Cyborg: a documentary Movie Review - SCARIEST movie of the year?
I was stationed in Okinawa twice and went to the ridge several times and it is astonishing to see the height of the actual cliff. the movie does zero justice to the height of that ridge.
1917 - WW2?
I know... completely goofed that one didn't I... no defence man, just human error.
I'd agree with all the ones I have seen from these making anyone's top 10 (punts all around!). I am still yet to see Hotel Rwanda as it seems that it doesn't stream anywhere and it's not so readily available on DVD. A few more for your edutainment: Land Of Mine (WWII where Danish soldiers make young German PoWs clear the beach of mines) 71 Into The Fire (students left to defend city from North Korean army) The Imitation Game (assume this was your number 11!) For Sama (tough no filter documentary on the Syrian civil war)
These all sound brilliant Gavin! I'll be getting on those. As for Hotel Rwanda, Blue Ray, Amazon. That's the only suggestions I've got.
Average straight couple making assumptions on behalf of a community they obviously hate You’re not gunna get anywhere and anymore views by deleting comments. Do better. Get educated
I get what you’re saying, but it’s very normal for a Queer person to have stuff like that in their bedroom. Also it sets a base line of what his ideologies are to further flesh out the character. I think people have become to hyper aware and critical of queerness or messaging like this that they look for an “agenda”. To the point where we can’t have a show that is obviously made for Queer people be Queer without this idea that it’s “shoving an agenda down your throat”.
I'm assuming you've done some research and actually read the original comic books. That's the point of representation they just exist. (Marvel reader since the 1990s, queer since birth 😂)
They’re closeted homophobes lmao they think that gay representation Is “normalising” gayness as if gay people don’t exist already. The use of this word also completely shows that they don’t think being gay is “Normal” or should be acknowledged.
No offence, but I think you guys missed the point. The trans lives matter flag was supposed to give us insight into William Kaplan, showing that he was part of the LGBT community before Billy took over, plus, Joe Locke is close friends with Trans Actress Yasmin Finney. It seems like you guys are just nitpicking for the sake of it. These shows can't do wrong for right, can they, there's always some outraged social justice warrior who isn't happy unless they have a reason to complain.
We weren't outraged, it was a discussion point. To be honest I think you comment proves the points we were making. 'Joe Locke is friends with trans actress Yasmin Finney'. That's great, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the show. You have to understand that I wanted to LOVE this show. The content, the characters, Agatha herself had SO much potential, It was Billy Maximoff All Along, not Agatha. They gave us 30 minutes of Agatha's backstory in the final episode - that should have been what the entire series was about. I'm complaining because I'm genuinely gutted, not because I didn't want to like it. And you certainly wouldn't hear me complain about all the other shows, such as Wandavision, which was an absolute masterpiece.
@@lozzieklairby that logic you must’ve hated wandavision too right? We only saw 30 mins of Wanda’s backstory during the finals episodes of Wandavision. The rest of the show was following alongside her during her journey of healing and overcoming her crippling grief. Similarly Agatha All Along followed Agatha thru a journey with small tid bits of backstory. I don’t see how you could be so critical of her backstory when there’s not much else they really could’ve shown. They showed the key points of her backstory just like they did for Wanda. It was still their shows becuase we followed them through the events of the show. Billy probably got just as much screen time in this show as Agatha got in Wandavision. Investing screen time into a character that we will continue to follow into their own stories isn’t a bad thing. Being fixated on Gayness when no one else is, is a bad thing. Being queer is normal and the show did a great job showing the lives of Gay characters. Don’t you think it would be weird to include gay characters and completely remove every action and behaviour that makes them gay? Gay people aren’t suppressing themselves for homophobes comfort especially in their personal lives. They act gay and do gay things and support trans rights especially if it’s in private and in their personal lives and guess what? We follow the personal lives of mutliple gay characters so big whoopty doo who would’ve thought we’d be seeing them do gay things?
@@lozzieklairsidesnote** I think you should reflect more on the Nuances that come with Adapting stories. No matter the story being adapted it will always be influenced by the medium by which it’s displayed. Actors become they’re characters and the characters become they’re actors. That’s just how it’s always worked. We obviously know that they’re two separate beings but realistically, parts of the actors Behaviours/image/persona then becomes part of the characters. Wiccans MCU adaption is a different character to he’s Comics counterpart, a cinematic portrayal is formulated by the actor, writing and source material. But a large portion of what makes that character what it is, is the Actor. They’re deciding factor in how we perceive that character. This goes for all characters adapted to the screen. They will always be influenced and partially if not mostly created by the actor in conjunction with the writing. So to say the Joe lockes personal contributions and ideals don’t influence the character and don’t have anything to do with the character or show is incorrect. You’re just looking for a reason to hate queerness. Even when it’s apart of the characters lives, you act like it isn’t so that you can say it has nothing to do with the show and is being rubbed on your face?
