Marcus Aurelius was an Stoic Emperor, my King Baldwin IV was an stoic King even when we died at a very young age. Both men I admire to the skies, it aches me to be a simple man and not reached what they did, but also is stoic to learn a live a life of virtue. That I can do. Hail to the King Baldwin IV, hail to Emperor Marcus Aurelius!! Their legacy will live to eternity.

Edward Norton was actually casted as "Guy de Lusignon (Gi de Lu-sineon) but after reading the script, he got so fascinated by King Baldwin's character. Thus, requested the producer if can play him instead, and even stressed out that he wouldn't mind if he will wear mask and prosthetics all the time. He even requested not to show his name in the credits since some may doubt that he might use a double. But since his portrayal of that coveted role was indeed remarkable and poignant, his name was included in the video version of the film as a fitting tribute to his astounding rendition of King Baldwin the Fourth. And the rest is history.

Protect the pilgrims, especially the Jews and the Muslims, because it is just. This is so wrong, when you know that these two religions have attacked Christians from the start, that the very Crusades were made necessary by the schemes of those practicing these false religions and who massacred, pillaged and ravaged Europe and the Holy Land at that time, persecuting Christians. This is politically correct to talk in such a way, yet historically incorrect and tremendously unfair to those who died under Mahometans and Jews' swords and attacks.

Edward Norton really sold an impactful performance despite his features being masked and having acting constraints. The way he uses his eyes and jerks his head around as he talks makes you forget the mask and see the actor.

An average man would respect his fellow man becoz of the latter's wealth, looks & stature, but a wise man would respect his fellow man's wisdom & principle. What a great wisdom & principle king Baldwin IV possesed.

The best way, then, is to suffer. Because through pain we gain knowledge and wisdom. And just as coarse sandpaper smooths a rock, pain and suffering smoothes out the rough soul and makes it gentle.

When you stand before God, you cannot say "i was told by others to do thus" or "virtue was not convenient at the time". This will not suffice. What a great line, religion basically dwell in this often. To be virtuous, bravery is the courage to say the truth and do what is right even when the worlds seem to be against you

In this movie, we saw how Saladin respected king Baldwin IV (& vice-versa) despite being hostile to one another. Saladin perhaps was aware how reasonable & rational Baldwin was, as well as the wisdom Baldwin had in his mind. We can see how Saladin & the Arabs respected king Baldwin while they have no respect to Guy, who obviously exhibited incompetence & assholeness in this movie.

These statements were coming from someone who was only in his early or mid-20's. It sounded like it came from someone who was already in his 50's. Such a great wisdom king Baldwin had. Perhaps almost as great a wisdom king Solomon had.

"A King may move a man, a father may claim a son. That man can also move himself. And only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played, or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone. Even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power. When you stand before God, you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice." If this speech is spread throughout the world we wont see anymore suicidals

I love the scene when Payson runs up the hill. As silly as it sounds, this scene keeps me inspired to keep pushing in my own sport. I know this is a silly TV show and Payson may be a fictional character, but she is a real role model.
