Been a Long Time Since Fishing for Australian Bass
Has been a long time between drinks having a fish at Wivenhoe dam but ended up finding some bass which turned into a good arvo.
Used the wind to my advantage to help find a area where the fish may have been and worked out good.
Hope you enjoy, will be more videos coming hopefully as will soon have a little bit more time to sort them out.
Thanks Tony

Yabbying at Local Dam (Wivenhoe)

This one was a arvo run to try get some Redclaw for a feed at Wivenhoe dam in Queensland. Turned out to be a worthwhile trip with getting enough for a feed for two of us. Is quite a relaxing and easy way to catch a good meal. Thanks for watching Tony

G'day everyone, this was at Wivenhoe dam at the start of summer. Had been a long time since been out to the dam and even out in the boat, so was good to have a run. Got a few for a feed which was a bonus. Thanks for watching, Tony.
Back River Yabbies

This is at a private property that has access to the upper Burnet River, we were up there visiting for a few days so thought go throw some pots in and see if some yabbies were running around. To get access the tractor went down to slash the track first as no cattle had been down there for awhile. Hope you enjoy, Tony.
Prawning at Lamb Island

This prawning video was at Lamb Island area on the gold coast. Prawning season is something that a lot of people look forward to every year, so hopefully this gets you interested in getting out and catching a fresh feed of banana prawns at some stage. In this area of South East Queensland they normally start running from march to june give or take a bit depending on how much rain has been aroun...

In this one took dad out for his first prawning trip ever and turned out to be one of the best i've been on. We had a fish waiting for the prawns to school up and ended up getting a nice snapper also. Was well worth the effort, this was filmed in 2022. Thank Tony

This was the first prawning trip out in 2022, ended up getting a good feed from around lamb island and a couple muddys from the Logan River. The prawns have now started running in 2023, however maybe a short season as has been very little rain this sumer. Was just happy that the crab pots weren't stolen so got them back. The videos should start coming out a bit quicker now as putting a bit more...
On the Hunt for Redclaw Crayfish

The redclaw are on the move in the dams around South East Queensland. This was one trip out to Wivenhoe dam to try catch a feed just after christmas. Used Mango and Cheese as bait and it done the trick this time getting about 45. Was interesting also as used a single green opera house pot and it got less redclaw in it compared to the black opera house pots. Hope you enjoy Tony
Yellowbelly off Underwater Cliff. Snapped ROD FOOTBALL JIG FISHING.
Переглядів 341Рік тому
This was my first fish caught using an old rod that had 2 eyelets snapped off the end. Figured that it being so firm would be able to feel all the little bumps and the jig was rolled over logs or cliffs. It ended up working out well and got a good size yellowbelly that went just over 50cm's in length, was tagged and released. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching, Tony.
Don't be afraid of the WIND
Переглядів 218Рік тому
This video was filmed before the floods filled Wivenhoe Dam. I headed out late in the arvo with the temperature hitting the low 30's and the wind had been blowing the same direction for the last few days. Ended up finding some fish in the end and they decided to play the game and put some tags in them. Hope you enjoy thanks Tony
Glass Out FISHING at Wivenhoe
Переглядів 7622 роки тому
This was filmed just coming out of winter in 2021 before the dams all filled up with the floods early 2022. This area is under about 20ft of water when Wivenhoe is at about 80% capacity, however I'm sure this would hold fish still as in right beside the main river. There will be plenty more videos coming, just playing catch up with some old footage that still need to put together. Hope your cat...

This was in winter before the floods came and filled up Wivenhoe Dam. There was a cold front that had just come through which figured that it would make things tough. Only had a few hours to try find and catch something as went out after work, but ended up finding some fish. Only got the one for arvo but was a good one. Hope you enjoy.
Looking for Redclaw after the Floods
Переглядів 1,6 тис.2 роки тому
This was filmed a few weeks after the February floods in South East Queensland. The dam had only opened up a week or so before I headed out for a look. I was all the confident as Redclaw at Wivenhoe dam can be hit and miss at the best of times due to the amount of area that the water covers. It will be interesting to so how the dam's in this area fish also after lots of water has been over the ...
Towing the Boat REMOTE in NORTHERN AUSTRALIA (Cape York)
Переглядів 3,7 тис.2 роки тому
This was filmed in the September Holidays when we normally head up the Cape for our yearly Fishing/Camping trip. We stayed at Muttee Heads for about 5 days until we were getting low on water before heading back. Getting out to the mouth of the Jardine river isn't to bad but I wouldn't tow anything to big out as the tight is quite tight in places and would be a high chance of breaking something....