@@kobycorunna5397 I'm bisexual myself so yeah, you're way off. I appreciate and respect your other opinions but unnecessary accusations are out of line.
@@lozzieklair just because you’re bisexual doesn’t mean you’re incapable of projecting internalised homophobia onto others. A lot of hate comes from within the community and we need to keep each other in check and be willing to look inwards and reflect.
If they explain everything to us in the begining, called It Billy all Along, called it a Wanda movie, not Dr. Strange it would not be as impactful. I like shows that keep me guessing, wondering what everything means and have my theorys blown away. It was a great show, i like trying to guess who the real star is. If everything is straight forward, if everything goes as it is in the comics, it wouldn't be exciting.
That's a valid opinion! And I get it for sure. But for me, I was so looking forward to seeing Agatha's backstory build into something more. I like Billy's story, but that's not what I wanted from this, personally. I feel like Billy's story could easily have been series 2.
Damn, why can’t I agree with you guys? I really tried, but yeah you’re definitely on your own on this review
There are plenty of others with the same view, especially industry professionals so we're definitely not on our own, though I appreciate we're not in the majority haha. I just really wanted more substance and I'm genuinely gutted we didn't get more from Agatha's backstory, there's so much to tell. I think the majority have just been pretty easily pleased if I'm honest. Appreciate you trying and not coming after us just because our opinions differ though! :)
I can smell the sweat through the screen.
you should get that checked out by a doctor mate
Rio cut into the fabric to show she knew the road was fake. I think you two need to watch the show again. Rio said she can't claim Billy because he will just reincarnate again.
so if she can't claim him, why does she even bother to tell him at the end "you can go"? The plot falls apart after a minor scrutiny.
@@TheSilverScreenDudes He doesn't know she can't claim him. He's a kid and just being respectful and listening to her.
@@Proudmary7 no no, if she can't claim him, she has no need to tell him (dramatically) you can leave. There's no need for that line. And that highlights the wider problem with the series: too many loose ends...
We definitely don't need to watch it again, there are too many plotholes in this entire show that let it down - it had the potential to be SO good. Like Nico said below, why did Rio have to make such an issue of 'letting Billy go'? Death is neutral, death doesn't fight. The whole depiction of Death in this how is a farce.
I personally liked the series. It was well done, not perfect. And anyone complaining is really just trying to get attention😂😂 because you’re just hating to hate. Nobody cares about your opinions especially when you have ZERO experience in the industry😂😂😂 either enjoy the entertainment or don’t. Nobody cares about “your problems” with the show. Shut up seriously. You two suck😂😂😂
Ur on ur own with this opinion no valid criticism just plain misogyny
wow... you've clearly watched the review then! Want to point out what was said that was misogynistic? Go on, we'll wait...
What mysogyny?? I'm literally a woman in the video with this opinion 🤣. And we're definitley not on our own, outside of the easily pleased fans, professionals in the industry and many critics very much share this opinion.
The lost member of credibility suicide squad has spoken
Yeah. Even regular people get screwed by the medical and benefits systems. We are strugglin
disgraceful.... Medical systems are meant to be there to help people not, not bankrupt them..
When the coven was explaining sigils to Teen/Billy they said that even the witch who cast the sigil was affected by it, so I just assumed that the reason Lilia didn't say anything was because the sigil stopped her from remembering anything about meeting him. It confirms this when his jacket is left behind and someone asks her whose it is and she says I don't know. Not a plot hole.
I can't wait to see this !! Such a hero of mine for all my life !
It's absolutely incredible!!! Can't wait to hear what you think once you've seen it

You are most welcome, I thought you were incredible in this movie!!! It really is my movie of the year!
Mel Gibson is a bad ass when everyone in Hollywood hates you. You are on the right path
I mean you're entitled to your views and happy you can enjoy something :) but maybe consider that you're wrong. The show, overall, is objectively poor in so many respects and it absolutely pales in comparison to the genius that is Tolkien and doesnt resemble him in the slightest. You do you though.
explain how a subjective medium like art can be objectively bad?
