    Agreed. Estimates are not the same as actual measurements. Nobody estimates their race results after they ran a race, so why should they estimate their MaxVO2? Regarding target heart rate zones, there seems to be a lot of variability among athletes in terms of how their hearts respond to training intensity levels. The shorter the race distance, such as going down to 100 meters, the less important cardiovascular function becomes relative to coordination and muscle power. Similarly, there is a continuum of energy sources used as one goes from shorter faster races like 800m up to 1500/mile, 3K/3200m, 5K, etc up through ultramarathons through 6 Day races and 1000 mile races. Don Kardong (2:11 mar) told me to run according to how I feel. I love numbers and value data, and we need to use it within the context of whether we are adapting (as measured by not only data but also how we feel, which is not always quantified by ex phys data since there may be other factors involved). I have worked with 2:19 (M) & 2:35 (F) marathoners.

    Saddle angle will also have an effect of this, if the saddle is angled too far forward the saddle is basically pushing you into the handlebars which is causing you to put even more body weight into your hands and wrists, its unnecessary strain on your wrist and hands.

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 5 місяців тому

      You set your seat height depending on your leg length in relation to your pedals, you set the seat height to where your legs are almost fully stretched out when the pedals is at the bottom of the rotation. And on a road bike and gravel bike this is normal seating position so you have less wind resistance. This isn't a mountain bike or a 20" where you have an upright seating position.......
