Toyota GR Yaris Sounding Angry
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Рік тому
In this video I drive my Toyota Yaris GR road car. The works car won the WRC championship in 2019 with Ott Tänak, in 2020 and 2021 with Sébastien Ogier, and in 2022 with Kalle Rovanperä, mainly to demonstrate the angry engine sound rather than speed. Currently I am filming a new Cotswolds based video with my GR to be be completed in a while.

Keep watching until the monster consumes a whole tree!! I only had a few minutes to grab my camcorder and film this footage handheld. This amazing chipper soon consumed a lot of trees and hedging material. The wood chippings will be recycled of course. whole Tree

Well done, but in my opinion, the Gen 1 car looks far more aggressive. Yes there's probably some improvement in certain areas, but to me I'd rather keep my Holomogation special, as it will be more sort after in the future.
Looking forward to your upcoming videos on the Gen 2 and opinion versus Gen 1. Roll on the spring
Thank you for your very kind words Adam. I have really got to produce a good video now, no pressure! Without spoiling the forthcoming video suffice to say that I don't want to stop driving the Gen 2 and I have only felt that way before with my MK1 Ford Escort RS1600 rally car - a long time ago.
Wow! What a car! Bye!
Thanks!
Congrats on being one of the lucky few to get your hands on the new gen2 GR4 - Great car
Congrats on the new wheels! Happy driving mate. Hopefully I can own one, one day
Thanks, an awesome driver's car.
It looks amazing and my favourite colour. 👍 I would put also an akrapovic on and it would be perfect.
Many thanks for your comments and advice. I will consider replacing the exhaust system.♨
Great hearing from you again. A new video coming in the summer.
Congratulations!!! It looks stunning in that colour. Do continue to share your journey with it!
Congratulations Sir! Very nice motor! Not a year after the first one!😊
Thank you once again my friend. I was one of he lucky one.
@ I cannot wait for your driving videos in the beautiful cotswolds👍🏼
Excellent. I hope you still plan on driving the nice roads out of Wantage, when the weather is better for some new videos. I picked up a Gen 1 Circuit Pack in Sep. Not driven it much but the acceleration from the little engine is very impressive. I fitted a 2014 Yaris rear view mirror and that has helped with front vision, not that you have to worrry about that now with the Gen2 😀 I find the brakes some getting used to, they are strong but my daily car is from VAG group and they seem to like overassisting them so the initial bite is strong with minimal effort. On the GR you need to use your leg muscles! I also just bought a jack and wheel brace from local dealer as i like to have this even with no spare wheel. Enjoy the Gen 2
Thanks Sean. I too have a VAG (Polo GTI Plus) daily driver with excellent and very light brakes so concur with you. Last year I was travelling in my Gen 1 GR at 59.9 MPH on a wet and leafy country road and had to make a real emergency stop. Although requiring a bit of effort they were amazing in stopping the car in time and in a straight line. My Gen 2 has the same brakes but with a lighter pedal pressure - progress. By the way your Gen 1 Yaris is just as much fun to drive as the latest model so enjoy it.yt3.ggpht.com/7tf3A_D48gBg9g2N0Rm6HWs2aqzshHU4CuVubTXVxh1BP7YDBRC6pLBoC-ibvr-zCl_Lgg=w48-h48-c-k-nd
Congrats on the new car, looks awesome 👍👍👍.
Thanks, for me the ultimate dream car no longer a dream. 🍾
Crazy car 🗼⛩️
I'm a crazy driver
Cheers Rob, definitely more next year . . . . . 🛺
Short and sweet, hopefully more to follow 👍👍.
Exceptional and endearing video of all the things drivers love, good car conversation, great sounds, a beautiful car and magnificent backdrop. Very well done. I enjoyed your review. 👌
Thank you, I am very happy you liked my video. Another red Honda S2000 video on my channel. Mark
Looked like a blast! I'd love to try that, myself! Congrats on the new S2K! Honda was way ahead of their time with this classic vehicle! Have you driven the Integra Type R or NSX? The other two Shigeru masterpiece vehicles?
Absolutely delightful! I enjoyed the ride along with you! Fabulous car! Just Fabulous!
My pleasure. In 2020 I sold my black S2000 and bought a v low mileage red one seen here: - ua-cam.com/video/NfKQdK7rJKE/v-deo.html
Awesome video….my fav car EVER to drive and own…sure wish I could find a new engine for my 2002 AP1 🥲
Thank you Ricky and good luck with finding a replacement engine.
Lovely roads to drive the GRY on! 😎 Mine's a keeper! 😍
So is mine. Thanks for the comment,
Very beautiful yard
Very kind if you to say so. We have a 'gardens open day' in aid of charity in the village every two years and I made the rash decision to enter mine.
