Ya, I know.
So.. this ending is actually super interesting. It’s *not* the same as the other “slay” ending. Here, he doesn’t actually decide to listen to the Echo. Nor does he listen to her. Or even the different shards of him. Instead, he truly rises above everything and becomes an actual God. A fully realised deity. Notice that he never argues that the world would be better off without her. Because that’s not an argument anyone could possibly hope to win. Instead, all he’s saying is “I don’t need you”, “I am more powerful than you”. This has never been about the world. This is the ending he wanted for nobody but himself. I feel like I could talk about it forever, but it would also be just rephrasing the same explanation over and over again. So I’ll just.. stop here and hope that’s enough. Either way, this is legitimately fascinating.
I see what you mean. After watching Zuldim's video I feel like I understand this ending better than I did initially. Having said that, it still felt a little anticlimactic. I guess I kinda hyped up this ending a little and while I think it's cool that there's an ending that requires choices you made prior to the final encounter and not during, the ending itself left me wanting.
@@shortjohnred1907 Personally, I just love how it perfectly parallels when you ask her “Is anything out there real? Are we real?” at one point, and her answer is basically “We’re real because “nothing” is just the absence of “something” and can’t exist on its own”. And it’s hilarious how she says that right to the face of literal embodiment of Nothing. Another point to that is the “You can’t be a contradiction. Contradictions don’t exist.” question. She says “There are no words that can describe me into non-existence.” And it’s funny how she then basically attempts to do the exact same thing to you. Which is why, when you refuse to even acknowledge her as an equal, she’s desperately trying to understand “What are you? How can you exist without relation to me?” Just.. amazing. It’s very subtle, but this ending *definitely* feels like it’s tying everything together. Not very good for the world, but definitely makes quite a statement.
This chapter is possible with three different voices and I gotta say Broken is actually my favorite here. He instinctively understands what’s happening and really wants to help her no matter what. His interactions with her are just so.. intimate and personal. They’re a perfect match. Definitely a fantastic redemption from the bullshit he pulled with the Tower. Now, seeing him more, I think I understand his purpose. He’s inherently the most selfless and empathetic Voice, only ever thinking of her instead of himself. That.. actually makes a lot of sense.
Cutting her free yourself gives you a pretty interesting take on this ending.

the Narrator is sympathetic because this Route shows how the reality he dreamed of - one without death or change, would become stagnant and unmoving as people become bored or just run out of things to do. Without an ending, they'd just be stuck there. And he's finally understanding just how horrible that would be, and how the Princess is NEEDED in the world, even if that meant his universe would end.
I figured as much. I just didn't say it because I didn't want to spoil the ending.
