hi friends :)
i made this video for my future salley baes but also for anyone who is curious about salley hall at fsu! i remember searching stuff up on youtube when i was about to move in and i couldn't find anything that was actually helpful to me and showed the dorm, so i am trying to change that lol. salley genuinely is not that bad, and i overall loved living there, and had a great experience and i feel like living in salley enhanced my florida state experience. as always feel free to comment or dm me (@allidenison on insta) with any questions or feedback :)

As I recall, Sally Hall is the only dorm that has a fast-food restaurant at the front entrance. Is the fast-food place on the first floor still called Stone Willy's?

It not raining is a definite con. That means it's bright all the time I had that issue where I had an actual doctor's note and my professors were like "oh you missed a few classes ten points off every day and no makeup exams."

heyyy great video! i also made a video about living in salley hall my freshman year & had similar pros and cons (except having to leave at the beginning of covid lol)! honestly if salley only had 2 people to a dorm instead of 4, everything else would be more tolerable! either way, i genuinely LOVED the idea of the common room and my roommates became besties haha
You can get into Ragans as a freshman its just not likely!

hii!! at the end you mentioned you being in salley next year? can you not reapply for a different residence hall ur sophmore year, or if u wanna stay on campus, you have to keep ur freshman year hall ??
hi !! i am actually living off campus next year, but i think i might've cut the clip weird so it ended up saying i was staying in salley again lol (editing is not my strong suit) but you get a different housing assignment every year!! i don't personally know of anyone who was assigned a first-year dorm two years in a row, but i'm sure it can happen. so you do not need to keep your freshman hall! you will likely get an upgrade because you will have more credits and your classification will not be first-year anymore!! thank you so much for commenting !

My daughter got Salley Hall and I am disgusted….
i'm sorry ! it definitely is the worst dorm but i really did end up enjoying my time there. she should be able to request a room change through the housing portal though, so there may still be hope at getting a better dorm!
@@allidenison222 room change requests start in July, im hoping she gets it, but she has her roommate, too. I’m the one going In to clean the room and bathroom for her, so I feel my OCD having a panic attack….fingers crossed she can switch to somewhere better. @@andream1393 thank you so much! i'm glad you like the videos and i'm so happy i was able to help. salley maintenance does clean the whole apartment really good before move in and i believe they swap the air filters out too, as long as your daughter and her roomates/suitemates are relatively clean, everything should be okay! in my entire year of living there i only saw one roach in our room (there are a bunch in the stairwell though) and i felt like it was fine. i would 1000000% recommend getting an air purifier though, because the air quality is pretty bad, i got a mooka one and it was amazing. good luck with everything and i would be happy to answer any other questions you have !!
@@andream1393 If all else fails, your daughter can apply for a spring dorm reassignment around November. I was in Salley and had a bad roommate situation so I applied to move, luckily I got switched to Wildwood for spring 22! I wish you and your daughter the best of luck!

She went to orientation and they were in degraded hall and no locks to lock the other room out of the room from the bathroom m, and stuff already got stolen and she had horrible allergy issues in there, and that was 2 nights. Praying for a room assignment. And, thanks for the tip!

as someone who had wildwood last year (my first year) i agree highly that it’s just average. like it was great, i made tons of friends, the most annoying part was having to walk up a hill no matter what direction you go😂

my housing number was 5500 or something really bad HAHA but i honestly don't mind living in salley it gets hated on but its an ok dorm <3
@@allidenison222 so I have not gotten accepted or anything yet, I’m still waiting on my decision. But should I put a down payment down first before getting my decision is released? Like the money is not an issue for me, I just want to make sure I secure a decent housing number. Have you heard of anybody doing this and if you have would you recommend it? Or do you know if it’s even possible?
@@morganmay9238 hey! i don't know if this is something that you are able to do if you haven't been accepted yet tbh! but honestly if you want to put a deposit down, as long as you do it relatively soon after receiving your decision letter you will likely get a good dorm!

Yeah you can’t get into Traditions or Rogers freshman year. But you can as a returning student 😊
this is true! with the exception of the class of 2025, they actually used rogers as overflow for freshmen this year since our incoming class was so big!! traditions was still for the returning students though!
FSU women's soccer won the championship in December. The softball team has also won it all recently and could do it again this year. A woman's distance runner just won a track championship. So, there is current success in the overall athletic realm - just not football recently. As for that slump, I am much older (FSU MPH 08) and recall the many disappointments during the Chris Rix Era of the early 2000s. Bowden's success of the 90s didn't persist into the 21st century. Hence, he retired and Jimbo came along and won it all again (albeit with the controversies of "some" (not all) of his players at the time). FSU football will likely surge back at some point - but it may take a few years or longer. One stereotype of FSU out west now that I returned to AZ (home state) is that it's just a party school. But the STEM courses were ludicrously difficult when I was there like biochemistry, computer science, mechanical engineering, etc. I spent many hours in Dirac Science Library. Best wishes!
