U can tap the nut w a flat punch at one of the castle dimples. Do that to 3 of them in the loosening direction and then u can use this spanner wrench.

No 👎 i just use a piece 8th inch steel drill to buffer diameter then slide it over buffer and mark where your tabs will cut them out weld to handle and bingo bango no need to spend a grant on a wrench 😅,albeit you need to be slightly capable and careful to not scratch your shit up

If you're not it too big a hurry, amazon has an $11 wrench for this. Ordered it myself after taking my nut off without it.

And that will damage the threads on the buffer tube and castle nut if it's properly staked. The proper way to remove a staked castle nut is to a) PUT THE DAM THING IN A VICE! b) using a drift punch and hammer, in one whack strike the castle nut in the direction to loosen. Once past the staking you can remove the nut by hand. DO NOT do what this kid is showing you.

Also works with a pipe wrench … you can lay the lower on a stool, set on it so the grip is under your leg, if you do not have a vice and your castle nut was torqued a little to tight … I have used the same method for removing the flash hider and replacing it with a linear compensator … but both of those use a 3/4 inch wrench …

UPDATE: It was big end bearing. I could take a screw driver against the top of the piston from the spark plug hole and push it back and forth with my other hand pushing the rod cap. I didn’t want to get the crank turned so I traded it off. Even the spare engine that came with it had big end rod knock ironically on the same piston as the engine still in the bike.

Gawd dayummm that doesn't sound good 🤣 glad I stuck to gsxrs 🤣 had a gsxr 750 put 30k miles on it and only problem was stator and rectifier went on it but easy fix now had my L2 1000 put 15k miles on and not a single problem 💪🏻 186hp at the wheel not bad for a 2012
