I got to go to Houston, TX when I lived in Spring, TX [west side of I-45] and see Travis Play in a small bar which made watching & feeling him & his Music even more Special! It was a Birthday gift I bought for Myself!!!! I had a necklace that had a Magical Silver Fairy connected to an Ankh. I thru it up on stage. Travis picked it up, He tried to put it on, I didn't expect him to do so at That moment. It would be nice to know that he Did manage to keep it. If not, he at least did have it in his Hand! Before he went on stage I saw him get harassed by the staff for they didn't know who he was. I am Very Thankful Travis decided to Go On With The Show!!!!! I had heard a song from them from the Yellow Album but it was the Song ENEMY on MTV that I was Hooked, That Video was/Is bad Ass. Travis, Do NOT give up!!! You Are the Music and the Music is You!!!
They were NEVER millionaires! At no pont did anyone in that band have a million in their bank account, ever!
So sad story...😢 Rest in peace Kings, we all miss you!!💚✌️
I have 2 Squier sonic mustang guitars, they are beautiful, great for blues. I love inexpensive guitars. ❤️🎸.
I bought this guitar because it has the best tuners.
I've seen some of Travis recent social media activity. He's living somewhere in AZ I believe. Apparently he's been clean a minute and focused on that. He was trying to get all his music equipment back, but ran into some problems. But he seems to be doing well.
Josh wearing the same button that he wore with QOTSA at their 1998? Bizarre Festival appearance
DON'T DO ILLEGAL DRUGS to medicate your depression.
Wait I don’t understand the contradiction. First you said he was found surrounded by drugs and drug paraphernalia and even another syringe loaded with heroin then later you say there were no drugs at the scene only paraphernalia. Which is it?
Meth wrote so much of his music. No doubt.. it writes alot of music.
People have to be humble not pretending faking and so weak Pray !
If you have breath, you have endless possibilities❤
It's my favorite and I've got several expensive guitar's. New songs just jump out of it. It's perplexing. I'm so glad I grabbed it last year.
Opiates create soul crushing despair, but benzodiazepines make you lose your mind, at least temporarily.
Depression has had its big hand on my shoulder for years. Opiates rewire your brain forever. Quit all you want. Its forever.
Mikes bass lines in aic were so sick .
One feeds the other
Jerry is the traitor
Make should say - our music where....coz it's true. They already died.
Not true. There was a small quantity of powder cocaine on the table in front of layne when they found his body. There were also several loaded syringes, one of which was still in his hand as he died. An addict as bad as layne, plus having almost an endless supply of money, would have gigantic quantities of dope laying around his house. He didn't have to go out and steal or sell his soul like the rest of us. Plus he was way too sick to go out every single day to score. I'm guessing he probably picked up enough for a couple weeks or months at a time and just turned himself into a half dead pin cushion. Also, there was $500 in cash found on the floor next to his toilet. Mike could've easily taken all of it if he wanted, but didn't because he knew his friend relied on it purely for survival. RIP to two of the greatest to ever do it
If you let go of your ego, you'll beat addiction.
That epi needs a serious cleaning, my man. Your hardware is corroding, and your fretboard is greasier than a McDonald's dining room table.......Nuff Said
My friend and I went up to his condo shortly after, some kids let us up. We only got up to the floor, but it was so surreal.
#MensMentalHealthMatters #MensMentalHealth 💜💜 Mens Mental health is a Subject that isn't Spoken about as much as it Needs to be.. ♥️
❤
Miss both of these guys. Always in my heart. No more pain, Layne, Mike and Demri. ❤❤❤
Did you know them personally?
A lot of people think using is a choice. It’s not. There are many variables to addiction, but it most definitely starts from depression and the need to feel better- to have some relief from the crippling constant shit going on in your head! I’m super frustrated with people who have no empathy for addicts. Depression, trauma, anxiety, stress are real and serious and debilitating. It is NEVER a person’s choice to be an addict.
Worst narration l have ever heard in my life. Was this a real person or AI??
Layne died the same day as kurt cobain 8 years apart
Mike and Layne look so healthy, but this is before Dirt, on which Layne sings a lot about his addiction.
