Jeff Beck is hard to explain. People say he is your favorite guitarists' favorite guitarist. Really no one has a career like him, spanning from 1965 ish to his death a couple of years ago, and he continuously advanced and grew his playing that whole time. Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen were kind of the biggest rock guitar influencers over the years, but Beck is probably just below them and had a much mcuh longer career. I would suggest chronologically: Shapes of Things (Yardbirds, 1965, 1st psychedelic song), Ain't Superstitious (68?, early hard rock song), Cause We've Ended As Lovers (studio from Blow by Bow 1973 maybe? for how beautiful and melodic he was), Good Bye Port Pye Hat (studio for Wired, 1975 ?). But then he did all this great stuff like Nessun Dorman in the last 40 years. Would suggest seeing/hearing anything from Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's dvd or abum for more recent stuff. No one could play as beautifully melodic and like a voice as Jeff, then turn around and play the rudest rock and roll too. He was really one of one, unique and spectacular.

Yes, the older shorter lady you keep seeing with Vinz is his mom. She's in another video when they were still Envy on the live performance you reacted to, "Everywhere". Look again at that video; you'll see a close up of her dancing in the audience. She seems to be a big supporter of her son! And the closing shot, where you see Vinz and his mom looking at the fireworks after the big concert performance of "Am I Wrong" is very touching. It's clear she's very proud of her son, and she has every reason to be. Nico's father is an African musician and artist. I'm going to tell you right now any drumming patters that Nico learned, he learned them from his dad. I believe his name is Kouame Sereba. He was the music teacher for that class that day, and he was in on surprising the kids with the unexpected appearance of Nico and Vinz. You can also see Nico's dad right after the big concert in Stavanger (I keep hearing Vinz screaming "Stavanger!!!" before that concert) you can see Nico's dad giving the boys a thumbs up, laughing both Nico, and then Nico's great friend and musical partner Vinz Dery. It was a bit short, but you got the feel, the vibe of the young kids in Norway who grew up with Nico and Vinz? They really are musical royalty in Norway.

Yes, Peter, if I understand you correctly, there is an expression that, once you leave home, "you can't go home anymore". I've experienced this myself when moving away, and then coming back home to visit, it's not the same home that you remember. In a way, it is gone. I am wondering if that's not the experience Nico and Vinz are singing about here; maybe when they come home is what prompted Vinz to write and sing "I don't know where I belong". Vinz is very good about writing down and singing out his feelings.

Of course, Vickie, this song can be seen on multiple levels. On the surface, it looks like simple geography; Nico and Vinz have moved to the world of LA, a strange and unfamiliar world they do not know, and they struggle with feelings of homesickness. But, to your point Vickie, this could be a deeper inner turmoil where the person is really trying to find out who they really are. Because only when you know who you truly are do you then know "where I belong.". I think both of you guys take on it are both equally valid perspectives on this song. Just to let you guys know. . .when Nico and Vinz changed from Envy to Nico and Vinz, and signed with Warner Music, they moved to Los Angeles, where apparently they lived for some years. Los Angeles California (warm) has to be so different for two young guys who lived all their lives in Norway!

Did you get the repeated reference to "my cold home" guys? They're referring to their home Norway. So interesting how when you move so far away from your home you get such strong feelings you never knew you had about your home. One way to look at this song is Nico and Vinz were singing a song about being homesick.

Vickie you picked up that part where Nico, in the middle of the song, would sing a line with Vinz repeated it, and then they switch places to Vinz singing the first line with Nico repeated. They did this so smoothly you almost didn't notice! Good ear Vickie!

Guys, if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a huge Vinz Dery fan. Nico is amazing, too, but there is this special tone and quality to Vinz's voice, it's just so beautiful. I thank these guys forever for recording this track. It is truly a treasure. And to Hayes-great job making these guys sound so good with that perfect backing!

Can you believe that Vinz Dery was once (maybe still?) insecure about his singing? Remember, these guys started out as rappers. This is why I am dissappointed (but not sad; I'll have another try to find that interview) that we could not get that interview with Valerie Morehouse, the singing coach who took on Nico and Vinz. She gave them the confidence to sing their hearts out. Any doubts that these guys can sing in your mind? This is such a beautiful song, and Peter is right-most of the lines are Vinz Dery's. I think it's one of his most beautiful songs with Nico and Vinz. Nico's voice was also beautiful in tone with a very special warmth to it. I'm thinking the singing on this track is as good as anything they've done in their careers to date. So, to answer Peter's question, yes, technically Hayes provided the musical backing for Nico and Vinz. But Nico and Vinz wrote and performed their lyrics in this song. A real masterpiece in under 4 minutes!

What a unique performance. I never should have thrown out my platform shoes! But the next phase in music after this was punk rock, which started in 1976, and platform shoes and bell bottoms went out in favour of Converse and PF Flyer running shoes and straight legged jeans. Form more early 70's Glam Rock, have you listened to Rocket Man by Elton John?

Remember, these guys girlfriends are back in Norway! Touring life can be extremely difficult on a relationship. Nico and Vinz are just being themselves when they sing about these strains, but uplifted by Nico and Vinz's central message of the song, "Our Love! Everything can wait! You know by now that on all of their television programs the lighting is absolutely incredible. The country of Norway is giving Nico and Vinz the most possible support, and it shows in these programs!

The artist on the keyboard is Magnus. He, along with Nico and Vinz were original members of the band Envy. Nico and Vinz continued to collaborate with Magnus until quite recently. He was always in any band that Nico and Vinz had backing them. Magnus is a multinstrumentalist who plays both keyboards and guitar.

Not every day you see Billy Preston dancing with Mick Jagger and the Stones playing in a Billy Preston song. For all functional purposes, guys, he's a functional member of the Stones doing their version of his song backing Billy on piano and vocals. This performance is music history right here. Billy could play with the Beatles, the Stones, Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Buddy Miles, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and the list goes on and on, and everybody loved working and playing with this guy. He brought a lot of uplift and encouragement to many musicians in the musical world, most famously when the Beatles were going through some rough times in January of 1969 as they struggled in the creative process for their album project "Get Back". Direct quote from John Lennon in the studio when Billy joined the effort, "you've given us a lift, Bill!". Billy was really something special.

Bach in the early 70s she enrolled and sudies at the Royal Northern College of Music in London. She studied piano, flute and the harpiscord. As you can seen particularly early in her career she had a certain look and style.
