I found THE WORKS OF STEPHEN CHARNOCK at a Goodwill. It’s the set published by Banner of Truth Trust. I actually found 3 volumes and had to purchase the remaining 2. I as very surprised to have found these at a Goodwill for just .99 cents.

Is the Latin edition more accurate in general or is it more literal than the French edition?

After reading this edition it's amazing to see how close Calvin and Luther were in their theology.

What Theology book recommendations would you have for a not Reformed Baptist? My friend is a Baptist and I'm a Presbyterian so it's kind of hard for me to find Theology books that would be interesting to him. They can be Reformed Baptists too but keep in mind he doesn't believe in double predestination.

I have found that one Bible would not be enough, even for Literature. I use a Study Bible(I use a few for diff opinions), one with the apocrypha, one translated from the Aramaic, a Hebrew-English Interlinear(no Greek one yet so I use BibleHub), I would pass on most Bible dictionaries as they tend to be dated and often too expensive and large when you consider the space saved using a tablet etc...

I thoroughly recommed the Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self. I've read few books which are, in my view, such essential reading for modern Christians - partly because no other book (except maybe this one you're reviewing!) explains everything so clearly.

Excellent review

A lack of assurance is traditionally very characteristic of Reformed, Presbyterian Christians in Scotland. The Dutch Reformed are also very prone to it - Joel Beeke has spent most of his ministry emphasising assurance for that reason.
