The verses were written by John. I think John was taking a (soft) jab at the 'beautiful people"; people born into wealth, living a charmed life. He is challenging them to live a more enlightened life. The chorus was written by Paul. He is saying, "Hold on a minute, you are a rich man now".

These songs were recorded between August and October 1980. John was killed December 8, 1980.

Had the good fortune to see AL STEWART in a small club, with Dave Mason, an excellent two man show. Just as Al was coming to the stage I was headed to the men's room, and we came face-to-face for a moment. It struck me that Al looked very much like a cat, a wide face with a hint of whiskers. Of course he sang "Year Of The Cat", it was his biggest hit.

Al is a great folk rock singer from the 70's some other good ones by him "Time Passages" "Nostradamus" "Palace of Versaillies" "Song on the radio"

These cats knew how to rock a party back in the 70's!

Sweet! And smooth! "Use Ta Be My Girl" was a hit when I was a eleven. When I listen to the song now it often reminds me of riding in the back seat of the car while my buddy's sister drove us places in the summer. The first verse lays out how they came to break up: "When she was mine \ I used to neglect her \ Oh, she wanted more \ Than I could give". Sweet! Super catchy hook in the refrain, like many songs by The Beatles. Lyrics-wise, the references to musical considerations, "natural e", "another key", suggest they kept some of the placeholder words they used when writing the song. When I was a kid I used to think their lyrics meant something greater, more profound, than what they were on the surface. As I got older and learned more about them and what they were going through at various times I came to see how the lyrics reflected their personal situations and how they were peppered with inside references and the like. Here I suspect John Lennon is questioning his wealth and fame as he comes to terms with his insecurities. But he also holds out for the reality that there are different kinds of richness in the world, enough so that even a poor man can feel rich when he feels loved by family and friends.

This was about his dad. Julian was still young and was still feeling the effects of not having his dad anymore

So glad young people are not only discovering the Queen Of Funk Chaka Khan , but also are discovering that she how she got that name, because before she had a stellar solo career, she was the lead singer in the Funk bad Rufus from the early 70’s to the early 80’s, and they had so many legendary funk/ R&B albums and singles in that time. 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And on top of that, the band members of Rufus were great singers and musicians who played on many other hits for other artists in the 70’s and 80’s.

A "Schism" is the division of an organization or institution, when the people developing differing or opposing view points. For example, when a religious denomination splits due to changing oppinions; resulting in two separate denominations.

My brother had this album, and I really liked it, so he gave it to me. I heard it was a true story but have never seen any of their videos. They were a bit of a niche band among tbe fans of Metal. "Stonewall" is a song I remember pretty well - his vocals are at a lower register. Thanks, you guys.

Very punk style. Yoko influenced a lot of artists who came after her, the main one who comes to mind is the B-52's. We'll have to send you some songs from them so you can hear the influence. The success of the song and the resulting attention given to Chaka Khan led the group to change its name to "Rufus featuring Chaka Khan" and fans to more commonly refer to the line up as Chaka Khan and Rufus, as seen in the title to that clip. Morgane is the lady on stage with Chris. She is his wife and backup singer. In this video she is pregnant with their twins. She is now carrying their 6th baby. He is an amazing songwriter, has written MANY #1 songs for many other singers. Thank you for your reaction.

Julian is a great songwriter in his own right. He has a good catalog of music

He's got a ton of songs, guys. He's been releasing songs since 1984, and is still releasing more. Most of them I don't know, but that's ok! We'll learn them together! I'll send you more. Hard to believe. . .John's boy is now 61 years old. Where did all the time go? By the way, the Beatles song you reacted to a long time ago, "Hey Jude" is about Julian. It was "uncle Paul (McCartney)" trying to comfort then little Julian over the divorce of their parents in 1968 when John left them for Yoko.

John's son by his first wife Cynthia. He has a brother, Sean, by John's second wife Yoko. Both are musicians. In fact, all of the Beatles children are musicians. There's also Dhani Harrison, George's son, who also looks and sounds like his dad, and Zak, Ringo's son, who is also a drummer, like his father, who, I believe became the drummer for the legendary band the Who after the original drummer Keith Moon died unexpectedly. Back to Julian-he's a beautiful musician in his own right. John would have been proud of him!

Don't want to be a downer, but the vocal performance and the video do not synch up. This was the studio version played over a live performance video, Chaka is not holding the mic to her mouth when there is sound coming from her. Not your fault, it was the band's official video, just an unfortunate fact. Still, a great song that was a HUGE hit for Ms. Chaka Kahn and Rufus, among many others.
