During the end of the year firings we experiment with techniques, such as black pottery (Oaxaca, San Ildefonso) Navajo horse hair pottery, raku, and saggar. High school students are steady different cultures and then produce a piece of pottery inspired by that culture. With these firing processes, students are allowed to participate in the fin...

Thought the ears were a funny shape and then the inspiration showed up. No yeah, yeah. I see it. That rules.
How did you make it and how did you glaze it? It looks very good I hope you love using it.
I have my magnet up there my magnet is the Jersey devil
Yay! So glad you spotted it!
This was such a beautiful experience
If your willing to share, how can I get the template from Google classroom?

We have a few we will be glazing next week!
Would you mind making a Part 2 to this series on plate making. I would love to see the finished firing, then the glazing. Please would you?
Amazing job! The small carving on the top of the handle brings just a bit more to a nice piece. Keep up the good work!
Agreed! He did a great job! Ty!
So much respect for you Tony Soares. I've learned a lot from you. PLEASE don't use clay from Salton Sea. It is TOXIC. I worry about that.
no muestran el desarrollo de su trabajo, me parece muy egoísta
I never knew this technique exists! Love it I will give it a try thanks for showing the process ❤️
THATS AMAZING <333333333
Thank you!
ok but if you're TEACHING then yes, students should not have nails, they get in the way. OFC it can be done, but until the student can sculpt with regular hands they shouldn't have nails
I see your point. I’m not going to tell them they can’t because there are ways to do it successfully. Many sculptures are are created with hands and tools.
I think it pretty cool you don't even have that long LONG nails it perfect and also everyone should not let something like nails get in the way of what want to do. If you can do ceramics with nails that's pretty cool not a lot of people can do that.
My nails vary in length through the year. In this video they are short because I had just completed 75 bowls and 100 mugs.
Also, check out part 2 to see the student works with their nails 😊
@@MrsEstoch Oh its still not bad at least their not like 10 inch long nails, omg sure ty <3
Nastiness...
I mean it makes sense because you can’t use your fingers to make a bowl or other things that require shaping the inside and outside. If you did have nails you couldn’t do the inside part because they would stab into the clay.
Yet here is a video of someone doing just that 😊
@MrsEstoch I don't really consider these long nails. More like 4" from the finger tip long nails. Wearing nails that long make it unnecessarily difficult to do anything.
I agree, it can. See part 2 for some students figuring it out 😊
Linda técnica. Ótima para fazer vasos rústicos!
Gracias!
Tony ist the Potterking
Yes he is!!
Que CHULADA , Maravillosas piezas...CONGRATULATIONS
Gracias!
Excellent . Thank you
What's written on it? Is that Italian? An Italian family name? Like a Tuscany theme?....oooOOOOoooh. gottit.
I bet that was a lot of fun and super informative 😊
Making a corrugated pot is a slow process. However fun and worth it. From time to time I build one, I would like to see more poters play with this technique.
It was a beautiful technique. I hope to encourage and teach more of my students to try it.

Wligolaloka! Beautiful work.
CODE for Google Classroom, please
If I choose any shape I can just draw a circle in the middle of it and make an origami templet of any shape.
beautiful work!
How am I able to get the templates? I need a code for the Google classroom
Beautifully done demo! Soothing to watch. I’ll have to give this a try. Thank you for sharing your talent. 😊
Gorgeous olla, April! I love the shape!
Nice job, camera work makes it easy to see what you are doing. Black and white eliminates distractions. I'll give it a try.
Wonderful!
That's one cool pot. Especially love the quarantine banner. The handles, the ... umm ... fluting(?) of the neck and the little marks at the base really make it zing. How did you finish this? Bare clay, glaze, oxides?
It was glazed and high fired.
I’ll grant you, it’s a splendid pot, but it would be so much faster if you would throw.
I agree but the point of the video was to show at home items being used to make pottery during quarantine. Most people and students do not have access to wheels at home.
Wow that's incredible! Well done!
Thank you!

Hi! How were you able to keep the clay from falling? Did you use the blowdryer?
If the walls are too soft and will not support the weight, yes, a blow dryer will help it harden to continue working. Thanks for the question, and thanks for watching!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
i know I dont use ceramics and all... but this is a cool idea for the future, if I get to go to the pottery club in highschool!
Thanks! I hope you get to experience working with clay! It is so relaxing and rewarding!
