This camera does not have a 'parking mode'. There are other models that are wired to constant and 12V switched sources and usually rely on either time lapse or motion detection. I have Viofo cameras on four other cars that have parking mode. They required a specific harness.

I had a devil of a time trying to just get the standard one in place. It was a tight fit. Im glad I didn't have to deal with a rear camera cable. I wish you good fortune in trying to piece all that together.

It does on my excursion. If your mirror is one of those that has the adhesive button 'glued' to the window, I might be leary of it's load bearing capacity. Most of my current mirrors I have now are mechanically fastened to the roof and no longer rely on an adhesive.

Nice! Glad you found the issue. These old trucks can last a LONG time if you’re willing to put a little love into ‘em. One of my sisters has a 2006 F150 with 450K miles on it with the original engine and trans still. The one in this. I’d belonged to my other sister. She didn’t drive as much and only has a little over 130K now.

Yep, covering the 6 bucks for the plates, not the 200 extra miles of driving I’m saddled with in my Ford Excursion.

I picked up the car today and they did NOT, in fact, cover the cost of the plates. It was just $6.50, but still. It’s the principle of the thing.

I did not disconnect anything. The voltage is low to the mirror. Max voltage would be 12V. There are no exposed wires, it’s only a single plug so I think you’d have to work at it to short anything out.

Yeah behind those neat Fitcamx installation, there might be inevitable broken clips behind that only he is aware :) Fortunately Audi designed redundantly for those clips so it will still holds well even if one of two clips were broken. I wonder why newer car doesn't have dash camera factory installed that I am willing to pay for.

The Q4 is based on the same architecture as the VW ID.4. They don't tend to have many issues with EA chargers so my guess is that the problem lies with the EA Station. It's possible it is with the car but not likely. Each EA station seems to have its little quirks and I think you may have found one that freaks out a bit once it gets hot. I would definitely try another station and if a DCFC session on another provider stops part way through, it's gonna be the vehicle.

Sounds like she shuts down when she gets hot, kind of like my wife during hot flash.

That is correct. This is why I was disappointed in the features of this camera. The only thing it had going for it was the fact that it blended nicely with the interior. In the heat of South Texas it sometimes begins "graining" the video very badly. I really should have stuck with Viofo.

I open carry now anyway. It was just fun using the thermal camera to see those trying to hide it.

I've been trying to get a video out about the resolution of this process but Audi has the car back again now for a leaky sunroof and a battery module replacement and calibration. Basically they finally listened to me and looked at the logs which showed a heat issue in the actual charge port. They replaced the port and it has been charging correctly now for about a month (of course that was a month ago before I took it back to audi for its current round of issues). There was also a cash settlement involved because I did file a federal breach of warranty claim. I'll get into that when I get the car back and can complete the latest video on the Audi.

I can't wait! I'm looking forward to swapping my kilt for some lederhosen for a bit.

Still sounds like an IAC (Idle Air Control) issue. If it is not something in the throttle body, it may be a PCM issue. Right now I'm battling an issue on my other Sister's truck where after it is warm it shudders under load and under 2K RPM. I am probably going to try to SWAP out PCM's and see if it has an effect. Since I have 2 2006 F150s I'm hoping I can change out the PCM and the lock cylinder (Since the keys have a transponder in them) to test and then without having a PCM reprogrammed.

OOF! Sorry to hear about this. In the U.S. there are "Lemon Laws" to help with this type of issue. I'm sorry I don't know more about the U.K. laws regarding warranty and manufacturer responsibility. I just got my Etron back from its 6th visit to Audi in a year and I haven't seen my charging issue pop back up yet (I've had it back about a week). I am of a similar mind as you that Audi will not be getting any more of my business. I hope for the best for you my friend.

Yeah. When I kept looking at it I was turning the top toward me so I was looking down through it from the top so my "Clockwise" was backwards. I find it pretty funny now but I was pretty frustrated then.

I had been through the fuel filter as part of regular maintenance. It is inexpensive and fairly easy to replace so I would say if it hasn’t had a fuel filter in a while go ahead and replace it. As far as the sensor, the only one that I would be concerned with really would be the oxygen sensor. Normally, when those go bad, though, it throws a check engine light. None of the lights on the dash had anything to do with the O2 sensor. That’s why I went straight to the throttlebody.

Agreed. I would at least reach out to your statute’s DOT to check the lemon laws. You may be able to receive some sort of compensation. Audi is not likely to ‘help’ in the lemon law process so I would do some research and submit some queries and paperwork to see about getting something going. Good luck!!!

Urgh. I feel your pain. Sorry that happened to you. I know when I sell/trade mine I'm gonna take a bath on it. Audi last told me that my chargers that I had were not rebust enough to charge the vehicle so that is why it would fail to charge. Guess what, yesterday, with the Audi branded charger I bought brand new it failed to charge again. I have spent $900 on EVSEs to try and charge this beast at the request of Audi and it did not fix the issue. She's going back to the shop tomorrow. I love the car when it runs. Unfortunately that is a semi-rare occurance.

I already limit to 80% just to make the battery last so I won't see a huge difference. I'm sorry you're feelin' the pain of etron ownership too. This is garbage. We paid a premium price for a premium automobile and got substandard junk. Software issues and "Beta testing" hardware is why I didn't buy a Tesla... I would have expected better from Audi.

Ahhh, but forever hasn't happened yet so it isn't permamnent, I just haven't reached the end of its "temporary-ness". ;) I actually do have an electrician buddy who I'll be working with in the next few weeks that will be helping me run some 6 guage 4 wire romex and install some NEMA 1450Rs from my outside panel. I can't wait to see how fast my Caddy charges when it gets 11KW to it.

@@kiltedtexan 14-50 is for a 50A breaker. All continuous loads must be 80% of that, so that means the EVSE will draw 40A, not 50A. 40A x 240V = 9.6 kW. 11.5 kW is only possible if you pick a hardwired EVSE, because that allows a 60A breaker, and a 48A continuous loasd. 48A x 240V = 11.5 kW. Hardwired is a much better option, because it only needs 2 hot wires and a ground. A 14-50 receptacle requires an extra wire for neutral. Plus a receptacle requires a GFCI breaker, whereas with a hardwired EVSE, the ground fault is built into it. Receptacles also have a higher risk of fires. Seriously, go hardwired. Cheaper, better, safer, more performance. Copy paste this and show this to that electrician and I 100% guarantee that person will 100% back all of this.

Everywhere. I tried lvl 1, lvl 2 and DCFC chargers and it would not charge. Hopefully a software bump fixes mine. You’re right that a car of this price tag should be of a caliber that we shouldn’t be experiencing issues like these. I’ll count myself lucky that I just had the charging and dashboard bubbling issue.

your issue with charging seems to be different than the recall issue which is related to fire hazard and is rectified by using a 3rd party level 2 charger

I'd venture to say I like similes. I think it takes too much brain power to come up with equivalencies without using the words 'like' or 'as'.

The ground is handled by the attachment to the screw on the side of the dash. It is a common ground on the USB-C wire. No additional grounding is needed. On F52 the fuse will need to be in the bottom half of the slot to deliver ACC power.

Easiest way to think of electricity is like a stream. It will flow. It needs to flow from the positive through the ‘loop’ to the ground or negative. If you don’t ground it, it doesn’t close the loop. Unfortunately October 2022 it was hooked up to my house charging when my house was struck by lightning. It fried the car. It took my insurance company 9 months to total out the car.

Does this install effect the battery life

It does not. I't like plugging in an iPhone on a big cummins rooftop generator. you will never notice the difference. Plus, the max time the camera will "parking record" is 48 hours in time lapse mode.
