These were considered Kings. I remember a bunch of them cruising back in the 80’s. One of them could switch lanes without turning the wheel, tapped the accelerator and slid sideways. A late friend had one and let me drive it, pure beast.
super super sexy nice car man! unreal! you hold history
Attention!!!! Unfortunately, due to the BABVVO, TEBBVO and SCHLABOUBVE laws in the EU, CH USA and Scandinavia, all petrol cars will soon be banned from public roads :-( In Germany, the Green People's Party has probably ordered that fuel supplies be shortened from 2025 by reducing all conventional petrol stations to just another state central gas station per city or district. Now they even want to slow down all gas pumps by 20 liters per minute to 2 liters per minute... From 2027, some car spare parts will also be banned in the EU... such as exhaust systems, turbochargers and even some engine and transmission oils... California and New York will do the same from 2027... So no more investments in gasoline cars... They even created a new type of crime here called the “Federal Exhaust Gas Funneling Prohibition Ordinance” (BABVVO) in Germany and HESCHLAVVO (Switzerland) and SMORVERBIDDEN in Sweden. Unfortunately, the “Green Jesus Federal Exhaust Gas Ban Ordinance” (BABVVO) will soon ban the driving of combustion engines in public outside of proven commuter and transport journeys, as emissions fun will then constitute a traffic offense! In addition, the green Jesus of Germany is probably planning to shut down all chimneys from June 2025 and have them filled with foam.
Very cool - learned to drive in a '70 skylark custom 350/2
Like something John Wayne Gacy would take out cruising for the next victim.
😂😂
@@brettslater872 Definitely not a clown car, though. Very sinister and intimidating. If I saw it on the road, I'd get away. Seems like in one of the movies about that guy he drove a car very similar. It's not the silly one with Brian Dennehy. Very scary movie!
Potato potato Looks tough all blacked out. I only saw the luxury editions as a kid - wild to even see a 4 on the floor ha.
Badass
Torque Monster.👍
The hemi hunter
Like the build, someone took their time, saved and spent a lil more in the right places. Is your qjet set up for a high idle when cold? Im in Ca and drank the "dont need a choke" bit. BS...big difference with none at all. Before, any weather, even if it sat for a month...1/2 throttle pump just one turn the key and let it warm up
The divorced choke is now working as designed - even with an aftermarket intakes. Check out my most recent Q-Jet video and you'll see what I mean. 😊
The sound it makes when the 4 barrels are open I have 2 68 Riviera
Damn that sounds like heaven!
Sounds great! The quadrajet is probably one of the best designed 4 barrel carb out there. That's if it's in good tune and not worn out. They have been put on Chevy 305s. All the way up to 500 cu in Cadillac engines. Hell even Ford has used them. They installed them on their big badass 429 engines. And that was from the factory! One thing that GM got right! Along with the Turbo hydramatic 350 and 400 transmissions.
I wholeheartedly agree! Plus, I have a fantastic builder. This is VERY close to fuel injection. 😁
I had a 67 Rivera with a 430 Wild Cat engine. 430s 455s, great engines!
Olds carb on a Buick?
Buick Q-Jet from a '73 455, rebuilt to my engine specs.
@@brettslater872 My mistake.
Sweet Sound!
G'day Brett, I was thinking about your last comment 4 wheel drum brake no assist, you would think such a thing would exist on a Stage 1 Buick GS. Otherwise tough idle for sure. Cheers Louis Kats from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 👍
That is how they were designed to work and they did on oh idk hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks flawlessly for many many years on everything from six cylinders to big blocks w only some internal modifications from rochester they came in two sizes 750 and 800 only till the 80s when they had different ones but the beauty of them is it only feeds what the engine calls for unlike a holley a holley you have to get a 650 or 750 or whatever the engine needs the good old q jet can be an 800 cfm on a 305 chevy and the air doors only open according to engine vacuum and give it only the amount of air and fuel needed the best all around carbs ever made hands down great fuel mileage on just rhe small primaries again holleys dont have that ability and they really let you know wjen you do open the secondaries unlike a yeah a holley square bore trash carburetor no jets or power valves to have to work on taking the bowls off and getting fuel alll over the intake manifold last q jet i ran i took off a 400 pontiac angine that had been sitting in a shed for 20 years i bolted it on and all i did was blow it off w compressed air inside and out get the cobwebs out lol started it up and did nothing even the accelerator pump worked flawlessly lets see a holley do all that lmao never in a gazillion years that 800 cfm carb ran the 305 just fine it far surpassed the holley i took off in every way mostly part throttle response that was the biggest noticeable difference at first so if im giving it less throttle to get moving then of course better fuel economy it woke up the engine compared to what was on. It for sure ive always beem a q jet guy and always will be had so many old pontiac and Oldsmobile chevy motors back in rhe day w them that rocked that moan in the night carried for miles my buddies always heard me coming for miles away Rochester engineers hit the nail on the head for sure w the good old q jet boys lol
I couldn't agree more!