@TheSilverScreenDudes it's subjective in enjoyment. The quality of aspects however is not. The writing and repurposing of lines is objectively bad. The interpretation of Tolkien is objectively bad. The geographical nature of the characters movements is all objectively bad. The pacing is objectively bad. Most of the acting is bad. The majority of plot points are non sensical. The effects, for the most part, are great. Those things are not subjective. That's like taking two people illustrating. One is a pro, and one can't actually draw and stating it's subjective if he can or not. There's nothing wrong with people enjoying it. But when you take on Tolkien, you have to know your stuff. Firing Tom Shippey early on was quite telling.
@@MrSRA13 I'm sorry you're not enjoying it more
@@TheSilverScreenDudes not to worry! We all have our preferences and tastes :) I'll stick with the original trilogy and the books 📚
@@MrSRA13 my friend, I'll be right there with you. All far superior than this series

Was a bit slow at the start but got better at the end you definitely gotta be a fan to enjoy it I liked the Megatron and optimus prime transitions

So then.. why watch it? Like.. why watch something you hate just to get triggered? I never even attempted to watch The Acolyte because I had no interest. But this is just two people crying just to cry lol.
well, it's a numbers game with shows like this... Over the course of the next week you'll see a load of reviews on this channel from the London Film festival come out, featuring TRULY GREAT movies. The problem is that the masses tend to not give enough attention to coverage of the indy movies, so in order to keep the channel healthy analytically, we (unfortunately) have to watch stuff like Agatha, coz unfortunately that's what people watch and want to discuss. It's about being part of the conversation. Just like we're conversing now ;)
You understand how reviewing works, right?! 🤣
I don't mind people liking the show but it's a very... Thin layer of people. For one I had too search " good reviews" otherwise you can't find anything. Second.. This is a sponsored video.. So the low view count is baffling.. Plus no.. And I mean NO good show lossless half it's audience by the second..khmm.. More epic season. My question how is the show making any profit for Amazon? I know they have more money than the good lord but still... 400 million per season plus makerting costs.. It's simply not worth it.. Making the whole show a vanity project by Mr Bond Villain.
Not seen yet but if this is anywhere near as good as the 1989 movie which my and my eldest daughter still watch on a bi monthly basis I will be moved to tears!
ok, it's not in the same league as the 89 movie, that's untouchable.. But it sounds like you're a long term fan, so you'll definitely enjoy this!
Thank you Nico! I loved the review I gave it an solid 8 it was missing the song "you got the touch" or I would have given it an 9!
I know right bro? But did you catch the reference to that song? "You haven't got the touch... or the power..." right at the beginning?
Its a generic d&d fantasy fan fiction. If you like it thats fine, but it is not JRR Tolkien's Middle Earth. Its nothing to do with his world as all they have set out is utterly wrong. One point is the 19 rings. They were all originally made for the elves. Not 3 for elves, 7 for dwarves and 9 for men the way Amazon did it. This only happened after. The whole Numenor storyline is pure trash. The actual story of the second age set out in the Silmarilion is so much more epic.
I mean... the opening of the Lord of the Rings (both books and Jackson's movies) talk about the 19 rings for elves, dwarves and men. You are going deep into lore here which no visual medium has ever done. That's not an amazon problem. I think you're being a bit too finicky about the lore here
@TheSilverScreenDudes finicky really? Just because the movies said they were given to the dwarves and men doesn't change the fact they were originally for the elves.
@@JoseH-fz4ef sure, and what does that add to the plot? Not much... it';s a detail that the movies, series and even books themselves don't pay attention to. It's not relevant
@TheSilverScreenDudes nor is your point. People love the IP and are passionate about it. People wanted it a certain way and they were largely disappointed. If that were the case the audience would be more accepting of it and this wouldn't have been an issue but Amazon didn't hence why the clash exists. RoP is a nice fan fiction but it's not Tolkien. Peter Jackson followed the book and lore, RoP did not and decided to pander to a narrative and that's fine but don't attack the die hards and the fans that liked the original and how it was written. However Amazon decided to change things to fit a modern audience and not everyone is going to accept it. They're trying to do the same with warhammer 40k. When they decided to put the blame on the fans they decided to attack the core audience. The people that actually pay the money. If the fans disliked it then they should have gone off of that instead of doubling down and attacking the fans, much like you're just doing. As children we used our imaginations to play games and have fantasy and escape reality. As adults that has changed to video games, movies and other forms of media to escape the crapshow of life. Those companies that are taking the reposnsibility to make the entertainment should listen to the fans because that is the audience that at the end of the day are going to care about the IP.