I remember this program and this episode especiallynas I'm an addict also and was in a decent space at this time, guilt and shame are emotions that have to be confronted the fact that we carry them Is in a lot of cases unwarranted some people just punish themselves for no reason, I've seen other people who behave terribly and have no shame or guilt it's a f#ct up thing but ultimately harbouring these emotions can and will kill you... Peace
That's nice they tried to help him....but, can't do much for a body that's been abused with heavy drugs and alcohol for a decade or longer. You can't reverse organ damage, you try to slow down the destruction... Had Mike called 911 - what really could they have done. Prolong his suffering for another few days? It's sad they had an argument. It's also sad Mike had any guilt...Layne had been working on his demise for years
Drugs in the late 80s were good. The shit they we're getting on the street in Seattle was still fairly high quality. I lived this life. I was heavy into coke but never used heroin or a needle. We had a jam house with 2 bands we sold the shit from that house for years. We had a huge circle of friends we would unload 3-4 ounces per weekend in small amounts. Everyone did it. Big party scene in San Diego. We lost a lot of people this way. Coke and alcohol mostly with pills. The guys that just stuck to the snort and beer survived. All the guys that fell into needles and heroin and pills were completely wasted. I started using crack heavy but I got out. I'm 59 now I'm lucky I survived. I was sick from all the partying and drugs alcohol and eating like shit and no sleeping. I crashed at 39. I was sick for 15 years from living that life. I'm still rocking I don't use anything anymore. Some of those guys back in the day just got lost in the shit and went way too hard into darkness and never returned. It's good to be alive.
Oh man, that almost made me cry. I can't even imagine the pain and guilt he had. I think about this with a friend of mine because he was with me when I fell through a skylight on a roof we shouldn't have been on. I had brain surgery, was in a coma for a day and wonder how he would've dealt with it had I died. I've talked to him about it and he looks at it as being blessed he was there in order to contact 911 and save me, so that feels good. But, if it had ended differently I wonder if he could've felt the same way. Man, I really had no feelings when Kurt died but when Layne left I felt it.
I love Layne Staley
Just say no!
Their music still takes me back in time. Love me some AIC.
Shut up bit**
Sad thing is Layne died years before his heart stopped beating.
I wish people would take these two examples and realize drugs are bad. Even Alcohol. Even Cigarettes. These two were the only addicts in the group and they're both dead, the rest of them are doing fine. Drugs equals earth grave and wasted talent.
I was a huge AIC fan (still am) when Layne passed. I was 16 and found out from my boyfriend at the time and it was just depressing. The way drugs just wipe out whole generations of people is tragic. The people who make and sell these drugs are evil incarnate. Most don’t do the drug themselves cause they see what it does. But money is more important to them than human life. And I’m not talking about the small time dealer, I’m talking about the gangs/cartels/ China who manufacture the stuff and smuggle it into countries. China is now manufacturing xylazine and what usually is made in liquid form they’re making it in powder form so it’s easier to mix in with drugs like fentanyl. You can’t tell me that’s not intentional. Idk, I feel at this point it should be considered a crime against humanity as they’re killing thousands upon thousands of people.
I can cope with the Depression part, itz a prison of hell that you can never truly escape. My own memories of Good and bad makes me depressed on and off. Selfish and bad to say. But honestly times were I don't want to live I can see why people go to drugs, no excuse period. You never can escape your WAR with your Soul and Mind. R.I.P. LAYNE STALEY/MIKE STARR Thank you all for delivering us some great talent &music. Forever eternally awesome 😎😎😎😔✊🏽🎼🎼🎼🎙🎶💯💯💯💯
April 19th 2002 . Not kurt cobaines date April 5th
He was found on the 19th. He died on the 5th
I miss Travis and Days of the New.
Haven't listened to a single song of theirs once he was replaced by lenny kravitz.
I was on the done with Mike.He always wanted benzos. I however did not want to be responsible for him maybe dying. Poor guy. RIP to all my hometown grunge heroes.
Mike and Nancy got me crying 😢
I just have a bad feeling that when she said did you see my son die, i think he did, i think Layne died right then and he robbed him whatever drugs he had because there was nothing else there but a loaded rig and when your on zans you black out and do shit you dont remember and got mad and then see him soeedballing having a heart attack and just grapped the rest of his shit and left i cant be the only ine to think thisnand thats probably why he later ended up dying he couldn't handle the guilt that he let him die snd t
As a child of Louisville in the late 90's, this band had a LOT of potential. Listening to any of the albums takes me back to a better time.
RIP guys...you are missed 😥😥✝️✝️