Fantastic! The way this car is meant to be driven
You are too kind Chris, it looks faster than it was.
This video was a nice surprise! I’ve enjoyed your others from a couple years ago and was happy to see a new one pop up. I have this car’s American twin, a 2007 New Formula Red that I bought 5 years ago with 31k miles and is now over 50k miles as we’ve taken many fun weekend trips to the mountains and vineyards.
Yes I have just seen your S2000, like mine with LH drive. It looks immaculate inside and out. Well done. Mark
What a fantastic tour of the Cotswolds. And to see the S2K touring was great. Very skillful filming and editing too so thanks very much for this Mr Skinner.
PS I'm also an S2000 and GR Yaris owner so your channel is very much appealing!
My pleasure I am pleased you enjoyed it.
Amazing video! Car is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you for saying so.
great video i have a red s2000 2004 ap2, best car ever made. nice to see one in great condition as well.
I wouldnt call this a tribute by any means. But a decent overview. And its clear you love the car.
Lovely, always wanted one but unfortunately too tall for it after a test drive!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 💯
Wonderful car, here in the US (Texas) we got the lower redline engine (F-22) starting in 2004, for that reason I confined my search to the earlier AP1 cars before buying my 2003 back in 2017 with 12,000 miles at the time. I notice that cars in England also include what appears to be a headlight washer system? Is that a requirement in Europe? I have never seen a S2000 over here equipped with one and do not recall any mention of one in the brochure at the time or in the owners / service manuals. Strange as it may seem my 1969 Corvette actually has a similar system to clean the headlights. Keep up your good work!
All s2000s in Europe have the headlight washer system from the factory
GOOD!😍
Thank you
Beautiful condition. Wish mine was as mint. Have an early AP1 and funnily enough took it out for the first time today since Xmas.
Sounds a great car!
Thanks for the tour! A credit to you for keeping it so well. Best of luck with the Yaris....keep the videos coming🙂👍
Thank you - at least they both have Torsen LSDs!
Yours S2000, is it AP1 model? You keep it in super good condition 👏
AP1 and AP2 refers to the engine type not the car. In the USA, AP1 and AP2 denotes the engine capacities of 2.0 litres and 2.1 litres respectively. In the UK, and except for the USA, I believe elsewhere in the world that only 2.0 litre engine S2000s were issued.
You're back! Lovely video as ever. Are you selling?! It's absolutely immaculate - you'll never find one in such nick again. Please consider holding on to it.
Oh Adrian I have had to pass it on to a super guy who will cherish it. The reason is a little monster called a Yaris GR! I come from a rallying background as you may have gathered from my you tube channel. Take care, Mark
@@Country_Car it is a pity you sell the S2000 but the GR Yaris is fun too but no convertible. Will you drive the GR Yaris as it meant to be driven ? I hope you show us the car and the drives in it.
As I have a stage/road rally background I had to choose the GR. Her the video I mad las year: ua-cam.com/video/WbJNd0wAAKI/v-deo.html @@nickvlaanderen
Afraid it is sold to a lovely chap.
@@Country_Car nice! I tought you ordered the new GR Yaris but you have already a GR Yaris. :) The prices for the new GR Yaris here in the Netherlands are just arrived, 70000Euros for the Performance version. That is because our nice emission taxes of 27k. Thx government! I keep my S2000 and end of last summer i bought a Lotus Elise as second fun car. Wish you a lot of drivingfun in the Yaris! The new owner of your S2000 will be very happy. :)
🐐
Well done Sir, love my '03 that I've had for 17 years. Such a great car at a reasonable price...for now😅
Being an S2000 owner and having watched hundreds of S2000 videos from around the globe, I can honestly say this is the best by far. Thank you Mark for capturing the majestic beauty of the S2000 in such wonderful surroundings.
It is so rewarding receiving your generous comments. Have you seen the other video on my UA-cam channel?
Fantastic narration, filming and location. Great description of the driving experience . I've had my Pearl white convenience pack since 2021. Keep on driving my friend.
You have great taste, pearl white shows off the GR's body shape best,🧙♂ and I love the way it can change with the light. Thanks for the lovely comments and take care.
Carrazo🎉
A man of great taste in cars, 2 cars that are fun to drive in totally different ways.
Thank you - it also takes one to know one.
Thanks for the video. I used to use that road with my cars and bikes when i lived in Oxfordshire. Lots of road variation, never boring. I wonder how the GR would go around the White Horse road near Uffington? Quite a few tighter bends but the road surface was very poor 4 yrs ago.