I would love to have that engine in a older pickup
starts great! I've also a rochester on my 71 455HO Trans Am, but I made the choke manual. It opens better when "hot". Cheers from France
Love the tried and true Q Jet
Oh you have Edelbrock heads too, I didn't know. Lovely car sadly my Quadrajet has some broken parts, mainly the chokesystem... so I moved to an Edelbrock AVS 650cfm. Runs decent, could have been the 750 or 850... but she runs great A bit high on Idle sadly... How high is your car idling?
The heads are ported cast iron '70 Stage 1's. I'd love aluminum, though. The intake is an old Edelbrock B4B and high idle is usually around 1,300 rpm. Once it kicks down to the 2nd step (before base idle), it's right around 1,050 ish. Perfect for warm up.
@@brettslater872 Looks like the Idle on the Buick V8 is a little bit higher than on Chevy 454s.
@@YanniDesigns once warm, it idles around 850-900.
1970 gs 455 stage 1 the true KING of the street! Hemi can kiss my azz! This is a absolute beauty in black!
Thank you!
G'day Brett, I left a really nice comment but for some reason UA-cam took it down, why I don't know just being difficult as per usual. Thank you UA-cam for being difficult without a reason. Notice no brake booster too much of a cam or is it the way it came out of the factory. No seat getting repaired just sounds awesome as per usual. Cheers Louis Kats 👍
The seat was out while I was refinishing the lower kick panel. You can see in the clip it's missing under the dash. Removing the 4 nuts that hold the seat down is much easier than trying to get under there with it in the car. The car was ordered with manual drum brakes, which gave me more freedom of a cam choice, combined with the 4-speed.
And with 510ft lbs. of torque, unbelievable!
I had to turn on my subwoofer so I could revel in this sound. It was almost like being there.
That thing is EVIL looking 💓👍🇺🇸
Big ol nasty cam lawd hav mercy 😢
My first new car.....70 GS 455 Stg.1 4spd no air, power anything. Loved that street racer!
That's awesome! Aside from power steering, mine is optioned the same way.
Love this Buick gs 455!!! 🤩It's my dream american car!Awesome with 4 speed transmission, shifts so so smooth and precise 💪🏻💪🏻
"If you only knew the power of the Dark Side..!"
😂😂💪💪
OK, fine then!
😊ok
😊
Ok
G'day Brett, She looks absolutely mint. The best looking 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 in history, those hubcaps & matching colour rims sets it apart from other Buicks. Cant get enough of your beast. Hope they make a 1:18 Scale Diecast of your beast. Lets not forget the sound enough said. Hope you cleaned up at the show. Cheers Louis Kats from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 👍 🇺🇸
great sound
Probably the best sounding car on the internet. And I'm a Ford guy !!!!!!!!
Thanks!! 😁😁
I adore this car
That makes 2 of us. 😁
Hell yeah. ✌🏻🗿
Goodbye Hemi Cuda....
😂😂😂
Enjoy the video walking around your car thinking about starting your car very much thank you into the engine of your car open also your muffler austell thank you❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉😊
Wow I'm surprised it did not have power assisted brakes
Whoever originally ordered it was apparently only concerned with going fast and straight. Stopping was optional. 😂
I never have enough of the mighty Buick V8 roarin', even at idle. Thank you. 👏🏻🗿
G'day Brett, Absolutely stunning from every angle & boy what a idle sounds super tough. Cheers Louis Kats 👍
Thanks!!
