How is Meps and what do you do? (Step by Step)
Переглядів 2373 роки тому
This is my experience at meps when I went back in June 2020. Any more questions you have leave in the comments down below.
What tips do you have to pass ASVAB and get the opportunity to get into 12T? I need advice first hand.
@@thaliaq7 there’s practice asvabs you can take online, I’d take those and practice those, I’d mainly focus on the math portion and mechanical question parts probably but overall best bet is taking practice asvabs online prior to taking one.
Did you have to do a urine test?
Meps yes. in reception no, in basic yes. They do one in basic thats 100% and then one later thats 50% might of changed might be more now but expect one in basic.
for the recovery drill. Are these the only stretches? overhead arm pull rear lung extended flex thigh stretch single leg over
groin stretch, calf stretch & hamstring stretch as well
@@privateruski7018 thanks
@privateruski7018 think you can break down the essays a bit more? Like give examples of what they are looking for?
@@Pryda-Z they give you a rubric with everything you need. as long as you include/do what's on the rubric you pass. I don't recall exactly what the rubric said, but they'll give you a topic on something military related (mine for example was education or leadership in the military) and you just have to right an essay on it. There's an essay on retention in the military or something of that sort but that one isn't for a grade, but is a requirement to graduate (first essay you do), then a informative essay, then compare and contrast essay which I believe is a topic they recycle every cycle and its only 250 words which is quiet easy. i believe they want a intro paragraph, 3-5 body paragraphs, and conclusion paragraph (for each essay). 15-20 words a sentence or something like that. I dont recall how much sentences a paragraph.
@@privateruski7018 thank you man!
Hey bro
Thanks for your video!!! As a mom this helped me understand what my son is going through at Ft. Leonard Wood reception!!!! He arrived on 6/17/24 and today is 6/23/24 and I’ve been a mess wondering what and how he’s doing!!! He begins BCT tomorrow Mon 6/24/24! I miss him so much and can’t wait to hear from him!!! He was excited going in, so I hope after being in reception for 5 days he’s still excited!
If you have a good civilian career is it good idea to join the guards and How common are the deployments in the national guard
yeah you gain more experience, get money for school if you feel like expanding your knowledge or getting more degrees/certificates, benefits are nice. Your employer can't legally fire you either if you were to miss work because of the guard as long as your provide the paperwork, but I haven't seen anyone have a problem from that yet. As far as deployments, a unit deploys on average every six years. Once a unit deploys they can't be deployed for another 6 years. But there has been units who haven't been deployed for longer . If you never want to be deployed their is always ways around it.
if you're doing purely for extra money i wouldnt do it unless planning on retiring in the guard or reaping the benefits.
Did they check your blood pressure
yes
@@privateruski7018 I’m assuming it’s the same as Meps 140/90 being the limit ? How many chances do you get before you’re sent home DQ’d I get quite nervous and always test high
@@ArmandoLopez-yl9qq i honestly wouldnt know i didnt have a big problem. Im sure its the same with meps. I usually have high blood pressure results when i do it even though if i ever do it myself its normal. So they always pull out the manual blood pressure out for me and im good to go.
@@privateruski7018 thank you !
@@ArmandoLopez-yl9qq you're welcome
Hopefully still no land nav
Finish 12T AIT Monday
congrats
Great video. What do you know about 12R?
I know its about 6 weeks long, and stay with the rest of us in the barracks. They have hands on learning with actual circuits, wiring, conduit bending, also classwork and tests. Don't think they do anything outside for class besides the FTX if they still do those. I plan on reclassing to it soon hopefully in the following months plan to make a video on it when I can.
My son got to fort Leonard wood at 3am today. I’m sure he’s having a similar experience.
