I recently traveled to Burkina Faso, Africa where 85% of the country does not have access to clean water sources. After seeing firsthand the dire conditions the people of Burkina Faso live in, we at FLAG UP-MAIL IN have made a commitment to build over 1000 fresh water wells throughout Burkina Faso.
The United Nations ranks Burkina Faso as the third poorest country in the world. The population of Burkina Faso is approximately 14.8 million people, the average income is only about $400 per year. The average life expectancy of men is 51 years and women 54 years. One out of three children will probably die before they ever reach the age of ten. The deaths are mostly due to a lack of fresh water. This short life span and the deaths of children is due mostly to a lack of fresh water. The women of Burkina Faso often walk several miles to a dirty stream or stagnant pool, just to fill a bowl with water. We must act quickly and bring clean water to these people.
To help in the mission of building over 1000 wells, FLAG UP-MAIL IN LLC is committing at least $5.00 from each flag purchased from this website to go to build water wells in Burkina Faso. You can make a difference in the lives of the people of Burkina Faso.

From what I have read on the comments most of the people are trying to use this flag to indicate they are sending mail out. This flag is only to let you know the mail person has opened your mail box to put mail in. The red flag which is usually the standard flag is suppose to be the one you raise when you have out going mail.
I did this. The mailer didn't take my mail. They just left it.
Most American thing I have seen. My mailbox is just embedded in the door. So mail fals on doormat.
If the mailman picks up your outgoing mail, the flag goes up. He may not have left you any mail, however. You will have to go out and check. Minor inconvenience.

I don't understand, I bought a signal flag for my mailbox for $3.97 at Home Depot yesterday so I'm not sure what you've invented here.

I was about to say they same thing about the flag. This needs to be more discrete too. It's a great way for a thief to see that you have mail.
This product is somewhat dated now. I use USPS's Informed Delivery service which not only tells me I have mail or not but also shows me a scanned photo. I can still see this product being though useful for other types of home deliveries such as Rx, FEDEX or UPS packages that aren't allowed to be placed in a regular USPS mailbox.
but you don't know WHEN the mail is delivered during the day, so you could make multiple trips to an empty mailbox
@@Guywithcrazyideas I've seen one where a yellow metal piece pops up on top when the lid is opened. It doesn't get blown down by the wind and the customer puts it down after getting the mail and knows mail is delivered when it's sticking up. Way better than leaving the red flag up and carrier having to stop every day even if there's no mail for that address.
@@Guywithcrazyideas Actually, I do know WHEN my mail is delivered. Aside from Christmas holidays, my carrier adheres to a strict schedule and almost always drops my mail off at/near the same time each day and for packages that won't fit in my box, I've instructed them to ring my doorbell. Informed Delivery works for me because I don't waste trips to pick up junk mail. Maybe it's not for everyone but I like the convenience of it. 🙂
Postal Service now has a FREE service to see what’s coming in your box... sign up with email and you’ll get an email that has a picture of what your getting. I’m a mail carrier from TX I know it works
I use Informed Delivery especially when expecting checks. It's a wonderful feature! It shows a scanned pic of your mail on a daily basis. Twice it showed a delivery that wasn't in my box which allowed me to notify my carrier that it was missing. One of the pieces got wet after the scan and washed my address away but because I had the scanned photo it was easy for my carrier to find and deliver. I'm sure there are still some, but not many, people who don't use the internet and this could work for them.

When I look out the window, my mailbox is sitting crossway to my view, so the flag would be hard to see. I need it to be turned 90 degrees.
How does the mailman know that you have mail in the mailbox for him to pick up. All other boxes have a flag when it is up it tells them there is mail in the box for him to pick up.

The mailman looks for a red flag on the right side of the mailbox to let him know you have outgoing mail. The flag that tells you that you have mail is mounted on the opposite side (left side) of the mailbox. It is not red. Paint it any color but red, or buy this white one this man is advertising.
This design will only work with mail boxes of this design. Snow load and winds are likely a problem for this as well. Looks like it will only mount on the left side of the box. Check out the Mail Box Butler.
Yes, needs to be a box with the door that fits OVER the box lip, not the type i have that is recessed into the box. maybe could use magnets?

This is a great idea.BUT, what if you leave mail in the mailbox for pick-up and the mail carrier has no mail to leave for you? Is it up to the mail carrier to re-position that flag?

You are my hero! I am from the Northern part of BF, Ouahigouya and I've been in texas since 02. The last two times I have visited were pretty hard for me to see how hard it is to get access to regular water from a fountain or a well since it doesn't rain that much. We had a well in my family, our source of water and sometimes during the year, my dad had have guys to dig deeper to have access to the water. It's like Mission IMPOSSIBLE but I know ppl like you & I can make it POSSIBLE! Blessings
