Rodney here, from the 405 OKC. Just a blue collar worker that enjoys turning wrenches on my hotrod, lifting weights and most of all, getting to spend time with my family living life making memories.
I have a 1972 Chevelle. It was my 1st car since I was barely 15. So I got her back in 1998 or early 99. Me & the Chevelle have been through a lot. I have now 2 sons and 1 girl. When the time is right, i am going to pass the Chevelle over to the girl some day and find a couple more hotrods for my 2 boys ( hopefully Chevelles 😁 ). They are still very very young, but I can't wait to show them how awesome & unique these old cars are. I hope to post more videos in the near future. Plans are to upgrade to an EFI system and a good strong positrac with better gear ratios. Then after that will be upgrading the suspension. Hope you all enjoy & never give up on your hotrod or the search for one. I know, they are a lot harder to come by these days. ✌

Oklahoma rain flooding my air duct vents

With all this non stop oklahoma rain, the water eventually got into our air duct vents in the ground. So im using a wet vac to get it out. then a small sump pump to get it out of the wet vac. The sump will not fit in the vent and i don't want to risk spilling the wet vac by carrying the 16 gallons of water out. This is day 2 of pumping the water out. It was so bad yesterday that we could not us...

Just installed a summit fuel regulator, prior to the installation my fuel pressure was going all the way to 9 PSI. the regulator fixed my fuel pressure issue and it is right at 6.5 PSI as advertised by Summit Racing.

Nice sounding Chevelle. I'am from Germany and i've got a imported Chevy Nova 74. Here we need a licence for those mufflers. If the Police catches you without license they take the car and you will pay a lot of money for this abuse...😢
Sounds awesome thank you for the video. I gotta give me a pair now!!!
Same thing at my house. I’m gonna buy a sump pump and pump it straight out a window to bypass the shop vac.
That thing sounds perfect. Well done. You picked the right combinations! You mentioned going EFI. Have you done that since? If so, what system did you choose. What are you hoping to achieve with EFI? How is the vacuum for brake booster currently? If you ramp up to another cam, what you looking at? Thx. Im looking at exactly what you did on a 78 L82. So doing my research before diving in!
I accidentally spilled a cup of water down my vent and now I’m freaking out. Dead ass scared to tell my parents cause they take shit like that serious idk what to do 😥
Why on earth would they design houses this way……?????
Lol 👍🏼
Nice 👍
I have a similar spacer I've thought of doing this to , I don't see that you posted any update on how it works
She revved the shit out of it ..
😂 I know right. It’s all good, she likes to be revved lol
Watched your vid and then went out to the shed and made my own "super sucker" as you did. Used carbide burrs and emery rolls. Works great!!
That’s awesome. I need to make another one. I gave mine to my nephew and placed a one inch open phenolic spacer for the time being.
@72MrHotrod I used a 1" spacer as hood clearance is abit tight. 650avs on a 265ci 6cyl chrysler
Nothing wrong with using teflon tape, just start at the 2nd thread on up, you dont want any part of that tape getting inside the regulator, the lines, and then affecting the needle and seat inside the carburetor.... teflon paste would be better suited. Also, from what i see, your in a dead head style setup, that will create more heat in the fuel and with using todays ethenal based fuel, it has a greater chance of creating fuel percolation/vapor lock, to combat that, install a return line from the regulator, but you need a return style type and from there, back to the gas tank to recirculate the fuel that doesnt get used and in turn, keeping it much cooler.
Yeah it’s dead headed right now. I definitely want to use a regulator with return eventually.
I had a similar 71 Chevelle with pumped 360, turbo 400 and 456 posi rear that ran 12.90 at 106mph in quarter🤠
I bet that was fun with those 4.56 gears. I want some 3.73 eventually
@@72MrHotrod 3.73 are great all around gears!
