Переглядів 1869 годин тому
Thanks for watching and taking part in our journey for a life more free. We are building an off-grid homestead in hopes to obtain self-sustainability. In this video, we share all of the different ways a skid steer with forks could be useful on the homestead. The forks proved to be incredibly valuable. I don't know how we did anything without them!

Переглядів 537Місяць тому
Hey everyone! We are so glad you decided to stop by and see what we are up to on the homestead. In this video, Joe and I are building a fence for our lagoon. This will allow us to not only get an address, but build a bathroom on the homestead! This is a huge task to accomplish by ourselves. We were quoted $4500 from an outside company to put it up for us! So even with the challenges we faced, w...

Hey there! We are so glad you stopped by to see what we are up to. There is a new project everyday! Joe and I are working on making the "bedroom" of the tiny house. We don't use the loft space and I am terrified of heights, so it makes sense to tear it out. But once we get it out, then what?

Hi! We are so glad you stopped by. Joe and I are feeling super excited about all of the changes to the farm. This week, we were able to establish running water with a hose for the animals. This makes watering them so much easier and less burdensome. We are looking forward to putting the next system in place. Each thing we do helps the next thing, and the next thing, and so on...

Hey there! We are so glad you stopped by to check out what we are doing on our homestead. In this video, Joe and I are working in the animal pen for the very first day the animals have been here. Thanks for being here, we ar...

    Hope you found your O-Ring. using a piece of small speaker wire will help with installing it if there are two races and you have to get the seal to the second race.

      Thanks Rich. There is one thing for sure, there is nothing easy about this life. But, there is great satisfaction knowing how your food was treated and where it came from. So I guess, the hard part pays off in the end.

    Greetings from Western Canada! If my opinion is worth something, I believe that the most important aspect of your excellent installation is all of the love and supportive encouragement that you received throughout this entire video. When a man is encouraged and supported, by those who love him, even what seems to be impossible - becomes possible. Well done!

    What kind of gas milage did you get? and What was your avg speed? I presume you kept it under 70 (if it would even go that fast)? I'm deciding between the 26 Diesel from Penske or the Same 26 you used from U-Haul. I know I will load mine heavy so fuel economy/cost is a concern. Thank You.

    • @americanrootsfarm
      @americanrootsfarm 9 днів тому

      There were a number of factors that went into the fuel cost. We were towing and that added to the fuel charge. We rented three different ones overall, all U-Haul. A diesel would be the way to go, in my opinion.

    Hi Folks; I don't know where you live now so your range of searching may be different than others, but someplace you might not have considered (I now it sounds weird unless you have been here), is Northern Arkansas, I looked everwhere before amd landed here. lots of trees amd water, gpod land prices and cities within less than two hours from anywhere. Plus, if you are planning to build, you can do so with your own trees with only a sawmill. If you are interessted let me know. Thhere are also lots of business idea that work in this area. Skip

    Jess amazing work y’all did!! Question: what is the lagoon’s purpose and why fenced in?

    • @americanrootsfarm
      @americanrootsfarm Місяць тому

      Hi there! Great question. The lagoon is for waste water and it is fenced in because we have livestock and the state environmental services require it to be fenced in to obtain a use permit.
