It's definitely Star Trek, because the people who get to decide what is and isn't Star Trek, the owners of the IP, have said it's Star Trek. It's weird hearing "real fans" complain about new Trek when TOS was full of the same things y'all complain about. It gets a pass because reasons? @@BlerdForce1 That's the big problem the owner's who owns the IP or should i say Alex kurtzman trek has no idea what star trek is and why to them this is star trek and why the fans says otherwise. As for discovery this was why it failed big time they just don't get it or listen to the fans where getting these Starfleet academy and section 31 that most of us don't want apart from people like you. That's not a bad thing as it does bring in new fans for today generation from the franchise but it the older fans that grew up like myself with star trek just don't care for them as much as it lost what star trek was it's badly written and destroying the cannon of these once loved shows by not understanding star trek and doing there homework.

C'mon, you don't really believe fans own Star Trek. That's just silly, and you wouldn't apply that logic to anything else. Fans don't own anything. If the fans want any say in the franchise, they can either get the talent to actually make stuff and go do the hard work needed to get into the franchise, or they can try to speak with their dollars. You don't have to like the direction of the franchise, but you also aren't entitled to anything just because you've been around the property longer or think you like the correct version of the shows/movies.

@@BlerdForce1No of course fans don't own star trek we help to keep it going by subscribing to there steaming service buying media and merchandises supporting the franchise and ratings of viewership's etc so yes we do have a say to how the show is other wise everything just gets cancelled within 2 to 3 seasons as you get less and less viewership's watching the show This is why we have a voice. We was all surprised why that show didn't get cancelled after season 2 or 3 and you know discovery was one big disappointment and a flop the rating just shows it less people was watching each episodes and each new seasons and it doesn't matter if you liked the show or not you can defend it as much as you like as it doesn't matter because that's what happened i stopped watching it after season 2 it just wasn't trek If they don't produce the kind of stuff we want to see from a classic show like this you get less people watching it. @BlerdForce1 I think they will probably shoehorn in the Aelfinn/Eelfinn at some point, maybe a red doorframe in wherever Mat goes this season. Looks like they're also saving Tear/Callandor for later too, which is gonna be interesting to see when & how they bring that in

Harley was based just for putting those rich sociopaths in the poorhouse. I will ALWAYS applaud any effort to eat the rich. It was an excellent episode, it's too bad you didn't like it.

I'd have been for them adapting the books, but it would still have the budget problem because the High Republic stories are pretty large scale. Trying to do Star Wars on TV is inherently expensive.

Velma was "woke"/rubbish/crap according to some people. Why did it get a second season? Don't worry, I'll answer that for you: it had good viewership. Wokeness, political correctness, right-wing, leftist, rubbish, etc., none of that matters as much as the numbers. If wokeness sells, you'll get woke shows. If right wing bigotry sells (it doesn't), you'll get those type of shows. I'll say it again: Andor is very highly regarded and has viewership similar to the Acolyte. It's a pretty woke show all things considered. So is it bad according to your reasoning? Or is it good because of the wokeness? What evidence can you provide that wokeness is the definitive cause of the viewership for The Acolyte but not Andor?

Expensive, yes. This is, by far, the most important factor in this decision. Whether or not it was bad is up for debate. Some people think that, but others love it. I thought it was fine. Andor had similar viewership and is highly regarded. Do you think that it was bad because it's numbers were low?

That's a sentiment that's shared by some people. I will note that Andor, which is pretty well regarded, had similar viewership. You can't reasonably draw the conclusion that it was bad from the viewing numbers unless you also want to say that Andor was bad.

Andor had a small audience but was acclaimed by critics and fans, Acolyte had a small audience and was criticized severally by these two, you don't need the audience criterion to define Acolyte as a failure. 

It was more enjoyable, and you can still enjoy it that way if you want to pay a steep premium. But it was (and still is) a money losing business model, and following Netflix off that cliff instead of trying to make streaming more like TV from the get-go hit all of the studios in the pocket pretty hard. It's why Paramount is in trouble and about to get bought out. Disney pulling back on the amount of content will also mean that they will go back to safer content.

I don't know what those are, but I'm excited to find out!

@@BlerdForce1 They were alines who essentially created the first transformers, and kept them in slavery. Later the transformers rebelled, and kicked the Quintessons off Cybertron (which was a planet size production facility/factory) in the G1 continuity. In this movies it seems like they're doing their own stuff as far as lore goes, so who knows? (like Megatron bing a miner, called D-16 comes from the IDW comics, Orion being a worker from G1, STrascream being the Elite/body guard of Sentinel from the Aligned continuity, etc)
