The “Stratocaster” Tone.
Just alone tonight with me and my strat. Totally immersed in my little bubble of sound. This reverb is amazing and totally emphasized the beauty of THAT strat tone. Thanks for watching!

Nice
@@vischobeats6883 thank you!
Bought a lefty CV50s Telecaster back in 2020 and last year I tried my hands at replacing the pickups with the Custom Shop 51' Nocasters. The original pickups sounded good but I just wanted to try and see what it would sound like and it sounds louder and "tangier" , more chime to it, I like it. The only things about my CV that I would improve if I could is the weight and the "skunk" stripe lifting at the headstock end of the neck. The weight of my guitar must be at least 9 lbs. if not more and I didn't find any information anywhere as to how to fix the "skunk" stripe problem. Aside from these 2 things, I love this guitar.
@@hwnfrd that’s cool, I didn’t know they sold a nocaster set! You don’t see too many lefty teles around. What exactly is wrong with your skunk stripe? Is the truss rod adjustment weird on it?
@aquaneeds The skunk stripe is popping/lifting up from its channel on the neck, it doesn't currently affect the playability but if it starts lifting up more, then it will become rather uncomfortable. I got the Nocaster set on Amazon and I believe the seller was Adirondack Guitars and that was their last set they had left, the price I paid was like $225-250 , I believe.
@ I wonder if a C-clamp and some wood glue inside the cavity would hold it down. At least we can exchange necks…..*coughs* gibson
@@aquaneeds Right now it isn't lifting up enough that I could apply wood glue into the channel and clamp it down. A Gibson neck would be interesting but I like the feel of this Squire Tele neck the most out off all my guitars which does include a Gibson LP 60s Standard, the contour, radius, frets everything feels just right for me except the lifting skunk stripe.
@@hwnfrd oh I just meant that you can’t exchange necks out on gibsons like you can on fender/squier guitars. Keep me updated though, like to hear how the guitar comes along
That's pretty cool. I'd hang on to that. The guitar sounds great through it. Thanks for sharing.
@@winslowredcross2835 I plan on it, i know this stuff wasn’t well liked but i feel it still needs to be documented. I thought so too!! Thank you for watching.
It was cool to see you discover it worked as I know the auction description said it didn't, SCORE!

@@strato-dave same here! Got a richness to it that can’t be replicated digitally
Back in 2010 I found a 20th anniversary Squire Strat for 150 bucks. The neck is in perfect shape from the frets and the fret board. It never goes out of tune even after using the whammy at full drop. The only mod I plan is getting the loaded pick guard with the David Gilmore electronics. 🙂
@@michaelsingletary6056 that’s awesome to hear, there are some great ones out there. I’ve never heard of something with gilmour internals before.
Ooo very koo!
I know right?! I couldn’t find any videos on UA-cam about this thing. It sounds so nice, can’t wait to show more of it!
Right now I'm modding a Firefly EVH Striped. Already has a nice roasted maple neck and FR Trem. It's a comfortable player, so I decided to upgrade the pickup and bought a DiMarzio Evolution in black and red. It looks pretty cool. I also tossed the cheap volume pot and put in a Bournes 500k pot for smoothing control. Lastly, because I don't mind drilling, I'm installing a kill switch that is on its way as we speak. After that I'll just polish the frets up and get with it.
@@Eric_01 good to hear man! Sounds like a sweet build, always nice when you don’t have much to do to it
Nice channel you got! i subbed! keep up the good work
@desireguitars531 hey thank you very much, I really appreciate that! Trying my best to document some cool stuff
That neck looked crazy dry...and the spot looks like a glue spot...a sidways razor would have got rid of it
@@Jeremya74 yes that’s very true, at the time I didn’t have the tools to shave fret ends off but I pretty quickly bought another neck so I didn’t waste time oiling the stock one.
I picked up a 2019 bullet tele in surf green, string through body, for $119 new. I happened to find a pretty nice one in my local GC. Cleaned and dressed the frets, oiled the fretboard, put on a graphtech nut and Wilkinson tuners, new strings, and it plays great!
@@guithawk-ij8is damn 119 bucks!? Wow what a deal. Heck yeah, glad you got it setup nicely. Really it doesn’t take much to make these nice.
I managed to hit a great sale and had actually played that one before, so when I saw the sale I picked it up. They wanted to give me one from the back, but I insisted on that one because it was already decently set up. I have heard that they are inconsistent, but I was fortunate to get a really nice one.
@ yeah the inconsistent reply is correct. Mine was dog crap out of the box and moisture found its way into the guitar. But once cleaned and setup they are great!
I got an excellent condition used Fender Performer USA Tele for 800 at Guitar Center recently. I love modding stuff but these days I generally start with a nicer guitar that just needs one or two personal preference tweaks. Easier, cheaper, and it holds value better than putting 700 dollars into a Squier. I think all the CV Squiers really need are a setup and a better trem block on the Strats, then they’re ready to rock.
@@thegreatshocka honestly I do agree with that. Not only that; but you’d have better resell value for what it is and not what you put into it. That’s cool though, never used a performer before!
If you are going to talk about a brand you should probably figure out how it's name is actually spelled.
Thank you, didn’t realize I had it wrong
@@aquaneedsdang auto correct probably 🫡

