Learning to Pull Shots with my La Pavoni
where did you find a dosing funnel that fits the Caravel?
hi! i had it made by Ipok Tala ig page: instagram.com/ipoktala/ I also ordered the Caravel tamper from them and wooden handles for my la pavoni.
I get a lot of coffee machines that I sell on my channel. I would love to have your skills. Compliments
What size of the basket that one use? Can you fit a precision one? 51mm La pavoni for example?
hello! size is 43.5mm :)
Bloody fantastic!! You need SMZeus.
Nice video, want to try it myself. Love the scale btw, what brand is it? Thanks for sharing!
Nice! Where did you get the wooden handles from?
hello! I got the wooden handles from Ipok Tala - instagram.com/ipoktala/
Hi, Just watched your video. Very nice. By the way I noticed on your first pull that there was a leak from above the insolator area between the group head and the boiler. May need a new gasket or tighten the bolts.
thanks! I've fixed the leak by tightening the bolts 😁
Where did you get your machine?
Nice 👍

Looks great mate. Thanks.
Thanks so much ... received my Apollo for Christmas from my wife and son and spent the last few days trying to figure out what you so clearly demonstrate in this clip. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄☕
I'm glad this video helped. I hope you're able to brew lots of great coffee with it. Cheers!
Channeled a lil bit m8

is a millennium? becouse in my pre millennium i can only fit 11,5 grams on the ims basket
yes. it's a millennium. I bought the IMS double basket from coffee-sensor. where did you get your ims basket? I checked in coffee-sensor and the IMS double basket for pre-mill says it can handle 12-14 grams. coffee-sensor.com/product/la-pavoni-lever-49mm-ims-competition-double-filter-basket-b582th22/
@@jonrussellcua i got myne from bluestarcoffee. The puch touch the showe head always and i dont know if is good or bad
@@andreacapani2170 I believe there should be a small space between the shower screen and your coffee puck. This would allow water to flow evenly and you'll have better extraction.
i would like to Give You my best wishes for this beautiful Content keep the la Pavoni content ❤
thank you! 😁
A three camera shoot. Much more than I expected and very appreciated.
Wow, My best friend, Wonderful video dear. I enjoyed watching. Hope to see you soon...

Wow, Beautiful Upload friend. keep it up. Thank you for sharing this to us. Greetings from Korea
I refer to my LP as the ‘lie detector’ because it will show up any faults very quickly and without remorse! But I love it. I put 17gr in my 51mm basket, I’m going to try 15 tomorrow. Your second shot was still too fine imo, you should be able to push the lever down with a minimal amount of force, not try to pull the group head off the boiler, in the end if you get great coffee that’s all that counts, maybe invest in a very good electric grinder. Don’t take my observations personally, I’ve been working the LP for a long time and like I said it’ll tell you what you don’t want to hear! Good job, they’re the best coffee maker ever.
You’re very fast with the first move of the lever but the video is very good at showing how much force is needed to create the 9bar. I don’t have the pressure gauge and I expect I don’t achieve 9bar.
You seem to get rather big shot even though you didnt do a fellini. Do you remember how many grams?
I usually get 34 to 35 grams output :)
@@jonrussellcua That is good, guess post mil little better than pre mil also when it comes to shot size.
Where did you get those rubber mats for distributing and tamping?
i bought it online. shopee.ph/Anti-slip-Bar-Rubber-Mat-PVC-Pad-Coaster-Barber-Insulation-Cup-Mug-Whiskey-Beer-Drink-Rail-Bar-Mat-i.159293641.9059335074
i like you are coffee michine is interesting and cream is beautiful!
thanks! I'm so happy that i got this machine 😁
Finally found the OG
I'm not the OG. I got the idea from this video 😆 Link 👉👉ua-cam.com/video/8zvZkX5uk_A/v-deo.html
@@jonrussellcua allow me, may i know why you call it aerocano? Thanks
hi @@ahwaifung! when I first released this video last year I only called it frothed americano but then it got famous recently this year and a lot of youtubers named it "Aerocano".

Hey where did you buy it from ?
Hi! I bought it from Bong Juachon. He restores vintage coffee machines to great working condition. You can contact him here facebook.com/papa.bong.7
How much ?

