Samkhya Philosophy
Samkhya is one of the oldest and most influential philosophies in Indian culture. It offers answers to some of life’s biggest questions:
-How was the universe created?
-Who are we?
-What is the purpose of life?
If you’ve ever wondered about these things, Samkhya might have the wisdom you’re looking for.
This philosophy was introduced by Rishi Kapila and is based on dualism, meaning it explains the world through two main elements: Purusha (pure consciousness) and Prakriti (the material world).
These two forces interact to create everything, yet they remain separate from each other.
The Dual Nature of the Universe: Purusha and Prakriti
At the heart of Samkhya is the relationship between Purusha and Prakriti:
-Purusha is the eternal, unchanging consciousness. It is passive and only observes the world without engaging in it. Purusha has no physical form; it’s like a silent witness to everything that happens.
-Prakriti, on the other hand, represents the material world, full of activity and changes. It includes everything we see, feel, and experience-our emotions, thoughts, and the objects around us. Prakriti is dynamic and creates all things, but it cannot function without Purusha.
The interaction between Purusha and Prakriti gives rise to the entire universe. However, even though they work together to create life, they remain independent. Understanding this separation helps us realize who we really are, and how the world functions on a deeper level.
The Three Gunas: Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas
In Samkhya, Prakriti operates through three main qualities, called gunas. These gunas influence everything in life, from our thoughts and emotions to our actions.
Understanding them can help us live a more balanced and peaceful life:
Sattva - The guna of purity, clarity, and balance. When Sattva dominates, we feel peaceful, calm, and full of knowledge. It brings harmony into our lives and helps us see things clearly.
Rajas - This is the quality of activity, energy, and passion. When Rajas is dominant, we become active and energetic, but it can also lead to restlessness, anxiety, and strong desires.
Tamas - The guna of inertia, darkness, and confusion. When Tamas takes over, it leads to laziness, dullness, and a lack of motivation. While Tamas can provide rest, too much of it can make us feel stuck or lost.
These three gunas are always in motion, creating different experiences in life. When we learn to balance them-promoting more Sattva while managing Rajas and Tamas-we can live a healthier, more peaceful life.
Self-Awareness and the Path to Liberation (Moksha)
Samkhya philosophy teaches that the ultimate goal of life is moksha, or liberation. Moksha is the state of freedom from suffering and the endless cycle of desires and attachments. To reach this state, we must recognize that Purusha (our true self) is separate from Prakriti (the material world).
When we realize that our real identity is pure consciousness (Purusha) and not the material body or mind (Prakriti), we become free. This understanding brings peace, happiness, and the end of suffering.
Moksha is not just an intellectual understanding, but a deep spiritual realization that allows us to live without being controlled by our emotions, desires, or the material world. It brings true inner freedom and contentment.
Applying Samkhya Philosophy in Modern Life
Even though Samkhya is an ancient philosophy, its lessons are highly relevant in today’s fast-paced and stressful world. Here’s how you can apply the principles of Samkhya in your daily life:
Understanding Stress: When we are overwhelmed by stress or problems, Samkhya teaches us that these are part of Prakriti-the material world. Our true self, Purusha, is always calm and peaceful. By connecting with our inner consciousness, we can handle stress more effectively.
Balancing the Three Gunas: Modern life often pushes us towards Rajas (overactivity) or Tamas (laziness), causing imbalance. By focusing on practices that promote Sattva-such as meditation, healthy eating, and mindful living-we can restore balance and clarity in our lives.
Meditation and Self-Awareness: Meditation is a powerful tool in Samkhya. It helps us detach from Prakriti and connect with our Purusha.
By becoming aware of our thoughts and emotions without getting involved in them, we find inner peace and calmness.

Please suggest books and authors that you consider best for beginners in philosophy. 🙏
Philosophy can be tricky, so start with basic ideas like Charvaka, Vedanta, Empiricism, and Rationalism. Use resources like Google or Wikipedia to get a solid overview. Once you grasp the basics, you might try reading one key original text from each tradition. Since this can be time-consuming, you can check out platforms like Libgen for ebooks. Focus on selective reading by scanning headings and sections that align with your interests.
Need longer videos🔥🔥👍
Your narration is so soothing ❤
I can see that your channel will go far. One advice I have is that you learn to edit and show quotes and flowcharts in the video. On the research part, this was flawless.
Will do. Thank you for the suggestion.
Your video is lovely❤ make some more ethical video ❤🌷

Individualism aur existentialism me difference kya h ?

There was no VEDIC AGE BRAHMANS creating stories from their side. DEVNAGARI itself was formed after 8th century AD, so how were VEDAS AND MANUSMRITI written?? Totally baseless
The Vedas and Manusmriti were passed down orally for centuries and later written in older scripts like Brahmi, not Devanagari. The existence of these texts doesn’t depend on Devanagari.
@@SyllabuswithRohit what a joke, BRAHMI is the script for DHAMM lippi which is PALI, used by Buddhists. If you have any proof of VEDAS being written in BRAHMI lippi, please show us. The earliest evidence of VED are in DEVNAGARI, pehle apni knowledge correct karo.
@@SyllabuswithRohit there is absolutely no prooof or archeological evidence available to suggest that VEDAS AND MANUSMRITI WERE PASSED down. If brahmins were so Intelligent that they wrote down VEDAS AND MANUSMRITI, couldn't they invent their own script???
Brahmi wasn't limited to Pali; it was used for multiple languages, including Sanskrit. The Vedas were passed down orally for centuries before being written in scripts like Brahmi, Sharada, and later Devanagari. Writing came later, but the oral tradition preserved the Vedas long before that.