You are supposed to finish the headstock by yourself to the shape you prefer
@@postoffice146 hahaha yeah something like that
I have a thing for these, have about 25, trying to get every model/color headstock and fret board maple & rosewood. I have the Starcaster J bass sunburst and looking for the bass amp and a better condition 15 watt guitar amp. Bass was latest acquisition and most expensive. Some folks think these are $400- $500 guitars, they are not. I also do the 2014 Gibson lower end melody maker's and looking for a 2014 SGJ.
@@baronoflivonia.3512 it’s hilarious to me that they made Starcaster basses. I’ve never seen one in the wild but I think it’s neat. I agree, not worth more than 200 but great for mods
Mine is a 2004, great bones but all electronics suck! Each color tells you what dept. store it was purchased at. They came with a guitar, gig bag and 10w amp. Mines a 3-color sunburst that were sold at Walmart. I paid $100 this year for the whole kit, like new, from the original owner. I plan on modding the electronics, tuners and bridge.
@@donrepcon7704 I’m thinking about doing this as well, kinda split on it though. Good luck though, that sounds fun.
@aquaneeds 👍🏻
That sounds truely awful! Fun and unusual guitar for a collection, though.
@@wilhelmhagberg4897 either way, yes it’s definitely a fun guitar to have around.
The Starcaster BRAND (that's the word your looking for) was, when it came out, a "cheaper than Squire" Fender brand that were really horrible guitars. A rosewood fingerboard isn't a big deal, the laws weren't really in place at the time, no need for Pau Ferro or Laurel (nothing wrong with those anyway). These ahd plywood bodies like the cheaper strat styles at the time, some squires and low prices Kramers to name a couple. When the real actual Starcaster guitars came out Epiphones were pretty horrible guitars too, the great Gibson built ones a thing of the past. This was before before Japan started sending us their good stuff; Ibanez and Yamaha were just starting to give us some pretty good stuff. Suddenly; BOOM! The Yamaha SG2000 and Ibanez Artist series came out followed by first gen Squires (great guitars). Years later you got the good Epiphones.
@@deanallen927 thanks for the info, have a good day.
I found one with the Strat type headstock at a thrift shop . Put Hipshot locking tuners , CTS pots , Tonerider Alnico II pickups , Switchcraft input jack . Also found a Made in Korea Fender Telecaster there and swapped out everything as mentioned above .Tonerider pickups are awesome !

So I recently bought a Squier Bullet at a pawn shop and noticed it has pick ups that's poles are different heights so this is a good thing I'm pretty sure right?
@@aarongrooms8881 yeah it could mean they are a non-squire set. Most squires I own/seen are flat but with the newer ones I’m not exactly sure.

A very complex and competitive guitar. Of the many years made, I like the 05. Some were not even dry when they hit the floors. I have a triple flamed neck on mine but I've owned 6 or so and had to sell them. Lots of secrets in them.

They came out with fender branded chinese starcasters(the hollow body) around 2013-2014 and it lasted about three years at the time they also re released the coronado sids by side with the hollow body starcaster , I'm pulling this from memory so i might be off a year or so with the dates of re release.
@@REX-ks1os thanks for the info, I don’t know much about these
I found an arrowhead bass could not get the out of town shop to ship it to me. They did start to get the smaller body thickness later in production .

I also modded one of these, I found the neck to be very good, but the pickups and pots to be complete crap. swapped the pick guard with one loaded with EMG pickups. It played very well, and my niece has it as her number 2 guitar.
@@rhythmandslide haha yes, pickups are super bad on mine but definitely plan on upgrading at some point. That’s awesome!
Were these not the guitars that came in the starter pack with a little amp, strap, bag etc.? I had one of these at one time.
@@richs7362 yessir, I forgot to say that in the video but you are correct.
People have said Starcaster is lower quality than Squier. Bottom of the Barrel. I've had a few Starcasters (with the standard strat headstalk,) and there's really no discernable difference.