Amazing shot! love the crema. I also just get a arrarex vam. Can't wait to pull a god shot.
Thank you! 🙏 It's a beautiful machine and I really enjoy preparing and pulling shots with it. Have fun with your Arrarex Vam!!
Is it more fun than the pavoni?
Can't say one is more fun than the other because for me they have different purposes. I use both of them everyday. LP for cortado in the morning or after lunch then caravel for single shots in the afternoon or after dinner. I also would like to preserve the original look of the Caravel as much as possible and I've got no plans to make any modifications. I just love the way it looks and it reminds me of a hood of a Lincoln or Cadillac. As for the LP I plan to make modifications in the future and make it look something like a steampunk machine :)
wow, you need to clean the ants away from the countertop
Looks like your puck is channeling in your demonstration, probably a bitter/sour pull.
yup! I've been using this machine for only a month when I made this video and it's my first espresso machine. you can check my latest videos. I've been trying to improve my puck prep, pre-infusion, and shot pull :)
With levers, id recommend: After introducing water into the grouphead, 1. Pull lever to 2-3 bars for 10-15s for preinfusion. 2. Ramp up to 7-8 bars moderate speed, not too slow and not too fast. 3. Maintain at 7-8 bars (from after preinfusion) for 26-28s 4. Last 2-4s (overall pull not including preinfusion = 30s) slowly ramp down to 6 bars and stop shot. So far this has been my fav recipe and i like to keep my ratios around ristretto to espresso range. Ristretto mainly.
ohhh nice I'll try that sometime. looks like we have a similar recipe :) Preinfusion = total of 30s - Raise lever then for wait for about 5s - Pull lever to 2-3 bars for about 10s until small amount of liquid comes out - wait until 30s Shot Pull = total of 30s - Ramp up to 7-8 bars - Maintain at 7-8 bars for 20-25s - ramp down for the last few remaining seconds - hard stop at 30s total time = 1 min :) 15g in/36-38g out.
@@jonrussellcua almost the same! Hehe. May i confirm on waiting 30s after 10s of 1-2bars, is it no pressure applied or 1-2 bars for 30s?
@@miin108 no pressure applied :)
hi man. if you like lever machines) and you have spare money try to get ponte vecchio export)
that's a beautiful machine. I'm also eyeing for a faemina or microcimbali :)
Well done. Your coffee station is as bright and clean as an operating room. Nice video production, thank you
Thank you! 🙌😆
Can we have the link where did you get that pressure gauge?
here -> www.bplus.biz/products/extracting-kit-with-pressure-profiling-gauge-for-la-pavoni-lever-machine
15g in a standard basket?
yes 15g :)
@@jonrussellcua I will try tomorrow =)
@@rg9710 how did it go? :)
@@jonrussellcua horrible! Nothing came out :) I own a post Mill. maybe thats why. I also think I have to invest in a good grinder. I think I will buy a Kinu. The bplus stuff is not available in Germany =(
🙄 P r o m o S M.
that shot looked like it had a channeling
yeah. I've been using this machine for only a month when I made this video and it's my first espresso machine 😁 you can check my latest videos. hopefully my shots have improved 😆
nice! how many bars?
thank you! I usually play around 6 to 8 bars :)
@@jonrussellcua damn this looked like you put your whole weight on that lever :D
I think, among other things, that you should try to raise the lever before placing the portafilter, so as to avoid vacuum lifting of the puck. Also give some time to pre infusion. It’s a good thing, the pressure gauge!!! Congrats!!!
how long do you do pre-infusion? I usually do only 10 seconds :)
Nice shot!
thank you! :)
nax! thanks for showing how to adjust the apollo grinder!!!!
Can you do a video on how to adjust the grind setting for the grinder? I'm having trouble setting mine
check out my latest video :) it includes how I adjust my grind setting and also setting to 0. ua-cam.com/video/DvEXnvUfubw/v-deo.html

Looks good! Love the cascading espresso.
It tastes amazing as well!! Glad you liked the video 😊
Hi! some say the Apollo has a lot of static, do you reckon it's true? :)
just do some light slaps/taps (around 5 times) on the catch cup and almost all the grounds will fall. never had a problem with static :)
@@jonrussellcua Hi! thanks! 😊 how do you think it compares with the other high tier grinders!? i need one for a cafelat robot espresso 🤯
@@KingArth i think you can't go wrong with any of the high tier grinders specially with Apollo, Kinu, Comandante Red Clix, etc... you'll be able to pull great shots with them once you get the correct grind size and make very small adjustments just to tweak the taste a little. my friend's setup is cafelat robot + Comandante Red Clix and he's able to pull amazing shots with it. in the end it just boils down to aesthetics. the deciding factor for me was that I'm using a La Pavoni machine and the Apollo grinder has the La Pavoni logo on it :)
@@jonrussellcua 😁😁😁 Thanks!!
Can this also grind coffee beans to be course for pour overs?
yes it can :) I use this for my v60 and kalita wave as well.
great content mate!
Thank you! 🙏😀
