Don’t give up. Start an exercise program, start joining local meetup groups and other organizations, contribute to an open source project, create a business plan, start asking people to meet for coffee or a walk, start reading, do house projects, get spiritual, go online and start taking free or low cost courses and college classes, help others with their job searches, start a business by finding a niche. If you don’t keep things progressing you are going to get depressed. There are plenty of decent paying jobs outside of tech you can get with a small amount of training, look into your transferable skills. I’m a follower of Christ myself and I honestly believe he does all things for my good. I believe he could be building your character - you’re a different person than you were 1 year ago, use your frustration to motivate you to change your approach - things won’t get better most likely on their own, you’ll probably need to change. I’d stay out of day trading myself, I knew people who lost a lot doing that, plus it takes a ton of time and yields very little with a lot of risk usually.

In comparison the 4680 battery from tsla by Panasonic, which Elon said is revolutionary is only getting 633Wh/L after 5 years of developement. This is just one of many example Lucid is so far ahead. You said it yourself, you don't have a chance in getting a job that shows 1000s applying for. But, you still have agency, and hope. Pivot away from this painful cycle. While you wait to get hired, build an app, something that solves a problem and potentially you can monetize. Sell the app as a subscription. This solves a few things: first, it sharpens your coding skills, and thinking skills, second, it provides a potential source of income, even a few hundred dollars a month could offset some of your living expenses, third, building a product is something you can show potential employers, and forth, it keeps you busy and takes the edge of mental duress. Don't generalize in coding skills, language...pick a few to become a specialist...specialists do the best, have the highest chance of getting hired. Generalists are a dime a dozen, but its specialists who get the jobs and the higher pay.

I went through the same thing. I found that many times the first round was done by HR persons that don't understand technology in the first place. I decided to re-focus on education and work for a school district. They were very happy to have a great network or developer to help them out. Keep the faith.

Hey man, I feel your pain. I am in London, a Product manager in Financial Tech... In my 40s, it is brutal out here.... The market is dead, competition must be insane. I lost my job in Dec 23 and to say that I feel like I have been written off by the society would be an understatement. I applied for hundreds of roles so relevant that they would normally get HR calling my number straight away but this time around... There is nothing. A couple of years ago I was a Digital Transformation Director working for a major bank, bringing whole startup into the company ... Liasing with MDs... I now feel as if I am trying to get my first role... May be even worse. ...being ghosted after 3-4 rounds of interviews has become the norm... I find this... It's bizarre, it's like... In my previous roles in Tier-1 investment banks I'd lose my job if I simply stopped talking to people or clients... Work ethics that I grew up with is gone. Everyone is a number at the extremes... I also do trade but without the stability of an income I started taking unnecessary risks and lost plenty of money... This feels demoralising and after a year if looking for a job I feel numb... I literally open my laptop in the mornings applying for random roles while meaninglessly staring at the screen... The process feels random beyond what my brain can comprehend and I am therefore unable to figure out how to tweak my behaviour to get better results. This all feels wrong and utterly pointless. I don't know what to say to you except that there is another dude in London experiencing very similar issues. Good luck, man!

I have been managing tech teams for over 30 years and the ones that network seem to do the best based on what I see on my LinkedIn. But I am also seeing AI replacing a lot of my devs.

I just got laid off yesterday. I’ve been watching a lot of videos of bubbly ppl telling me what to do after getting laid off and saying all the positive things. Its nice and all, but your video felt more personal because it was more in tune with the reality and felt like i was hearing a friend vent. stories like this have me thinking on whether I want to double-triple-quadruple down on a tech niche (currently working as a senior developer) OR really think about what to transition to while I still have a job + lots of savings. I fear we are entering a truly dystopian reality in America where the only 'good' jobs will be building Nuclear power plants + data centers that will then be used to database and track everyone + automate all white collar work out of existence (who the F wants to study technology just to work in a non-human datacenter?)

I feel for you man. It's really hard to trade for a living when you don't have an income to fall back on. Best advice if you try to do that would be income strategies - options, short theta.

Musk and Vivek influenced trump to continue to outsource these tech jobs to Indians and others outside the US. So much for making America great again. If musk gets his way, all the tech jobs will go for lower paid foreigners with the H1B visas. Vivek said Americans are too dumb to compete. So it doesn’t look good.

Hey, it doesn’t matter if you are being age discriminated or what…you gotta change this attitude. You cannot sit around feeling sorry, it will spiral. Are you lifting weights? You need to keep your body and mind healthy. Keep pushing forward, your opportunity will come, but not if you give up.

Hey Bud thanks for posting and you are saying aloud what so many seem to be thinking. Not that you asked for advice but I would suggest figuring out a blue collar line of work that you would enjoy. That takes the pressure off entrepreneurial efforts and/or interviewing and you can continue with those.

It's definitely a risky play. However, I chose to take the risk. I'm hoping that they have a better handle on their expenses for February 25th earnings call. As of late, I've been seeing more television commercials with Lucid. That should help with visibility. Only time will tell where this company will be in the future.

Earnings in February. Expect it start to rise soon. People are panicking from insiders selling but I believe most of the leadership gets paid in shares so they would sell. I’d be more worried if they sold all their shares.

Between those three stocks I own 11,000 shares. I hit it huge. Jumped into those three back in August. Google used a quantum chip last week that solved a problem in minutes that otherwise would have taken 10 years. All three of those companies own quantum computer machine shops where they actually make the quantum computer itself. It rocked the computer world forever changing it for the better. Quantum is HERE. The secret to quantum is that it speeds up crypto mining.
