Much love and ❤Respect for #thefentonfamily. sharing this Amazing video
Here is a bit of Fenton History. I married a young man who's father lived and grew up in Marietta, Ohio across the river from the small town that was home to Fenton Art Glass. My father in laws name was Frank Fenton Duncan. I seem to remember there was some connection between them but that was so long ago.......perhaps school.....I am not sure. I do know my father in laws home was full of the beautiful vases, lamps, punch bowls, candle sticks and on and on. I suppose every home in the town was. Many of the pieces I inherited and passed them along to my daughters. A few of examples were giving to me by my husbands Grandmother......these pieces are some of the very first soft pink colored glass. They were a pair of pink milk glass baby booties not with hobnails but looked more like cut designs..She told me not long before she passed, that they were given to her when her husband, recovered a chair for Mr. Fenton. He was Mr. Collins, and he was a master upholstered and restorer. I remember it was in the depression years. I am 82 now so they are a treasure to me.
That's interesting. I grew up and currently live in Williamstown (home of Fenton). I wonder if Frank Fenton Duncan of Marietta was a nephew or cousin of the Fenton family who had the factory. For many years the factory was run by Frank Fenton.
6:30 There's too many people. A 2nd blocker? If 24 people made that vase, it's not "handmade". And why does the guy that puts the handle on get to put his name on it? So many things wrong here.
I have four lamps and a lot of pieces.
I Ave been to the West Virginia glass factory several times.
Thanks so much for sharing this information!! So amazing learning about Fenton
Dang. This is wild to see
Holy shit. Thanks Shane! Got any old Reverb eps? 😂
I have some tapes of interviews (Gigolo Aunts, Madder Rose, etc), but the audio is barely there on the tape.
@ dang. Would still love to see them.
During the pandemic, I started to go to antique shows and I encountered Fenton glass for the first time. It was so beautiful, I bought as much as I could. My favorite piece is a little carnival glass pink basket in the drapery pattern with a black carnival glass crest. I now have a big collection of Fenton fairy lamps too.
It said hobnail perfume bottles and then showed a moonstone bottle, didnt it? 🤔
They showed their opalescent hobnail. Hobnail is the shape.
Super sad they didn't make it. Sorry we let you down, Fenton.
Not me actually crying over the loss. Absolutely tragic, but since they are still TECHNICALLY a company (producing jewelry) maybe not ALL has been lost
Great video thanks for posting
4:25 that something I didn't know
Wish it was in a better resolution but is old so I get why
Think of how far our band could have gone. Apparently the kids lost sight of how important they were to the town and said the band director was too strict and then once it got to the parents it was all but over. I remember being so together as a town and all the kids working so hard at whatever it was they were doing that the band brought a lot of pride. It used to be such a proud thing to see all the kids out practicing in the yard during summer break and then to see it come together on the field just felt so good. I will forever remember the good times growing up here but it is bitter sweet knowing how much has changed. Oh yea……FIRST DOWN WILLIAMSTOWN!!
This documentary is just amazing! This is such an important part of USA art glass history. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm so glad this video will be around for generations to come so Fenton will always be remembered.
Epic!!!
All so beautiful I love it all I've got a few pieces myself 😮
So sad that they closed down. They made such gorgeous glass!
I love Fenton and all the styles
Fascinating. Skill is everything
I love fenton.
Just stopped by to mourn the loss of a great company. Will cherish the pieces I have until it's time to part with them.
Great documentary!!!
We're growing, hopefully we can get back to the size we were back then.
I miss working there. It was nice to see all the familiar faces in this video.
I love fenton art glass is very beatiful items God bless this expectacular families to tradicional glass industries
If married to him you could have all of the pieces!
I used to go to this school but I moved. This is a cool video though
I currently go to williamstown high school, its cool to see the older band and y ier uniforms
TFS! 👍👍👍👍👍✌️❤️👏👏👏👏🙏🏼 love ❤️❤️ Fenton Glass!!!😁
Thank You for this awesome video
The loss of Fenton is incalculable for the United States arts and cannot be replaced!
Are there still in production...?:(
@giangstr Unfortunately, no, they shut down.
We are big collectors of beautiful Fenton glassware. A quality family company of great skill and artistry. Milton, Ontario, CANADA
Fenton made some beautiful glass and I always enjoyed my vists to the factory to watch the making of the glass and of course to make numerous purchases.
How old is this? I thought they were only making beads now. The pieces from their past are great.
This is from the early 2000's, I believe. I'm not sure they are even making beads now. They do still have a gift shop that sells glass pieces manufactured by other companies but hand-painted at the gift shop by Fenton artists.
@@csking1973 I think it was a true loss when they had to close. My dad is a collector of their figurines.
I love the Fenton pieces which I have. In this vid they actually showed o piece I have, but in another color. My very favorite is one of their lamps which I think was called Gone With the Wind. It is a kind of dusty rose color, and it is in my bedroom. I’m so sorry they are no longer making such lovely things. Makes me sad. I truly enjoyed this vid.
@@jayneneewing2369 I have that lamp in the rose. It is a treasure.
@@beverlydavid581 - I wonder how many of those were made. I bought mine in the early 1990s. I’d seen it in a store in a local mall and wanted it so much. It was, as I recall, $450.00, and it seemed so expensive. Then the store was going out of business, and I grabbed it. I don’t recall exactly what they were asking, but I think it was $350.00. They only had the one. I was lucky I got to it before anyone else did. My son and his best friend carried it out to the car for me. I was ecstatic to own it. Brought it home, put the boxes in the garage as I was thinking I would get new bedroom furniture. I was fortunate to have stored it, because rather shortly after we had a 6.7 (I think it was) big ol’ earthquake here in So Cal . It was called the Northridge quake. I live n the west, and north end of the San Fernando Valley. Things really shook. But my beautiful lamp did not break. It was perfect in the boxes. Never did get that new bedroom furniture. I’m happy with what I eventually got, and brought out our lamp! Nowadays even my son (in his mid 30s, really loves our lamp here in my bedroom. Did you buy yours n that time period? What state do you live in? If I was technologically savvy I’s take a photo f mine and send it to you. But aren’t we lucky gals to own such a beautiful lamp? Let me know, please!
My husband always gets a piece from Fenton when we come home to WV. He’s an Indiana native and likes watching the glass blowing
Greatest toy ever made
My daughter is in there 😱😱😱
how many members were there? i think we have 28 this year not including drum major. i play clarinet right now
I believe we had close to 100 members, give or take. We would usually take two buses on band trips.
I hated the music for that year, I think my favorite was the year of Aztec Fire.....etc
My brother-in-law, Dave White, played football for the jackets and would have been a senior in this game. Do you have any more footage from the senior half-time? Such as footage of the football players? Thank you!
Dave was in my graduating class! I was a band kid, and these videos were from a tape that was sold to families at the time. So, unfortunately I don't have any footage of the football seniors. Sorry. Tell Dave I said hello.
Looks so cool back then I’m in 10th grade now