Jeremy Clarkson, Harry Metcalfe and yours truly all love this road too. Thank you for suggesting the 'Uffington Road Challenge' - I will have to take on the challenge and post a video in the spring. The GR revels in undulating roads like a true rally car should.
@@Country_Car Wantage to Great Shefford is another good flowing road, and road surface is smooth. Question - does the GR engine's have character? I had a MK3 MR2 and it was good but soulless. Where as a Peugeot 106 Rallye 8V I had, was traditional 'on cam' from 5k-7k, and lots of fun.
As I said in the narration the GR doesn't do slow driving well, it's like driving a standard every day car that just wants to go. However driven fast the car turns into a howling beast which tries to goad you into going faster. Nearest car that I have ever driven was my 1972 Escort MK1 RS1600 rally car. The GR is similar in that it can be thrown into a corner with full confidence, by anyone really! Once driven never forgotten. Best, Mark
My dream car, thanks for sharing it with us!
My absolute pleasure.
Wonderful video pal, kudos to the camera person Nice find on such a late model S2000, quite rare Looks to be in rather good condition although the paint needs correction, lots of carwash scratching
By the way: Working for CLAAS, I really enjoy seeing a Xerion here in the video. ;-> So have a lot of fun...
Thank you
Hello, I really like like a person like you "enjoys" the GR. So do I when driving it. Not sure if you own one. But if so: Have a lot of fun with it. - I'm enjoying my GR everytime I ride it. (Very nice video of a "used driver".) - THNX 4 uploading this.
Thank you for your comments and yes I am the lucky owner. Enjoy yours too . . . . . .
@@Country_Car Surely I do. Hope so do you...
Some drastic corner cutting @8:20. Careful out there
Thank you for your comments which I have duly noted.
Had my Platinum White CP GR fir 2.5 years now. Not missed a beat, no servicing issues and still a hoot to drive. It’s not been wafted around, it’s been thrashed (where permissible). I even left it standing outside in road, Uncleaned and Not started for three months from July this year, after a spinal injury prevented me driving. Started first time and washed up a treat (ceramic coated). I have been running the GR alongside a Golf R 7.5 with a remap, for nearly three years, wondering which one to keep. It’s no contest for driving fun, the GR is staying. ❤
Sincere apologies for not replying before to your very interesting comments. How is your back now? I also have a VW daily driver, a 2020 Polo GTI Plus. At last VW have sorted out the handling, it's very relaxing to drive and quite quick. Luckily for me the GR lives in the garage so both can stay. All the best with your decision making, Mark
😯
You, sir, are an inspiration. It is my wish that when I grow older, I can enjoy and drive a car like the gr yaris like you. Legend.
Too kind really, but I guess you have either got it or . . . . . . . . ? Only joking, but if you have time please see my other fun car videos:- ua-cam.com/video/NfKQdK7rJKE/v-deo.html and:- ua-cam.com/video/DDAVze-30q8/v-deo.html☺
@@Country_CarIm assuming, sir, that you have some sort of history in racing?
Many, many years ago I campaigned a Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600 for a few seasons starting with night rallying then progressing to stage rallying. My GR is closest thing that I have driven since then - and better. I guess you have done a bit of competition driving?
@@Country_Car Yes sir but on road. And not as involved. Basically got my racing license in America whilst at Uni there and did some racing with e30 M3’s in the early 90’s. Recently acquired a Gr Yaris and love it to bits. Many thanks again sir for the inspiring video. My very best to you and keep uploading your gr videos. We, my friends and I, love it.
JP, if I may be so bold, you send such kind messages to me. My best wishes to you and your friends. Have you by chance visited my little youtube channel and seen my other fun car - a red Honda S2000. One of the videos features a short trip, struggling up the historic Prescott Hill Climb on new tyres which I fitted before I knew Prescott was on the cards. Ref your GR have you been on any small twisty roads yet? Best, Mark
that was an absolutely fantastic review!
Thank you Dan. If you go to my UA-cam channel there is another S2000 video plus a Toyota GR Yaris review and test. Also I cruise up the Prescott Speed Hill Climb in the Honda in another film.
@@Country_Car Sounds brilliant, I will have to give them a watch!
Hope you're doing well and still taking your s2000 out for countryside rips!
Good to hear from you. Sadly the enormous amount of road tax on my S2000 puts me off these days. I take it that you have viewed my new Toyota GR Yaris video? - ua-cam.com/video/WbJNd0wAAKI/v-deo.html
What year is this one
2007. I have since replaced the registration plate with a more meaningful registration number H2 VTE. Please have a look at my other video if you haven't already viewed it.