So you can POV after graduation if you get Home Town Recruiting? Guess they want you out of barracks for next class?
yes, overflow was a problem, idk how it is now, from what i heard they got new barracks so might not be much of a problem now
So you have to get pass to even go places on base, and only weekends? Not being able to go to the gym and pool, was that just due to Covid? And did you have to have a battle buddy to go anywhere? (Like after training)
Yes, the farthest you can go without a pass was to the px near by to get a haircut or supplies, it was earned and im pretty sure they are back to the star board method where you have to earn it. They were bringing it back when i was leaving. The pool was revoked cuz of covid should be back now, but the gym they didnt let us go because their was supposed to be a drill sargent or instructor present there to watch. Idk why that was their reasoning, could of changed by now. And if you mean do you have to have a battle buddy after graduating ait then no. Unless youre still staying at company after you graduate till you leave, then yes. Battle buddy system after that doesnt really exist besides like riding in vehicles or deployment when you leave post.
I retired from this mos, any questions just ask and I’ll do my best to answer.
Did you deploy in this MOS and how often were you in the field with this MOS?
@@GaryStewart-pq8cc Yes we deployed, and you can expect to go to the field once a quarter.
I’m joining as a 12T! Already work in autocad for my job, hopefully it won’t be to boring those weeks!
In all honestly just might be boring for auto cad because they only teach the bare minimum/basics 😂
@@privateruski7018 definitely going to be bored 🙈 I work in autocad doing design for navy ships.. was it hard to find things to do during down time? I’m not good and siting still and relaxing, to ADD for that🙈
Can anybody watching this confirm if it's still like this?
It’s pretty spot on.
Which BLC did you attend?
218th Regiment Leadership in Columbia, South Carolina, McCrady training center to be exact
I thought you were Patrick Rinker for a second 😅
I am thinking about 12T reserve, Do you think it will help me to get a civilian job with 12T AIT and Reserve experience.
yes, got plenty of friends who got a job after ait for surveying, some even get jobs through people in the guard/reserve because thats what they do on the civilian side. In terms of experience, depends on your unit, my unit doesn't do much cuz we don't have any equipment while other units do stuff every month because they have equipment.
My husband just got to Leonard wood last night
I’m a 12b and I ship out to basic may 28
The Army needs to do better for these new Soldiers. It doesn't need to be this difficult.
I had my tech school at FTLW and one of the basic trainees came to our side of the defac. His drill Sgt chewed him out then said “your lost” he then began to circle our side of the defac yelling while holding his tray “ I’m lost” after about 5 min he yelled recalculate. The trainee then began to circle the other direction yelling “recalculating”. And we just were laughing our asses off at the poor guy. Verry funny. Not for him tho.
Thank you for your video, it really helps me to know what is happening with my fiancé who arrived in Fort Leonard Wood on November 20 and I have not heard anything from him or for Thanksgiving that other guys like him did have the opportunity to call his family, I have a question, when the reception ends and they arrive at the place where the training begins, the 10 weeks just starts? Or the reception time whether it is 1 or 2 weeks that I have seen that sometimes passes is part of the 10 weeks of training that they tell you, thank you and greetings Soldier!
I’m a 12b, really dislike my unit leadership….I’m thinking about changing my mos and currently enrolling to building construction management for college classes do you think it’s possible for me to talk to retention about changing my mos? I’ve been at my unit for only three weeks and I have a three year contract.
What duty station
My bf left the 19th of September… of this year and he’s suppose to be there for 20 weeks I’m so confused when he’s coming back 😭
My boyfriend just left. It helps me to feel close to him knowing what he’s doing while I’m still home doing my normal things. Thanks!
You’re welcome, glad I could help. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I also have a basic training video for what it’s like in basic
I go to basic/osut at fort Leonard wood for 31B September 5th
Enjoy, and make the best of it, definitely will feel long in the moment, but looking back, it flew it by
Im watching this rn, and i been thinking of reclass. Im active duty 12b and 12t seems like the move for the kind of career choice im trying to get in the civilian world. Thank you so so much for this. If there are any tips for switching or starting a new mos i would highly appreciate it!
