I feel that once the Greens started to get more power in state/fed government the rental market has gone to shit and i think more about other assets to buy into like super or shares.

If people like Cate & Simon were running the country, we’d be in much better shape. An impassioned, heartfelt commentary from Simon, with which I fully concur! It’s been a slow motion car crash, since APRA decided to meddle with property investors access to credit, nearly a decade ago. All three layers of government have contributed to this mess, yet we, as property investors are blamed and punished for their ineptitude. Government intervention in free markets never ends well, but the mistakes are repeated and lessons not learnt. We need to free up supply, and incentivise acquisition for the private investor. After all, private investors supply 90% of the residential rental market. Instead, the big end of town are rewarded with the tax concessions for build to rent projects. We’re sadly following the USA in a social decay & division, greater than we’ve ever seen in our modern history. Please don’t blame the property investors though, our politicians and policy makers have failed all of us.
