the porch with a tarp. But there's a twist-our tarp is too small! As if that wasn’t enough, the rain starts pouring, adding to the challenge. While dealing with the weather, I also get a surprise nature moment when I spot...

Awesome
Merry Christmas. All praise to Jesus.
OK, you made me go out to my garage at take a look at my own Klein. Usually tape measures have two loose rivets for the hook. Mine has three. Suggest all your guys switch to Klein.

Love the updates! Keep on rocking it Matt.
@AirgunAdvisor Thank you, sir. I'm trying! It's been too damn hot, but I'm ready to make some progress this fall.
Water is a good thing! You can have all of mine. :-(
@jagboy69 i feel your pain, buddy. I don't think i would have been brave enough to take on your project.

@@Fubar684 done!
Hey just so you know, i was down there Saturday morning and there were 6 lined up in a row on a log and i swear all of them had their tongues out like they were mocking you!
Awesome progress! Miss you guys! Keep up the great work!
@@Hauk_Unlimited miss you too brother!
Keep digging Matt! From someone that knows about 9feet, you probably have hit the seasonal water table. I'd expect that water to rise and fall, but I doubt it will be enough for your needs.
@jagboy69 we dug down to about 15 feet since then and hit hard bottom. I bought a 4400 GPH submersible pump, and it took 4 hours to bring the level down to the point where the pump was just partially out of the water. It held that level with a constant flow of water out of the hose. It was really cool to see the waterfall of water around the edge of the hole, keeping it filled up.
@@TalbotLakeInheritance ya might stand a chance! Levels here in town are the lowest it's been in months.
Can't wait to have some apples off that tree soon. The last bit of the video was pretty sweet. The song was a nice touch too. I really miss him.
Love it!

I only had the pleasure of meeting Alex once but I could feel his kind soul that the tattoos couldn't cover up. You're a good man Matt and you did everything you could and more than most anyone would have. Past demons run deep and sometimes, too often, get the best of us. Rest peacefully Alex.
Thank you brother!
😂😂😂
Great video ! Nice little mill you have be careful of them bolts in them poles ! I'm just learning my way along too :) I only have 92hrs on my Woodland HM122 , I find it easier to judge what I'm going to get a lot like you , But I find always loading the log small end to the mill easier & then if there is much tapper in the log i lift the small end & put 1/2" or 3/4" to split the difference for 1st & 3rd cuts , I can usually save a 1" that would otherwise be slab, Them poles make awesome lumber if you don't hit bolts !
Thank you, sir. I, too, have been lifting the small end up a bit.
@@TalbotLakeInheritance Yes it's amazing what these little mills can do :) But ya lifting them gives me a couple slabs about the same thickness nice to use on other projects :)
Why do they call it a can't instead of a can?
Lol, cause i can't lift it!
Thx for sharing
Thanks for watching!
