@@AccessBlockbusters nope wont do that. Season 1 failed into making me care for any character in this Show. There is no one where I have even the slightest interest in following. Dont get me wrong se1 had some good stuff too. But in the end I mostly felt bored. And for a LotR Show to be boring...thats a carnal sin my friend. At least in my book. I just dont think se2 will be diffrent for me. But Im happy for you and everyone who enjoys it.

By perfect (and if you watch my channel, I say this over and over again) I mean for me - I happen to think that even those objective metrics matter insofar as they affect you subjectively. Otherwise, then every film major would grade every film the same - and they don’t, and it’s because we’re all different! Those objective metrics are ways in which we can express our subjective thoughts. Perfect is used in the title facetiously - I’m just saying that for me, there was only one thing I didn’t like in the episode. Hope that makes sense!

Right, and I totally respect that. I’m not saying that you can’t watch anything you don’t like. I’ve just heard far too many people comment on my videos on the second-to-last episode of this season with anger and vitriol, not just towards the show, but towards other individuals here on the channel. That behavior is baffling to me - again, not saying this pertains to you! But making a more general observation from what I’ve been seeing

First, thanks for allowing room for other people's opinions. The amount of vitriol and hate that has stemmed from this show (it's a vocal group) in the comments has been a little alarming to me. I'll address a couple things - first, the writing. I happen to think the writing is quite good. Sure, there are some places where it's bad (I've said it over and over, there are entire storylines that need to be cut), but every episode, I write down individual lines that stick with me. So on the writing front, if you think the writing is terrible, that's totally fine! I respect that - but I think the writing part is more subjective than people give it credit for. It hits people in different ways and I don't know how to quantify "objectively good writing"--some people hate books like The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, War and Peace. With regards to the lore--my argument (that I've received some pushback on in the comments) is this. If an MCU movie came out and suddenly broke every single bit of canon, or if a Star Wars movie did something ridiculous, does that diminish my liking of earlier projects? Not at all. Do midichlorians make me hate The Empire Strikes Back? Not in the least. Further, I actually think this is a different case in another key way--like you alluded to, this is an adaptation. When Captain America: Civil War was released, and it had almost nothing to do with the original story except in spirit, does that suddenly negate the comic if you loved it? Of course not. My point is--a lot of people (and not you, to be clear, just a lot of others in the comments) have acted as though this series is desecrating their childhood and it's their sacred obligation to watch this series even though they hate every second of it. It doesn't make sense to me--from an enjoyment perspective, it pains me that so many people are doing something (watching the show) that actively makes them angrier. And that's because this isn't like watching/not watching the show will suddenly make the Silmarillion disappear. The lore is still there and always will be. They're not coming for your copies of the original trilogy and the Silmarillion and redacting everything from your memory forever (that'd be an interesting science-fiction story though...). To be clear, this isn't my plea for everyone to like the show. it's just for people to come to the table and say, "Hey, I don't like it, it's breaking Tolkein's canon, I'm tapping out," or have others say, "That's a bummer, I'm not someone who read the Silmarillion, but I'm enjoying the show" and have that be a line of civil and respectful disagreement. At the end of the day, we can disagree, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts civilly! Hope you understand where I'm coming from!

@@AccessBlockbusters First of all, thanks for the answer. For Tolkin fans the problem is not the series itself, but rather how the Lord of the Rings IP is being used. If the series wasn't related to Tolkin's world, no one would care if it was good or bad like any other series. Tolking fans are so hungry for content that they put too much hope in the series, especially when it comes to the Silmarilion (Kinda) where there were epic battles and legendary characters that the series doesn't reflect. The battle of Eregion is especially brutal, Sauron used Celebrimbor as a war banner. As I said before, there's no problem in changing facts in the books to adapt it into a series/film, but for example, Elrond giving Galadriel a kiss is hilarious, knowing that Galadriel's daughter married Elrond, it's a huge change and completely unnecessary. (I hope that in the future there will not be a love affair between the two) Another change made by the scriptwriters is to give the idea that the orcs have feelings and that they want peace, knowing that in Tolkin's work the orcs were created explicitly for war, it could being here all day giving more details about the writers' choices. It's these types of details that completely ruin the immersion, if the core of the world is changed, it's clear that fans won't like it. It's not just because of the Lore, I don't feel like I'm in the Lord of the Rings world, it's just a fantasy series. And you're absolutely right, it won't be any bad series or film about the Lord of the Rings that will make me stop liking Tolkin's work, quite the opposite... I'll continue to wait for more and more content to come out about the Tolkin's work and I will see them all.

A little more complicated than that. There are a few ways to make a TV show (in traditional sense at least). The sitcom/serialized format was huge for a long time - 20-25 episode seasons of about 30 minutes each. Yes, to your point, that was TV, where each episode was contained and had its own arc, so in that sense, sure, Agatha is a TV show. The BIG difference / Agatha is 9 episodes. With 20-25 episodes, you have time to marinate in the characters and slowly build an overarching, season-long story. I’m worried that in 9 episodes, we’re just going to meander until episode 8 and then suddenly reveal a big threat in 9. Just my thoughts! Thanks for sharing!

​@sqeeto2000 yeah i'm a queer woman and although i don't read much marvel stuff, i absolutely love weird indie comics and i do read a lot of dc (which really i only started because i'm a huge fan of the sandman lol). i've read young avengers and maybe everything with moon knight in it, and that's about it for marvel. but this show is making me want to read the scarlet witch run it's apparently loosely based on for sure. in my experience queer women that read comics gravitate to the weirder shit and not the blasé superhero stuff (although i personally love that too, just from dc and not marvel). so this kind of show absolutely is marketed toward comic readers, just female ones lol

I agree that in the MCU, she's right up there in terms of pure acting ability. I'm sure she would've done great if they asked her to go darker! Personally, I was even more blown away with what she was able to do with more a "sinister" vibe in WandaVision (the scene where she confronts SWORD outside the hex) and emotional (when she visits the empty lot in episode 8). I love Wanda as a character more than almost anything in the MCU - I’m one of the only people crazy enough to say WV is my second favorite MCU project ever. So when I say I don’t “want” a SW film, it doesn’t mean at all that I’m not going to be happy to see her if she comes back. I just don’t want it to turn into. Loki situation where his deaths mean nothing and he’s being resurrected and repowered every single time. One of the great things about Tony’s death (for now…) is that it felt permanent. But if she’s back, I’m always glad to see more Wanda! Thanks for sharing!

She has for sure - though I’m personally okay with the ending because she made a noble sacrifice to get rid of the Darkhold. I don’t see, for example, Darth Vader needing a “happier” ending even he’s went through an incredible amount because he made a sacrifice for his son and redeemed himself. That’s just me! Elizabeth Olsen would be great in a solo film! I just think WV is so precious and felt like the standalone project that I always wanted from Scarlet Witch (as odd as it sounds) that I don’t know how a movie could top it. But you never know!
