Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is a non-profit, independent organisation operating throughout the Western Cape to collect and supply safe blood and blood products to all communities in the region, from Cape Town to George. Its head office is situated in Pinelands, Cape Town, with regional branches in Paarl, Worcester and George and fixed sites in Long Street, Blue Route Mall and N1 City Mall.
More than 200 mobile donation clinics are organised across the province each month - all of which aim to take blood donation to the donor, making it as convenient as possible.
The service collects more than 165 000 units of blood that is used to save or enhance the lives of more than 490 000 people each year.

Hero - a blood donor poem by Peter Key
Peter Key, a resident of Kirstenhof, isn't just a blood donation champion - he's a passionate poet who pours his heart into words. With over 40 life-giving donations under his belt, his dedication to saving lives extends beyond the blood bank. Though health reasons may side-line his future contributions, his spirit finds voice in his poetry. This poem, a testament to the heroism found in a single blood donation, reflects both his compassion and his love for the written word.