Need to fix backup lights
Thanks. Yeah I had I little wiring issue and got my reverse lights working now 👍
What ratio rockers are you running? I may try 1.6s
My bad I just seen your comment. Sometimes I don’t get notified on my comments. Anyway, I’m using 1.5 Harland Sharp roller rockers. Heck if I could go back 20 years ago when I bought them, I’d probably get the 1.6 by Harland Sharp, to get that little extra lift. They are very well built rockers.
Oh and here is a rocker arm ratio calculator. www.wallaceracing.com/rockercalc.php
Really nice camo hood too
Hell Yeah! Music to my ears man, sounds wicked as hell!!
It sounds so good!!! Why the 250s instead of the venom race or widow makers? I’m trying to decide witch to go with Thanks!
It was honestly a toss up between the race venom and these venom 250’s. From the many videos I watched before purchasing these, I like the way both of these sound when revving up/ stomping on the gas. All their mufflers sound good at idle though for sure. I bet if I would’ve gone with the race venom, I’d be just as happy with the sound
Hey sounds and looks great, lots of guys saying comp XE cams have loud valvetrain clatter, did you notice this or maybe these guys have worn lifter bores, or worn valve guides?, thanks for posting
Thanks and Sorry for the late reply. I’ve never had any loud valvetrain noise with mine. Maybe it’s hit and miss with some guys 🤷♂️ I always use good quality oil too and always stay on top of my oil changes. I use to use Lucas oil but now use Driven Racing Oils
@@72MrHotrod Thanks for the reply
If the air vents filled up with water it can make you very sick
How do you know this? What kind of sick?
Did she have the xe274 in this video. Dont sound like it....
Yes it’s the same cam. I later found out after driving it, it had a miss and found a burnt spark plug wire. I can tell now in this video that it doesn’t sound right. I think I was messing with the timing before I made this video too and advanced it a few degrees too much.
@@72MrHotrod i love your car. Im building a 70 with a 383, xe274h, dart iron eagle 200s. I shit you not i drive in my truck with your "she dont like the cold" video, on my bluetooth. Volume at 50....
That’s awesome!! I wish I made this one a 383. This 350 is bored .060 over, so it’s on its last build. Post a video when you get yours up and running. I’m subscribed to your page
awesome , got gears in it yet? what compression ratio? you were planning on sniper efi or the like? cool car great job, sounds immaculate, what rpm is it idling at? Someone said the DEH275 idles at 650 rpm, its a milder ramp rate cam than this XE274 though. it compares better to an XR282HR10 hydraulic roller cam. i was going to use an XR288HR although maybe i need to stay smaller with a daily driver you know? This cam may be the best choice. its for a 373 sbc 2nd gen camaro daily.
I haven’t done really anything else to it yet. No gears or efi. Unfortunately just been real busy with work life and stuff. Had no time to tinker on her 😔 I need to make time though for sure. Thanks for the compliment. I usually have it idling not in gear at around 800 to 900 if I remember correctly. My next cam will be roller and most likely the XR288HR. I think that cam would be great for your engine. It just has slightly more duration. Still very streetable.
@@72MrHotrod My mechanic told me that carburetors give you more performance that EFI. So, I bought a Quick Fuel HR-750 CFM mechanical with electric choke. I see many classic muscle cars having a Quick Fuel carburetor rather than an EFI.
Me too. My mechanic told me the same thing. For better performance a carburetor, especially the Quick Fuel 750-HR double pumper with electric choke, is much better than EFI
I like that the beetle is trying to run away from those venoms😆
What size stall u running
Pretty sure I bought this stall from jegs rated at 2,300 to 2,700. It’s rated to handle 500 hp. www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/60400/10002/-1
What cam u running
Comp cam flat tappet XE274 It’s duration @.050 is 230 intake 236 exhaust with .490 lift and a 110 lsa
Sounds sick but I need the paint code to match that beetle crawling towards the camera
Sounds great. I spotted your ATT shirt. I worked with them from 2016 to 2021 on the DTV side.
Thanks. Ha yeah I started in 2013 on the DTV side as well. Then started doing internet the past couple years. But I just quit back in the beginning of December. In the oil field now
What rpm does it idle at
In this video I didn’t even have a tachometer hooked up yet 😆 but now I run the idle rpm at about 850 to 900
good job man!
