    You do know your ingine fan is blowing in the direction of your cooling fan best pull hot air out just saying don't trap the heat

    Real Redneck install on the fan. I put my inside and It can't be seen. I did add a second Battery to help out The charging system.. plus it adds extra weight To the machine. I love my machine So far... 25 hrs with No issues... I did cut the flat edge Off the front of my Bucket ant welded On a cutting edge And what a difference that made in digging...

    Love the heat shield idea! Ive thought about taking the pull start housing off to expose the motor cooling fins, and running some sort of duct to the side of the excavator where cool air can come in. Seems like it just brings in hot air the way it is. Raising the seat up a couple of inches to let heat escape might be a modification I do in the near future. Also, My hudraulics get way too hot, so i will most likely be installing a oil cooler, and a flexible 200 watt solar panel to mount to the top of the canopy for another fan or to keep the battery charged. My bigest complaint about the machine is how slow the tracks are. Especialy if the drive motors get hot. NOTE: These machines have a 9 amp charging stator, so do not exceed this or you'll start to drain the battery. Is why ill probably install a solar panel.

    I just got my fans in and will be installing 2 with the push pull technique. Each fan will be mounted inside the housing facing out. There is a spare wires that is not being used inside under the throttle and key switch area. It is there for extra lights. One wire is hot all the time and is hooked to the battery disconnect and another that is switched by the light switch. They also have a ground in the bundle. Saves you from having to run wires. There is room inside the engine compartment to mount the fans so you don't have to worry about damaging the fan while you are operating the excavator in heavily cluttered areas.

    • @lukerhoda1277
      @lukerhoda1277 8 місяців тому

      I had no idea about the extra light connection. I'll have to check it out. I know i could have mounted it inside. I still like how i did it. To each their own.

    I have a HT-10BZ on the way. It comes with a hydraulic oil cooler. I also am planning on adding a fan on the left side, and I am going to try for an inside fan. Thanks for the video - it helps to see how other address the problem. I am wondering if that aluminum housing you build around the exhaust will block airflow and make it too hot. What if you cut the left side off and let the fan blow are over and out the back. Right now you have no airflow over the exhaust. Might that cause problems?

    • @lukerhoda1277
      @lukerhoda1277 10 місяців тому

      My theory is the exaust/muffler is a big contributer to heating engine compartment. The aluminum housing is helping to direct the radiant heat from muffler out of the engine compartment and is shielding the fuel tank from the heat. Machine runs good and stays cool.

  • @jtsokiehobbyandadventures6666

    Why not pull the air out. There enough space to pull air around the motor. I would check the swing arm gear and make sure it is tight

    • @derekdal5185
      @derekdal5185 11 місяців тому

      you should pull air into the sides so that it escapes along with the exhaust in the rear to create a pressure flow. pushing out the sides risks pullin ghte exhaust heat back in

  • @scottpeterson9398
    @scottpeterson9398 Рік тому

    Just picked up a mini excavator and i installed a 12" fan blowing the hot air out. I primarily did this because i dont want dirt and dust to get pulled into the engine bay. It works surprisingly well in cooling the excavator. I also used heat shield under the seat to keep my butt cooler while using it.

    • @lukerhoda1277
      @lukerhoda1277 Рік тому

      If you exaust air out it still has to draw in air and dirt from outside.

    • @scottpeterson9398
      @scottpeterson9398 Рік тому

      @lukerhoda1277 true... but a very minimal amount gets pulled in versus the amount that would be blown directly into the engine compartment, and the amount of heat that it has reduced outweighs any negative. It's actually help keep the hydraulic oil stay cooler.

    Nice job Luke. I'm getting ready to buy a couple of fans for my Miva. It has pilot controls which puts all the hyd. lines right in the way for mounting the fans on the side like you did, I just might have to put it on the outside like you did. I'm thinking about a 9-inch fan on the side and out the back mounting a 12-inch fan. I thought about bolting it to the grill, but I don't know how I'll end up attaching it because of the curvature of the grill.
