Running 35 Inch Tires On Stock Jeep Wrangler TJ Suspension (YES ITS POSSIBLE)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 місяці тому
Check it out! I'm running 35s on a stock suspension jeep tj with only a few mods and some trimming. The results speak for themselves. I think this is officially a do-able set up. I still plan on upgrading almost everything on this jeep to run 40s and bigger axles, but this setup has given me a decent stepping stone to stand on while I wait.

Wish Rhino USA used American made products...
@jefferybrydson9616 or just changed their name. Rhino ropes or rhino recovery both sound cool lol as far as quality I've absolutely abused the kinetic rope and soft shackle I have and haven't gotten them to break yet. I plan on doing a long term review in the near future
😎
I can’t believe anyone would ever do that to a Ford. Unless you’re a Ford. Haha looks like a great day.
I'm surprised those tires still had any air in them!
Jeeps are cool and so are you
That little bronco is a fighter lol 👍👌
@@NicholasJ-p1i it really does good for what it is. He has a lot of plans for it to make it even better
@emptypocketsoffroad hell ya can't wait you guys should do an update video that would be pretty cool 👌
My hometown when it was a town. My wife and I spent two summers on Bertha Hill lookout.
😂 no need for a $15 very expensive non-spill funnel that comes with connections for almost every vehicle 🤦🏽♂️
Great job on the video! The "locals" always tell people that the road is too rough for anything but a 4 wheeler or SxS... partly because they don't want to have to help rescue people who get in over their heads... also to keep the amount of traffic down... and because much of the property is privately owned. Also because the locals see it as "their place". Many of the mining claims were patented including Hump Lake and north and south of it, Concord Airstrip and a lot of the other mine properties. In fact the road NF-202 aka Buffalo Hump Rd/Crooked River Rd runs through private property for a ways... you can see this yourself with a Idaho Geological Survey map or OnX premium. The road stops at/above Jumbo mine and the pack trail begins there... that's why there's an outhouse. Anyways Idaho law says unless you correctly post No Trespassing signs people can access it... I think the Forest Service is trying to buy out all the private landholders out there... might have happened already but the maps haven't changed yet. The locals rely on scaring some people into not going out there and that seems to work most of the time. It hasn't stopped me. Many years ago I even had people stop me on the road out from Orogrande and tell me I wouldn't make it to Wild Horse Lake... lol ya right... I did and have many times in the 20+ years since. I drove an 84 Dodge Caravan out once to prove a point and got a lot of looks like "are you crazy" lol yep. You just have to know how to drive offroad. Years ago I knew a couple of old miners that worked out there near Hump Lake around WW2 and they said during some parts of the year/Spring/Early Summer the road was so rough that they put their rig in first gear and walked along outside steering through the window... too rough to ride inside. Spring runoff can tear the road up. I was surprised that neither of you appeared prepared for meeting up with a Grizzly... They have been tracked to as far west as Fish Cr Campground south of Grangeville.... and Buffalo Hump is a lot closer to Yellowstone/Montana/Wyoming where they're migrating west from... Sleeping in a tent? Nope! Maybe with a large group of people but likely still no. It's a long trip to Grangeville to get stitched up and I'm not young lol. I haven't seen one out there yet but I have seen wolves many times. They have never been a problem for me but they aren't at all afraid of people either. All the Black Bears I've encountered are afraid of their own shadow so usually not a problem unless you're between them and cubs or food. Have you driven Magruder Trail to Montana/Darby? It's not that difficult but some of the side roads out to Lookouts etc are pretty technical. You can also get to the upper Selway River that way and you can camp there (or used to). I personally prefer the sound of rocks/engines to music on these type of videos but I'm old so what do I know anyway lol. Lastly: Orogrande is not really a "Ghost Town" because people still live there.... same with Dixie, Florence etc. And that road out to Jumbo Mine/Hump Lake is not "the top" of Buffalo Hump... that's a little west.
@juststeve7665 i think magruder is on our list for next year's trip. Mostly wanting to do the road to burnt knob lo. Everyone we ran were nice luckily. As far as tent sleeping goes I had little choice in the matter with such a small rig. I am considering a newer suburban for camping or an offroad trailer. I do carry a spot device for emergencies and we both carry pistols (probably too small for a grizzly though). I had a terrible dream of being drug out of my tent by a wolf that night... so it was certainly on my mind lol Thanks for the comment!
@juststeve7665 oh and the sxs guys that warned us were from a orofino group. They just have small tires and I'm sure it was a hard trail for their machines lol
I think it would be better without the music. It doesn't add anything. It's not a dig on how you make videos but I'm here for the video, I'm already entertained, I don't need the generic youtube soundtrack to keep me interested.
Tires on rocks and the engine working is the proper music score
I miss My 89 Burb. Remind me of My time in The Eastern Sierra Nevada Mtn.
A blend is nice, but be cautious the music volume does not kick into overdrive.
I think you should sing and maybe play the harmonica a little
I think I like the music while riding in the jeep but the sounds of the rigs and rock from the outside views.
😢 See ya next summer
The struggle is so real
Yeah and how do you get the fluid left over after burping without spilling????
@@robertm7717 you just drink it out with a straw

