This is based on a workaround I discovered 9 months ago. I created a video back then. Since two updated ago. The workaround changed slightly. I then created a new updated video with more content.

Much better. It took only 15 seconds to confirm payment and start charging. My previous stop was at EA. Needed to move charger as the first charge was de-rated. The second charger did ramp to full. speed.

The MagicDock is a Tesla integrated CC1 adapter with the Supercharger. You need to have a Tesla account and app to activate the CCS1 plug. You can find the supported MagicDock sites with Tesla app and PlugShare.

These AC chargers are slow, only 6kW. I added 12% to my battery. 30 miles of range.

No, there were no amenities. A big miss on bp part.

The charger at Buc-ee's is 400 kW ChargePoint branded Mercedes Benz. My BMW Navigation see them as Mercedes Benz dc fast chargers.

Yes, I read that, too. I hope that bp will add amenities to their future Gigahub sites. This location is missing amenities.

I have done many road trips. I always book my hotel stays that offer EV charging. It's a great feeling to have a charged car in the morning.

I agree that my Chargepoint RFID would have been easier. Showing the app, I am able to show how to charge without having a Chargepoint account. I just fumble using the app by not selecting the "Charge here" button. I back-door starting charging in the video.

Thank you. Yes, you can charge at other vendors. Currently, with Tesla, we can only charge at Tesla Supercharger that has been upgraded with the MagicDock "CCS1 adapter." With the Tesla app, you can find these stations. There is only one in Texas. I just used it this past weekend. I have other videos showing other charging vendors. Also, on my road trip, I will use other vendors if they are more convenient. Both the i4 and i5 are very nice. I have been in an i5. It is more comfortable with bigger and softer seats. It comes down on what you are looking for.

Yes, the BMW Navigation is accurate. I only use the BMW Navigation on long road trips to precondition the battery for DCFC. I use Google Maps for local trips as I charge at home on my L2 AC charger.

I also posted my Day 6 road trip video. Since the BMW Navigation is unaware of the Tesla Supercharger. I needed to set my navigation to a near by 350 kW EVGO so I could precondition the battery. BMW will be adding the Tesla Supercharger in the navigation along with the support of a CCS1 to NACS adapter.

I think in fact it will be better than this once she is used to it. There is a bit of a learning curve for the first month or two. After that it is a piece of cake. She will also learn not to get excited our wound up the odd occasion it goes wrong. She will learn what chargers to avoid and which ones to go for. The i4 probably is the best car available now... it just... is.

I do carry a microfiber. I normally don't see the dust and fingerprints. It sure shows up on camera, or the light is at the right angle

Each state in the US dictates its rate. In Texas, buying electricity is deregulated. So, the charging service provider will find their best deal. From the Shell Recharge charging logs, it was $0.58 and $0.51 per kWh at the two charging stops. For me, at home in my L2, I paid $0.10 per kWh.

Will Tesla charges 37 cents in so on top of being ripped off when you bought the car you're being ripped off at the electrical charging stations too, good job all around I have to say.

@@lotusjp - BMW gives a great deal - 2 years of FREE charging (30 minute sessions). This even means you don't have to pay the L2 rate at home if public DC is used.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I should have used the charger to the right. That way, I would not be blocking. Also, I should have used the one on the end, too. I noticed these two after reviewing my video. I will pay more attention in the future.

Thank you for your comments. My Day 6 video will be out in a few days. I am happy that BMW signed on for NACS support. In my next video, I do stop in Fort Worth, TX, at a Tesla Supercharger with the CCS MagicDock. The MagicDock is limited to 350 amps, so the most we will see is 150 kW. In the i4, the 150 kW charging curve is flatter. So the end time is about the same if I am on a 350 kW charger pulling 203 kW on plugin.

On the 195 mile stretch when I needed the range. The speed limit was 75 mhp. I drove it at 75 and 74 mph. Normally, I would drive at 5 moh over or 80 mph.

I normally change to 80%. I did change to 100% for my local BMW club drive on New Years Day. It was 50°F with a wind chill of 42°F. I drove 220 miles and still had 16% battery. I could have made it home with 1% as my i4 M50 estimated arrival would be. It would have been 270 miles. I did stop at a 350 kW EVGO charger for 7 minutes to give me a 20% buffer.

There is an Electrify America chargers at Katy Mills on the west. There is a new EVGO chargers being installed at the Flying J in Brookshire.

Sorry for the sound quality. I do have DJI wireless mics. The issue was my new video editing software. The sound was turned down in the editing tool. I have fixed it on my newer videos.

My i4 is still showing 48A, 32A, 20A, 16A ....... My i4 is an early 2023 model built in late 2022. It may be the newer i4 has an upgraded AC charger for the North America market. What I am seeing with my i4 mostly matches what is available in Europe for AC charging, not what is available in North America.

I'm renting so cannot install a NEMA 14-50 outlet or BMW Wallbox, so have to use the NEMA 10-30 dryer outlet. Also, unrelated to this video, but I really like your window tints, do you know what window tint % your front, rear windows, and rear windshield are? Thank you!

The only issue is over time of pluging and unplugging the dryer and the EV charger. The receptacle will get loose and not make good contact with the plug. This will generate heat at the receptacle and may cause a fire. There are dryer smart switches that share the dryer receptacle with the dryer and EV charger. My tint is 3M Ceramic IR. 25% on the front side windows, 35% on the rear side windows and back window, clear on the windshield. The ceramic keeps the heat down in our hot summers in Texas.

I won’t be unplugging the adapter because I have a gas dryer, so the 10-30 outlet is unused. In that case, I should be okay to use this as a permanent solution as long as I limit the amps through the app or car to 20 or 24, right? Interesting about the tints! Most people go darker in the back windows, so I’m surprised you did the opposite. Thoughts on 3M FX vs. 3M Ceramic?

Yes, by leaving it plugged in would limit any ware on the receptacle. I would advise you to have a licensed electrician check out the circuit. The locking screws can back out. They need to be re-torqued at the breaker and receptacle. Since you are renting, you may not know the history of this circuit.

on average my charging stops are 15 to 30 minutes. While the car is charging I am using the restroom and getting something to eat. A gas car on a long road trip will be the same. 5 minutes for gas and 20 minutes for restroom and a snack.

You don't SuperCharge 100% of the time like gas guys have to when they make their weekly trips to the gas station. EV owners charge at home and wake UP to a FULL TANK EVERY MORNING.

Yes some superchargers have the dock. If a Tesla owner comes to charge they can simply pull out the charger and plug in with the 'Tesla only' connector. but non-Teslas can engage the dock from the app so that it has a different connector.