@@JoseH-fz4ef where did I attack the die hard fans? That would be a bit strange considering I am one of them lol. There is absolutely nothing in what you've just said I disagree with. In fact (if people actually listened to the video instead f rage typing - that was in not directed at you, more to others), they would have heard week after week I was highlighting the many faults off the show, but still saying I could find enjoyment in the show despite it's many faults. The only thing you've said I thought was irrelevant was the rings originally belonging to the elves. If you're now talking about fan enjoyment, obviously you're not going to find my arguing that.
The show was ass who u guys kidding 😂😂 straight hot garbage!! 💩

Have to say i don't agree with you with regards to rop, but that's okay, at least you stand your ground even with the overwhelming backlash to your take on things, it makes life interesting when people have conflicting views, once there's a modicum of respect of course.
Well said! I think as long as respect is shared, and as long as outlets aren't being purposefully antagonistic, there would be far more room for interesting debate, instead of name calling. I really appreciate this comment!

Nah bro, I'm not one of those who would ever lie about media I consume, that's lame. Being 100% honest, after my first read through of Lord of the Rings when I was 12, I did attempt to read the Silmarillion but I think I was too young... didn't manage to get through, so no, haven't read it. And likewise for unfinished tales. But here's the thing (and I believe this for all media): My enjoyment of a show/movie, shouldn't be determined by what other media I've previously consumed. That can definitely enhance, for sure, but it shouldn't set what I'm watching within strict limitations. It's just a show.
Congratulations, you are easily entertained. I am curious, whats a show you did not like and why did you not like it?

Nerdrotioc has over a million subs you silly little cultist 🤣🤣🤣 I'm a freakin' nobody who's only been running a channel for a year. I'm flattered you're pulling our stats up for comparison though. I must be doing something right! ;)
LOL, someone having 'loads of views' doesn't make them correct 🤣🤦♀
I don't like the show at all but comments like these are incredibly stupid. Popularity doesn't dictate quality. So many comments here mentioning "room temperature IQ" but there couldn't be a better example of that than this comment right here. IMO both RoP and Nerdrotic are sludge content
Man, I wish I could share your excitement, I really do. I've been looking forward to this adaption for over a decade. I want more than anything for this show to be great, but I just can't get my brain to get over the amateur writing, dialogue, and storytelling. I guess that's an opinion, but to my mind it's honestly some of(if not the worst) writing I've ever seen for a major TV show. Dialogue is forced , pretentious and unnatural(sounds like they're trying to sound like Tolkien, but don't fully know how); story is both way too slow because it's trying to tell 5 stories at once, and yet they are completely rushing through the events(similar to GoT S8) that they should be expanding way more on. Characters are teleporting all over the map which makes the world feel tiny, and they're constantly making unreasonable/unjustifiable decisions to advance the plot that pulls me out of the story and ruins my suspicion of disbelief. The story is also painfully predictable and somehow still full of some of the worst plot holes in cinema history(Galadriel jumping ship to try and swim the Atlantic ocean, Numenoreans afraid of Elfs stealing their jobs when there's only one elf who just wants to leave, Southlanders taking a 1000 degree pyroclastic flow to the face with no explanation), Even this episode the writers completely forget that they stabbed Arondir last episode and left him for dead; he's completely fine now and back to 100% with no explanation. It's like the show is exclusively written by high school kids who've never written before. I wish I could make myself enjoy this show, I really do...I just can't.
If this guy ever read the books, he would realize what a mockery this show is of Tolkien's work. No one likes this show for very good reasons. What a shill. Disgusting.
"this guy" (Nico btw) read the books once a year, every year between the ages of 12-17 and used them as a coping mechanism/scapsim to deal with my parent's divorce. Maybe next time try not bring your own hateful, judgemental baggage to table. 53% of audiences like this show, and 85% of critics like it. Check Rotten tomatoes if you count me. Next time, maybe look online and take a step back before you both say something incorrect and make a judgement on someone. Only thing disgusting here is your reflection in the mirror my friend.
@TheSilverScreenDudes if you're quoting rotten tomatoes for accuracy, you have been poorly misled by some other corporate shills. By and large, Tolkein fans think this show is a simple money grab and not in any way respectful or true to Tolkein's work. This isn't art, it's calculated ROI derived from marketing and DEI politics. It's activism masquerading as 'fanship''. Besides that, the acting, plot, script writing, production does notnlove up to this insane budget. Objectivly its a bad show and will be canceled, no one wants this. Just stop.
@@wmgjonathanThe 'Tolkein Fans' you speak of are nothing bit gatekeepers with narrow minds.