You got your shovel, 5 gallons water for the fire and an extinguisher handy I hope, other than that looks like the perfect evening god bless stay safe
@jakoiam always! And a very low fire danger that high and late in the season. They don't even fight the wild fires out there. They just monitor them and protect structures
On the grid camping or off???😂😂😂😂😂
@WahasLewey off road camping for sure. No cell service, no amenities, no pavement, and a decent trail to the top of the mountain
Looks like a good time
The great thing about Jeeps is that everyone can build theirs exactly the way they like. To be honest, I would have done just about everything almost 180 degrees from what you did. But I'm really glad you like it.
@BentRebar there are definitely things I'd rather of done. I'm walking the line of budget, my own skill level, and what makes sense for the end goal. That goal being a very capable offroad rig. What is 180 from this? more stock?
@@emptypocketsoffroad My own TJ is on 3" susp lift with 33x10.5s. I have Detroit lockers fore and aft, and full aluminum skids underneath with a tummy tuck. I kept the fenders and lighting stock, and installed a Warn M8000. I have some KC Apollo lights on the front bumper and A pillars. So my concept was to keep it looking stock, with the exception of a moderate lift and reasonable tires. And I wanted all of the accessories to be relatively time period compatible. I didn't want to put LED headlights and light bars on it, because I like to think if you took a picture of it, nobody would be able to tell if the picture is a month old or 20 years old. But like I said, we all have our own tastes and goals.
@BentRebar sounds very nice! Clean tjs are getting rare. This one will get beat over the years lol it's main purpose will be offroading eventually. For now it has to serve as a daily as well

Sick jeep!
what are the perceivable benefits so far?!
@TheLotroNerd unfortunately the jeep burned in a wild fire last year. As far as benefits It is supposed to stiffen the front which I did not feel a noticeable difference. The benefit I liked most was the added security of holding the steering box tighter to the unibody. You no longer have to rely solely on the 3 bolts holding the box. I felt it was a good part to have considering the cheap cost. I hope that helps
@@emptypocketsoffroad ohh wow! yea it would be nice if they had a plated version for jeep tjs. sorry for your loss on a good jeep!
That cleaning setup looks like it works great. Never seen that jeep so shiny. Haha
I’ve seen people run 38 inch tires on high pinion Dana 30 with locker Dana 35 you don’t want bigger than 33’s
@WrecklessChevy we will see how long this d35 holds up. Any breakage will be posted for sure. If it's still in there when I'm ready to swap in my other axles we are gonna weld it up and torture test it lol
Im running 35s no lift on my xj @niks_fabrication
I’m on 35’s, high lines, tummy tuck, 2” puck lift in this vid, Rubi TJ 44’s, WJ OTK swap, 4:10’s. Just changed springs to OME 2-1/2 since this video. Love love love my set up. Will probably go to 37’s for trip to Rubicon. ua-cam.com/video/wSLSCUN8p9E/v-deo.htmlsi=s9f5_okRQ-l5ZEOs
@@MrRickstar321 looks like it does great and looks perfect! Nicely done!
Do you have a rear sway bar?
@matthewbertges5799 yes the factory rear sway bar is still connected.
I know I say several times that "I'm not saying its a good setup". Just to clarify I mean it may not be a good setup for everyone! I think this setup actually works really well and is in reality a pretty dang good setup!
Will this destroy the cvc axles ????
I really like it. Looks great!!

@distantgalaxymusic1447 it's a super fun easy trail. There's a newer video of that trail and a few more from two different trips. The compressor trail is a bit more difficult that denver
@@emptypocketsoffroad I like day adventuring on trails rather than beating.

Would a heat gun have prevented the flair destruction or was it just cheese?
The plastic was brittle and the bolts holding it in were rusted. I might have been able to drill the bolt heads off, but was too lazy lol
