The UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) is a global Centre of excellence on biodiversity. The Centre operates as a collaboration between the UN Environment Programme and the UK-registered charity WCMC. Together we are confronting the global crisis facing nature.
Supporting National Biodiversity Monitoring systems to scale up implementation of the GBF
The National Monitoring Support Initiative aims to strengthen national biodiversity monitoring systems for enhanced implementation of the Kunming - Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the project focuses on building national capacities for monitoring and reporting progress towards global biodiversity targets. It seeks to develop inclusive and gender-responsive approaches over seven years, mobilizing resources, enhancing national data management, and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including indigenous communities, NGOs, and international organizations, to ensure effective and transparent implementation of biodiversity commitments.
