Given this man’s attempt to bully a neighbour by cutting off access to his home is going on now, I suggest you remove this video which shows a completely false impression of this man.

Bought the book as a result of the furore and found it to be a really powerful argument FOR multicultural education. The way she empowered her middle east emigre pupils to write from their own perspectives rather than ape current US fads led to some really powerful testimonies of what it was like to be a child caught up in warzones like Afghanistan. The people who have come down on her and are demanding rewrites seem to be doing it for self promotional purposes as none of their accusations hold water when placed against the main narrative. They complain about the use of "chocolate skin" while ignoring the use of the term "olive skin" a few sentences on. They take a single phrase about how two specific autistic kids may irritate her after an hour from a five page hymn as to how talented and original the kids in question are despite their inabilities to understand social cues etc. All in all a really powerful and moving book which I fully reccomend.

If an appropriate question could be asked, then surely this would rise a tide of contemplation, both in the audience and the speaker. Wouldn't you agree?
