Rack Chin Breakdown
I’ve seen the claim that the Rack Chin has a great profile for pulling movements; meaning that the exercise is hardest at the bottom and gets gradually easier as you come up.⁣

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭⁣

This doesn’t mean it FEELS easier.⁣
An exercise that gets easier where you get weaker might feel difficult the whole way through.⁣

Enter the claim that the Rack Chin matches the Pulling Strength profile, which would be wonderful if it were true but alas, it’s not.⁣

It’s still an awesome movement but that’s not because of its profile.⁣

If you’ve added the move in because of that rationale and you want to know more…⁣

Here’s the Physics behind it.⁣

Fitness Rant Be Kind Always
Переглядів 643 роки тому
Can you disagree with me here while still being kind? What if I take it badly? Were your actions still kind? If they were, were they kind for me or kind for you? What if I take it badly now but change my mind later and come to thank you, is that kind or unkind or both?⁣ ⁣ If a Holy Text contains the infallible word of God, and disobedience to it condemns a person to an eternity of cabbage and g...

THE PHYSICS OF THE TRX ROW
Переглядів 1493 роки тому
The basics are relatively simple for this movement but the added extras get a little complex quickly. That said, the TRX Row in its basic format has a lovely pulling profile, in that it gets lighter as you pull up (provided you’re not too low down); something you would like from your pulling movements. The problem is that you end up being able to do 100. The solution is to add a weighted vest o...

We’ve done the mathsy stuff for why we lift less weight on angled pressing machines, but we don’t lift on a blackboard.⁣ ⁣ How do we know that’s not just bollocks?⁣ ⁣ Simple. You test it.⁣ ⁣ So let’s test it with a plank of wood, a clamp and a small cart.⁣ ⁣ Basically NASA level equipment over here.⁣ ⁣ For the love of all that is holy, tell me you thought that was awesome and cool…⁣

    I know i literally just commented, but as the video continued i realized this is a literal gold mine of information. Been reading and watching videos on these types scientific studies and putting allot of stock in the results. Turns out most of these studies are extremely flawed as you have listed many variables not taken into consideration. You are doing gods work keep it up!

    Damn I thought I found a vertical pull that got easier at the top and heaviest at the bottom that i could do at home :/ I was a little suspicious though and had to check it out. I admit the math was over my head but thanks for clearing that up for me. Is there any way you know of to achieve this besides special machines at the gym?

    My issue with this is the degree of hip flexion one is in at the peak concentric point of the exercise. Otherwise I love the ecentric depth and the premise of this machine.

    Would it be hardest in the mid range? Because though the moment arm is furthest at the top are body’s lock out is also strongest at the top

    Is this harder than a barbell squat?

    • @paul_standell
      @paul_standell 3 роки тому

      That's super open ended as question. It'll depend on experience with the movement (most people have done a lot more Back Squatting than Pendulum Squatting). The structure of you - some people suit Squatting super well, others, like myself not so much. The pendulum has the weight further away from the axis of the machine than a Barbell does, which means you'll need a lot less weight on this than Squatting.

    What about performing hip abduction and then lifting?

    • @paul_standell
      @paul_standell 3 роки тому

      How do you mean? As in perform the abduction before the Bridge? If so, yeah, it doesn't matter which you start with. Most of the challenge from this movement comes from the band pushing in continually rather than the floor pushing up (if you're unsure, try it without the band and you'll find out how easy it is without the band challenge). Or did you mean something else?