Sounds great!!!
How is this cam with power brakes
My power brakes do just fine. 👍 no issues at all. I did place a jegs vacuum reserve canister the same time I put this cam in though just in case I needed it. www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/63011/10002/-1
What's the cam specs?
230 236 @ 050 with .490 lift. 110 LSA
@@72MrHotrod thanks 😊 it sounds like a custom grand cam too :)
@@72MrHotrod oh is this a hydraulic roller or flat tapped?
It's a flat tappet, wishing I wouldve done hyd roller. I will most likely next time go roller and with a little more lift as well
I'm trying to decide between this cam or the comps mutha thumpr cam for my sbc 357 with a little over 9.5:1 compression, what are your thoughts?
Will be running 2700-3000 stall and 3.73 gears and want a nice lope but have heard some of these cams in other cars and they sound like they're barely hanging on in idle. I want a consistent lope that doesn't sound like a dying low comp motor like some others, this car sounds pretty good imo.
The mutha thumpr will probably have slightly more thump with the tighter lobe separation. I've always wanted to try one of the thumpr cams my self. I think it would be a good combo with your compression and rear gear and stall set up. What kind of heads you running, aftermarket?
@@72MrHotrod whoops! Sorry for the late response. I took a different turn and am actually having it bored .060 over and doing a 388 stroker and my heads then I was going to use some Summit/Dart cast iron heads but now got a set of nice modified vortecs. My static compression should be around 11:1 now. I still might use on of the XE cams. I'm going between the Performer RPM cam, XE274, and XE284. Thumpr cams for the street just wouldn't be too great with that LSA and for my needs.
388 stroker with 11:1 and good flowing heads. I think it’ll sound awesome with the xe274 or 284! Next time I build, I’m going for 11:1 with the xe284
What do you have for fuel delivery? I've gotta new 750 quickfuel, like your setup, that just won't run right. Trying to make sure we have 6.5 psi to the carb.
Sorry just seen your comment. I am running a 110 gph mechanical fuel pump. It's either jegs or summit brand, can't remember right off. and I placed a regulator with gauge as well just in case. I got it set at 6.5 if I remember correctly. My quick fuel is the slayer 750. I remember jetting it down on the primary and secondaries about four sizes. Did you get yours running right yet? What is it doing exactly?
I have a 1969 chevelle 396 350hp. I just got the 250 venom series mufflers and am planning to leave the manifolds on. I hope they sound close to yours given the car is mostly stock. ( keeping the car stock as I can since it's numbers matching) .
Nice 👍 sorry I just seen your comment. Did you get your mufflers on yet? If so, you got a video of a sound clip? Wish I had a 396
how do you stop this from happening in the first place?
This is a great car . and a great video with good information thanks just long enough to thumbs up for the win. go chevelle!
Hey brother sound great 👍 what carb are you running ?
Thanks! It's a 750 quick fuel slayer vacuum secondaries
Should i get the 250 or should i get the race venom. I don’t really want something insanly fucking loud
I'm thinking venom 250, i hear that the race Venoms are slightly louder
I had the venom 250s but then I tried the race venoms they are more aggressive and at cruising speed they have louder purr/growl . And definitely louder at hard acceleration.. I have them on a 67 camaro 358 480lift 230duration..
Doesn't this sound disturb the neighbors?
Lol all my neighbors are somewhat far apart on 1 acre lots. But no complaints so far 😆
Sounds dope!
Thank you!
This is Dominic Toretto's family irl
sus
That’s awesome.
Thank you
No problem.
Which black widow mufflers are they?
Venom 250's 2.5 inch
sure, cold start.
Do you like the venoms over the flowmasters? Sweet ride man...
Thanks. Yes I do like my Venoms better, definitely louder since they are straight through mufflers. And no drone while cruising
Awesome sound, 3:73 gears would be my choice.
Thank you!
Clean and mean
Thank you!
