    ok but if you're TEACHING then yes, students should not have nails, they get in the way. OFC it can be done, but until the student can sculpt with regular hands they shouldn't have nails

    • @MrsEstoch
      @MrsEstoch Рік тому

      I see your point. I’m not going to tell them they can’t because there are ways to do it successfully. Many sculptures are are created with hands and tools.

  • @melissabender3341
    @melissabender3341 Рік тому

    I think it pretty cool you don't even have that long LONG nails it perfect and also everyone should not let something like nails get in the way of what want to do. If you can do ceramics with nails that's pretty cool not a lot of people can do that.

    • @MrsEstoch
      @MrsEstoch Рік тому

      My nails vary in length through the year. In this video they are short because I had just completed 75 bowls and 100 mugs.

    @braydensweeney9188 Рік тому

    I mean it makes sense because you can’t use your fingers to make a bowl or other things that require shaping the inside and outside. If you did have nails you couldn’t do the inside part because they would stab into the clay.

    • @MrsEstoch
      @MrsEstoch Рік тому

    • @tizikin11
      @tizikin11 Рік тому

      @MrsEstoch I don't really consider these long nails. More like 4" from the finger tip long nails. Wearing nails that long make it unnecessarily difficult to do anything.

    • @MrsEstoch

    That's one cool pot. Especially love the quarantine banner. The handles, the ... umm ... fluting(?) of the neck and the little marks at the base really make it zing. How did you finish this? Bare clay, glaze, oxides?

      If the walls are too soft and will not support the weight, yes, a blow dryer will help it harden to continue working. Thanks for the question, and thanks for watching!
