HOW TO: Tree & Shrub Survival Kits: The Best Way To Protect, Accelerate Growth.

How to use the tree survival kits (or shrub survival kits). Anyone planting trees and shrubs for wildlife is going to run into a couple obstacles; the wildlife that is starved for good native food is going to want to eat your plant, and the invasive vegetation is going to outcompete because the wildlife won't eat it. These survival kits are the best way to solve both problems! *One thing I forg...

In this video, I go over a recent experiment that I ran to improve food plot success while broadcasting seed. If installed in the shade, on a slope to catch run off, and you get normal rainfall, they stay full without a problem. It has to be a long dry stretch to empty them.

Water isn't the problem with EHD, it is the mud. So this holds water without mud and is a far better option than an earthen pond that always has a component of mud around it.

Can you send me pricing & info on your kits ? Thx again 👍⚾️🦌

Yes! Any tree and many shrubs will grow in the 72" tube. You will just want to trim lower branches in the tub until it is tall enough to grow branches above the tube (above deer browse height).

The best rain gloves I've found are neoprene gloves by Glacier Glove but they are kinda thick (even the thinnest) and can hurt dexterity. The best overall thin rain glove I've found is also super cheap. It's a pair of the heavy duty nitrile or latex gloves that LEO wear and put a thin liner or gardening glove over top of that. Just having your hands stay 100% dry is most of the battle. Also, you can bring a few back up pairs and change them out if something happens like rain running inside the palm.

I used to hunt a lot in the rain and had some bad experiences with losing blood trails and just getting soaked and freezing. Eventually I stopped (during archery) but have no issues going out with a rifle cuz I’ll hunt closer in the woods with a large caliber rifle and shoulder shot should drop em.. now I would utilize rain to get in closer to bedding like an hour or 2 before the rain stops… they tend to mull around near bedding during the rain anyway and then once it stops they really move around

On that note, second week of October myself and my son decided to use a rain storm to go hang a ladder stand so we would be more quiet and not mess up the spot after season started. After we get the ladder attached to the tree we see an absolute monster stand up about 70 yards away and start walking slowly away from us, had no idea we were there… it was bad I didn’t have my bow… but it was WORSE that my son didn’t have his rifle because I didn’t realize it was youth season!!! God what a mistake!

    • @theuntamedambition

But my 40 years of hunting I have observed for Deer Hunting in rain…. Bedding areas are important and when and how long rain last … we all agree dear do the majority of their feeding at night … depending on the distance between bedding areas and feeding areas will change if rain happens during time from and to these areas …and change there routes staying close to wood lines and woods and heave covered areas sometimes bedding in areas in between feeding and bedding… making short walks from bedding areas … during the Rut Bucks do crazy things so everything I said my be disregarded 😂

30+ years ago when I was a lot younger I did quite a bit of spot/ stalk in light rain with my long bow. Usually ended up being soaking wet. I would hunt the maze of miles of salt cedars along the Canadian river in the Texas panhandle. Killed quite a few deer and a lot of coyotes doing this. Was a challenge as I had to park about a mile away on good ground. That’s where I learned it’s easier to debone meat in the field to cut way down on the pack out weight. Then it was old military packs, nothing fancy like in today’s equipment. 👍👍

One of my biggest bucks i killed at 11am after getting soaked all morning in late October, i was in a doe bedding area and just as soon as the rain stopped 2 does was right there out of nowhere i must have been on top of them, i knew they was close but anyway soon as i seen them i looked to the right and there he was coming to check those does and i poked him, i learned a whole lot that day, last Friday i had my shooter in daylight a hr before dark just soon as the rain quit, but it was real close to his bedroom, if you have a rain storm move through watch the radar and dress proper and get in right before the rain stops and kill him, good video!🎉

My third biggest buck walked out of a bedding area like 30 minutes after a heavy rain stopped. I got in right at gray light and I knew it was supposed to rain and then stop by afternoon. I wanted to be in the stand when the rain stopped. I almost didn't make it because it was like 34 degrees and pouring. I didn't get wet, but just having continual cold water run over you sucks the heat out. Anyways, the buck got up and was shaking the rain out of his fur as he walked to 15 yards and stopped broadside. If the rain hadn't be projected to stop, I wouldn't have hunted all day in that heavy of a rain.
