I’ve been researching into making my own backpack recently… these have been some of the most informative videos whilst also being nicely simple to follow, great work and thanks a lot for the content!
Isn't sewing the shoulder strap too close to the edge too concerning?
What is the mesh for?
try a carpenter's chalk box for layout, the different colors of chalk (white, blue, red, black) indicate permanency of the mark, significantly faster
1:03 This guys got no business being caked up like that
Thanks for the video! How many yards total fabric did this take?
Thank you SO very much for this video! This really helped me out.
Muy interesante felicidades y gracias por compartir saludos
What’s the sewing machine you’re using?
How many liters would you estimate the pack holds? Sorry if I missed that in an earlier video.
hey where did you buy all these materials from?
Very informative, so glad I stumbled on your channel. I'm attempting my first pack and needed help. Thanks for sharing !!
How did you sew and reinforce the buckle above the front pocket? I didn't see it in any of your videos.
What program do you use to draw the design?
Love the video. Wish you didn't stop uploading!
Did you ever publish a video on stuffing the down into the quilt? This step seems the most intimidating to me. Thanks!
awesome tutorial, going to make one of these. will hit your website
Damn that's so cool. I'd love to learn the basics of sewing to bring my personal take on a backpack to life too :D. Well if you for some weird Reason want to learn basics in 3D printing, lasercutting, woodworking or rapid prototyping I welcome you at my workshop maybe in return you can give me a sewing lesson ? ☺️ Anyways well done !
Always willing to lend a helping hand!
brilliant video, what sewing machine do you use?
We have a small army of them - But the main one we use is a Singer 401a. It does most of the small work but if we need to sew something thick/robust, we turn to the Singer 211.
It's hard to hear you on this video
Appreciate the feedback, Steve. We will try using a mic on the next one!
I love how you just throw your stuffs around😂😂
a tip: watch movies on instaflixxer. Been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Judah Keith definitely, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself =)
@Judah Keith yea, have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
@Judah Keith Yea, I have been using instaflixxer for since december myself =)
@Judah Keith Definitely, been using InstaFlixxer for months myself =)
Do you have any videos of you sewing the front lycra pocked onto the pack or and links to videos which show a good explanation?
I don’t remember if that’s in the series or not, but it’s relatively simple. Make sure the width is the same as the front panel, sew it on and then proceed with the rest of assembly per usual.
NIce work! How many hours did it take you start to finish?
Not really sure honestly. I would say the longest part was the planning and filming. Once you get in a groove, you forget how long/quick it goes :)
This is cool. I'm learning all about making my own gear and I'm gonna use this for sure.
pro tip : watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Cooper Kane Yea, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :D
@Cooper Kane definitely, I've been using Flixzone} for since december myself :)
dude! awesome Video! thank you for sharing such useful information with folks!! that's badassssss
I love your videos about packs. I'm currently digging into building my own pack with HyperD 300 to start with, and exploring pricier options once I get a project under my belt and figure out what tweaks I want to make.
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch newly released movies online?
@Preston Immanuel Flixportal :P
@Manuel Eliseo Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!!
@Preston Immanuel Happy to help :D
Well done!
Very very cool project! Thanks for sharing! Let's see if I'll manage to gather my strength and will try this out!
Awesome description and neat design. This has got to be one of the best explanations on UA-cam for MYOG pack assembly and design. Thank you. The link to the google docs pattern doesn't seem to work. Is it perhaps because I am not in the States? Is there any other way I can get hold of your pattern. Thanks
Send us an email, we will take care of you! loosegoosedownsupply@gmail.com
What material did you sew to the bottom layer for the baffle?
Great job. I love the design. A little question : Do the measurements of the template pieces include the allowance or do I need to add it? Thanks in advance . !
Seam allowances are included.
Pro trick : you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Odin Franklin yea, been using flixzone for months myself :D
@Odin Franklin Yup, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself =)
nice tool bib!!
Thanks! Maybe we will make a how to video on it ...
Nice Job!
very nice!
Hi to all and thanks for the startup 's template- I've a question about template : What you mean with the DN code on the template?. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I was pretty confused by this comment for awhile but I figured out what you mean. "DN" on the template is my initials. It means nothing. I didn't put that there on purpose, it just pops up because I created that in Microsoft One Note.
what kind of foam do you recommend to use?
We use this and love it. Great cushion and doesn’t flatten over time - www.owfinc.com/mobile/FY20-3_8/productinfo/FY209MM/
This is so cool.
I'm thinking of making a backpack in the near future. Your videos are always very helpful!
Right on! Let us know how it goes.
@@loosegoosedownsupply1398 Okay 👍 I'm waiting for the materials to arrive now, but I hope the build goes well! Lol
happy to see this. been waiting for this one.
Great video. I found your down first and am saving up for some 900 fill to make a top and bottom quilt for my hammock. You have the best prices I've found and can't wait to get my order placed. I'll go back and watch your other videos. After seeing the simplicity of your design I'm wondering if I'm being to ambitious with my 20 degree sewn footbox. Question for you. I'm making mine for cold weather and there are things I know I want to keep warm like my water filter and phone. Why don't I see any of the major brands putting a pocket on the inside of the quilts to keep this stuff contained? Just wondering if I'm making a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, but I don't like waking up in the morning and find I"m laying on top of my phone or my filter digging into my side. Thanks.
What type of needle, what size? What type of thread, what size? How many stitches per inch? Did you use same thread and stitch length for baffles?
We recommend a Microtex Needle, size 14 and Mara 70 thread at 8 stiches per inch. Same thread/needle/stich length used throughout the entire project.
@@loosegoosedownsupply1398 thank you.. could not find filling post
Really helpful! Looking forward to the next vid
More to come!
Dont know if anyone cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend these days =)
@Alexzander Tate Definitely, have been using instaflixxer for months myself :D
Do you sell the pattern/ material lists?
John, we provide all that for free! Take a look at a few videos back, we talk about the planning/pattern/materials needed for this quilt. Thanks for stopping by!
Lovely Video! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see more 👍
More to come!
I hope you continue to make videos. Very clear and concise. I subbed and will be referring back to your site as I make and video making my own gear. Thanks for this excellent information!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your support
Clear video as usual
Thank you!
It should be noted in the price comparison that you will have left-over material after the quilt is complete. You will have some extra material, lots of extra thread, etc. to use with other projects.
Can you do a video on the stuffing stage?
Hey Mike, we have filmed this and it should be up next week!
So, did you ever get around to doing this part? Thanks for all the work documenting it up to this point!
@@MBergyman Lol, nope, sure doesn't seem like it. This whole series is kinda weird. It's good information, but just more of a build log than a real howto. Guess it's to be expected when it's only the second quilt he ever made, but seems odd that would be the Loose Goose Down Supply "official tutorial" at least to me. Gonna go look around for other videos that have more detail about doing the measurements, down stuffing, etc. and maybe have more of an ultralight focus.
Thanks for the great tutorial. I'm hoping to try and make a quilt myself soon so this information is help full . Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for the easy-to-understand cost comparison! I'm looking forward to the next post:)