@loxleyproductions gatekeping to what? Tolkein's actual work? I'm happy to support any faithful adaptations. But this show is an absolute abomination.
@@wmgjonathan good job not addressing the degree to which you put your foot in it by assuming I hadn't read the books. Now (coz I clearly have to educate you...) I'm not talking about the critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. I wouldn't open that floodgate with someone so fragile, the "critics are paid" soundbite would come too quickly... I'm talking about the AUDIENCE score. Are you actually suggesting that audience members on RT are paid to write positive reviews which equate to only 53% enjoyment? Take moment, sit down, and just think about what you've said: audience members are paid to write positive reviews on RT, and yet the score still turns out to be 53%. Go have a ciup of tea and think before sounding silly..
Felt parts of it were not bad. The battle scenes were small and poorly done. Maybe im comparing it to the movies too much. Im glad it's finished. I dont know if I'll watch the 3rd series...
Shill alert
Hater alert. Or would you prefer NPC alert?
HAHAHAHA WE WISH! You holding coins from me, Nico?? 🤣🤣🤣
All main characters are mischaracterized! Galadriel is an aunt to Gil-Galad and grand grand aunt to Elrond. Galadriel and Celeborn were very tall and the lady was tall as the lord. In third age Elrond marries Galadriel's daughter. In this show Galadriel is treated like she is Greta Thunberg getting arrested at every protest she attends. Show hints wrongly that Galadriel got her ring by a chance when in fact she got it because she was de facto the most powerful elf in Middle Earth at that time (All Elves knew this). Morgoth's crown is not a thing, it is still about his neck bounding him in the void. Rings were made over period of 100 years, yet we have humans that do not age throughout the show. Gandalf is pictured as a savage that eats snails together with shell while in fact he is the most noble of all the Maiar and was in Middle Earth during uncounted years helping elves. The show is giving way too much time to Sauron. What was the point of Orc babies and Adar? Celebrimbor was an idiot as his grandad Feanor thinking he alone was special and destined for great things, for their hubris the Noldor paid the ultimate price. This may be the only thing that they got right. Elrond can teleport to Moria and Galadriel can climb the ice wall but they cannot jump 20m gap? Elrond takes the ring to heal Galadriel instead of just placing it on her finger. Maybe the ring has on/off button. It's so dumb. We know how rings work. 300M books were sold, hello.
ok
At least you have an informed opinion to criticise it! Although, I think you're clinging to detail too much and not alowing for artistic license. Bear in mind, not everyone watching it will know the books so well, I certainy don't. Maybe that is what is stopping some people's enjoyment of it?
not only was this lame it was a bastardization of JRR Tolkien's works. 1 Bil for this crap??? wow I guess some of this money went to pay critics off.
you really are hysterical (or 12 years old?) if you think critics (or aspiring critics like myself) are paid for positivity. That's not how it works... Get a clue
How to say you have room temperature IQ without saying it
How to say you gatekeep and are precious over art without saying it.
@@loxleyproductions Thank you man. Yeah I do what I can.
😂😂😂😂😂
Is this guy rage baiting?
I hope he's getting paid for this (he's a shill) because otherwise he likes the worst show and adaptation ever
@@profestia I like the worst show and adaptation ever. 😁Wish I was being paid for this... would be nice! I'll keep trying and one day maybe 😁
@@TheSilverScreenDudes Nothing worng with liking it, i think its mediocre.Slow, sub par dialogue, really like some of the actors though, kinda like sauron would like him more if they stopped tryna ship him with galadriel.
It’s a show made for people who regularly enjoy soaps, room temperature IQ viewers wow
I bow to your superior intellect
@@TheSilverScreenDudes it’s fine that you liked it but if you can’t understand why it is trash then you prove my point
Ollie the first has shit for brains. The people slating it are drinking the cool add from the stupid pre written scathing UA-cam nerds obsessed with slating anything that isn’t “perfect”. This show had me emotionally invested and I couldn’t take my eyes off it by the end. Who cares about silly nit picks. The critics actually love it check out they rotten tomatoes score and IMDb. Get a life and learn to think for yourself.
@@OllieTheFirst oh no, I completely understand why someone wouldn't like it or think it's trash, you've missed the point here. I said every week as I was reviewing each episode, that there are many faults in this show! MANY! I'm preaching that I can enjoy despite its faults. You are attacking those who find enjoyment claiming they lack intelligence. I bow to your clearly superior intellect
@@TheSilverScreenDudes I’m not calling you dumb mate I’m saying that the people who see no faults in it and love it clearly aren’t very smart because it’s riddled with them
