Angel Heart with Adam Schwitters of Munch My Benson - Main Event
At the age of 9, a friend's dad traumatized his own son and Munch My Benson's own Adam Schwitters by gleefully letting them watch the darkly sexual and extremely messed up 1987 Mickey Rourke/Lisa Bonet/Robert De Niro gothic horror noir set in 1950s New York and New Orleans, Angel Heart. The first time Josh heard this, he was struck dumb at the notion that such a young child had been allowed to see such an ADULT movie, so when Unkind Rewind was born, there was absolutely no way that they weren't going to dive into Adam's FORMATIVE experience with such an age-inappropriate film.
Angel Heart is currently streaming on Hoopla, Kanopy, and PlutoTV.
Adam can be heard weekly alongside Josh on their Law & Order: SVU podcast Munch My Benson (munchmybenson.com/) , which is 220 episodes in and counting: BlueSky (bsky.app/profile/munchmybenson.bsky.social) , Instagram ( munchmybenson) , Facebook ( MunchMyBenson/) , Threads (www.threads.net/@munchmybenson) , and Twitter (x.com/MunchMyBenson) His personal social media accounts are: Twitter ( atschwitters) and BlueSky (bsky.app/profile/atschwitters.bsky.social)

After Sean and Josh prepare you for the coming weeks without the podcast in the penultimate episode of Season 1, they welcome occasional Unkind Rewind co-host and full-time Munch My Benson co-host Adam Schwitters to the podcast. When Adam was a wee lad of 8, he saw a film that he was roughly ten years too young to see. The first time Josh heard this, he guffawed and when this podcast came into ...

Having rewatched the nightmare fuel that is 1985's Return to Oz, we sat back down with our special guest, Max Rieper, the managing editor for Royals Review, who contrary to his peers not only loved this film as a child but felt this film was superior to its predecessor The Wizard of Oz because it was more faithful to the L. Frank Baum books. That it was darker and bleaker didn't bother young Ma...

The 80’s did a great job with the fish out of water formula, and this is one of them. Back to the Future is probably the best example of this, but this one definitely had its charm, and Cryer’s always great:)

Definitely have a soft spot in my heart for this one, despite its warts. Cryer's fun as hell.

Love this film. It would totally be a lifetime film today, but this back in 84’, when intriguing real life family dramas were played on the big screen. Terri Garr, Peter Weller, Christopher Collete, and Corey Haim all did really well. Also love seeing Robert Downey Jr, and Sarah Jessica Parker as well. I kind of wish Peter Weller were more well known for this role, as opposed to RoboCop. He played this menacing intense, coked out step father figure, really well:)

We definitely came down on the same side of the coin re: Weller. Great in this film. RoboCop kinda led his career astray, sadly.

I vaguely remember this movie. It was a strange experience because it's so dramatically different from the 39 film. I need to read the books now after Max's descriptions of them.

So. Different. It's so jarring when you start watching and you've got a 9/10-year-old actress as Dorothy.