It's always just relaxing watching your vids, appreciate the effort you put in. How long ago did you do this? I'm wanting to head out this weekend but not sure if it's too cold. Cheers
Thanks mate. I think this was the start of the year. It's worth a try see if can get anything, should be some fish around atleast. It feels like forever since i've been out there
I didn't think you were allowed power watercrafts on wivenhoe? I was going to take my jetski there one day to drop some pots in but was told it can only be paddle or wind.
@@MrJmcgaw87 yes you can have 4 strokes and etecs but limlited to 6 knots. I don't think jetskis are aloud at all but best to look it up on website.
Rough location? I have herd of them being caught around Gayndah aswell 👌 the burnet is such a large system
@@fishingwithspenccespence1064 yeah that was at Mundubbera. They everywhere is water i reckon
We went right up for two nights in mid May it has been a real struggle finding them only managed 2 for the whole time was so bummed out. Not sure what's going on?
Yeah this was at the end of last year, i went out in april i think and think only got the 1 or 2 as well. I'm sure they're in there but need a bit of luck at times to find them i think. Is such a big body of water
Whats a yabbie ?
A freshwater crayfish
The bloke the walks around the work yard with zero sense or sensibility, the infamous Yard Yabbie
I thought it was only electric on that dam?
Nah have been aloud 4 strokes on there for years. Is only 6 knots but
Hi mate, love the vid. What do you think would be the maximum length boat you would tow up there to get to all the good spots, also single or dual axle?
Hi mate, really depends where you want to go. Single or duel axle would depend on weight of boat. The last few years we have taken a 3.75m boat with 15hp on and a quad bike. We've found this a lot easier to get into some more shallow river areas and can launch boat with quad bike. But this setup is also very limited when comes to weather and trying to get to some reef ground. But much easier and lighter to tow around also. You'll never have the pefect setup to do everything really well unfortuntly.
Yellow belly love the bobin spoons.
Crush city creepers better than black gulp grubs found white was the best. Or suspect in paddle tail got 22 of one snag emerald dam best 3 .8 kg .
Brilliant 👌
Old boy Dad has got the best job there.
Yep he really enjoyed it. First time he had been prawning too.
Well done mate great work👍
Cheers mate, was a very good day out
Awesome 😎 mate ya nailed it 👍👍🍺
Was reallt good day, even better as oldman had never been prawning before.
Productive day out! What was better eating the prawns, or the snapper?

Awesome Vid and cracking prawns

Nice ❤
I've just moved to North lakes area , can U get cherabin around any of the rivers here ? Or at Somerset & Wivenhoe
Hi mate, nah not cherabin. Redclaw are in the area but, any freshwater dam/river is a chance at getting some.
why not set the pots up near where you were casting the net?
Could do, i'm sure they're would be crabs there. Atleast would be able to half keep a eye on them.
@@Lure_Loser I put a few in halfway down the Logan last week overnight and potted 9 no keepers unfortunately
Agh bugger. I haven't been out for about a month but would think they will start slowing down soon
Good stuff bro! Enjoying the vids

How long ago did u get them?
That was last season about this time i think. I only been out once so far this year, but i sure they be around lamb there by now.
Looked like a top day 🤙🤙
Yeah prawning is good fun, hard work at times but worth it
Nice work lovely Vid
Cheers mate
If you thread some lead sheet into the telstra rope it'll stop it floating and risking someone prop chopping it.
Yeah thats a good idea, be better with crab pots so don't float off so much in the current.
Nice lucerne chopped up fine and pellets plus capsicum in fine strips and seed. but did ya get new pots yet.???.
Yeah used lucene before when at wifies family farm, it works. Yep sure did, steve D pots works well. Got 4x3 entry ones. Got a good huel a couple weeks ago and have now been trying all over the dam looking for new areas with them. The vides from them won't be made for months yet but as it takes a few weeks to make each video at best. And have a back log of footage still from 12 momths ago.
your spot on about that mesh color.

Yeah mate, is a catcher. Goes good with 50hp merc, do have a hydrofoil on it but doesn't really need it. WOT gets just over 50km/h, comfortable speed is 45km/h. Cheap on fuel and last time got it check was 600hrs on it no dramas, just normal servicing.
@@Lure_Loser sweet mate cheers might go see brissy marine next week 👍👍
Mine prob has 700-800hrs now at a guess as was a few years ago when asked to check. I think you can't go wrong with ether a yamaha or merc, just make sure they try match the prop as best as they can.

I know this vid was a while ago but what pound braid and what pound leader do u use?
Not really sure in that vid but normally use about 6lb main and 8lb leader. There isn't the snags at wivenhoe so can go even lighter if wanted i reckon. But is some big fish in there when can find them.

Ever since I first saw you catch red claw in Wivenhoe I have been out every chance I get, I have used cat food rock Mellon cheers, from 8 ft to 25 all around the bottom half of the dam , I mostly hook a couple of bass or a nice yellow belly, but the only thing my pots have dragged in are shrimp and the odd laze cod . What am I doing wrong? Cheers
Yeah it is a tough place to get them sometimes. You be doing nothing wrong, I think that the catfish eat most of them so the numbers are nowhere as big compared to somerset etc. I have found good patches before but took a few trips putting pots in different areas to find them.
I thought on that trip out being left over night would have hit the mother load but didn't happen. Just have to keep trying, for me it's not to far away which is why go there fairly often. Able to sneak out after work sometimes.
I have found yellow bellie full of small red claw
How many acres is this body of water?
Google reckons wivenhoe is 2700 acres and somerset is 10700 acres. Don't think the wivenhoe size is right but, has to be a lot bigger then that, the bottem half of the dam would be twice that size easy.