Totally worth it if you’re planning to do in the civilian world. Had a couple friends get a job easily because of it. Though you aren’t like actually licensed like in the civilian world and just like a basic surveyor, you could easily get licensed and the army would cover it. Just gotta talk to the right people. In active duty you’ll actually be doing your job compared to guard or reserve so you’ll get more experience.
Do solider who reclass into this MOS like non IET get treated different?
Yeah they only had to show up to formation the same time as us but they did pt among themselves. We only ever saw them in class. Otherwise they had all the freedom
But I believe that’s only for active. I think for guard it’s different if you reclass because I have people in my unit reclass to something like 12B and they only have to attend a 3 week school at a base near me instead of going to Fort Leonard wood where 12B ait is really at. Though it might just be my states thing and not all of guard. So Im not 100% sure
@@privateruski7018 ahhh ok, yh im active and looking for a more civilian applicable job
What are some common places you can get stationed out of ait?
Germany, Korea, hood/cavsos, Polk/Johndon, Lewis, Ft Leonardwood.
stop doing those quotes its retarded
Did you get the peanut butter Shot in the butt or pills?
No contact to the outside world 1998. The Army got softed
I ship out on tuesday
I’m shipping to Leonard Wood in April for Basic and AIT. Going as a 12T also. May I ask what you do for work on the civilian side?
Hey. This MOS is currently open for entry. My question is do you think there is a lot of job opportunities available after completion of this MOS? Is there potential for work related to what you will learn or would you say another MOS trade is probably better??
This transfers to civilian world really well and you could get a job cuz of it. There’s also a lot of higher ups who do thsi for a living so they could always take you in into their companies.
@@privateruski7018 Dope. This was actually my alternative choice. Just signed my contract yesterday for my first choice which was 12W. But thanks again. Going to Fort Leonard wood for basic March 20. Nervous as hell lol.
@@ricardoz1137 nice, it will be easy dont let it get to you
How hard was shooting the rifle??
To me it was easy cuz I’ve shot before basic. But I mean it’s easy, not much recoil and they teach you how to use them. I only had one person fail qualifications in my company
My MOS is 12T at FLW. Do we sleep in the bays or do we have smaller rooms? I just graduated BCT yesterday. I was at ECHO 3-10. Where will the classes be at?
Do you get drug tested during reception?I ship the 21st
Also did you get the peanut butter shot?
no you get drug tested in meps and during basic once
@@AliasGoon yes, you dont get it if youre allergic to it
Thank you and @@privateruski7018 is the peanut butter shot as bad as they say?
@@AliasGoon its not the needle itself thats bad. Its the fact you can feel it going in and its thick like peanut butter. Then it feels weird and sore for like a couple days.
Does this MOS qualify you to get Surveyor License? Thanks!
no but you can get it through the army's program after ait. They'll pay for it. It's called army ignited
Not really
How long do you stay home after you graduate from AIT? Or do you start work immediately after AIT
i got home and was told to contact my RSP within 72 hours i believe. Then i called and they told me when to come in and what to bring. After that they process me in and tell me when to come by again to do a "battle hand off" to my unit which was the month after. so my first drill with my unit wasnt until 2 months after i came back
@@privateruski7018 Thanks Bro
Were you paid during the waiting period? Before you start your work? @privateruski7018
Really informative video. Do you know how much college credit can be obtained from ait?
I believe 18 max but it’s whatever the college takes as well
@@privateruski7018 Thank you so much.
If you have weekends off in AIT what do you do with your time? Are there any requirements on weekends, meaning do you still have PT or go to DFAC with your company?
Me personally I slept or watched movies. And get a haircut when I needed one. But no there’s no PT but you can go outside and down your own PT. You do have to go to breakfast with the company cuz pass is after breakfast and ends before dinner chow so you’ll eat dinner chow with the company as well. Lunch if you stay, you have to go with the company to the dfac. Though you don’t have to eat. If you’re out on pass you can go get your own lunch and don’t have to come back for lunch
@@privateruski7018 Were you Bravo Company 169th?
