Button Bowls are Beautiful
Button Bowls are Beautiful - a tutorial by Buttontopia
___
If you have seen these on pinterest, you will have found that the instructions are fairly hard to find. We searched & searched for some step by step instructions to make the process of making a button bowl easy, we ended up making our own tutorial to make your project easier.
To make a button bowl you will need:
- Buttons
- A balloon
- Glue (we use Selleys Aquadhere, as its non toxic & drys clear)
- a Pin
- small scissors
Step 1:
Blow up the balloon to your desired sized bowl
Paint a thick coat of the PVA glue directly onto the balloon, and let dry
Step 2:
start to stick your buttons on, place some large buttons onto the base, to form a solid base of the endbowl
Keep the buttons close together, using micro buttons to fill any gaps.
Use glue to cover the buttons, once you are happy with their position pour a thick layer of glue all over the bowl, particularly over the base, and anywhere the buttons are not actually touching.
Allow to dry (24 hours is good)
Step 3:
Using your pin pop the balloon, and gently pull the balloon away from the glued buttons
Use the scissors to cut away any excess or untidy glue.
Time stamps
00:15 - What we need
00:29 - Step 1 - initial glue lyer
01:23 - Step 2 - placing the buttons
06:23 - Step 3 - popping the balloon

Very cool! I have a paper type button so I am thinking sealing them first then gluing them with Modge Podge a paper mache type product. I bought the paper buttons by accident so this is a great way to use them, thank you!!

Ooh, I loved this concept.....thanks!! I've got a horde of buttons, too.....unsorted, also.....grab the grands for a sort night.....then do your bowl craft.........IDEA: Pop in a non button instead of a button and play "Where's Waldo".....since I learned the Mistake Rib Knit Stitch, I purposefully put in a mistake in my work.....why not? LOL!! A 'non button' would be something gluable.....how about those gold fish gem thingies....or a yarnie stitch marker, or a sticker gem, or a square button.....odd shaped buttons.....fill in the colored gravel here and there.......The skies the limit; @@
