PINK FLOYD TONES!!! On My 1967 Sound City 100w Mark 3
Nice video. FYI - The original Vibroverb 63 was the first fender amp with Reverb, not Tremolo. I also think the Bassman RI from this same era was a great RI. That was actually the first RI, followed by the VVRI shortly after.
I sold mine five or six years ago and I still missed that amp. Probably the best fender I’ve had.
I got a 75 mk2 w a 74 creamback cab
Been playing 62+ years, mostly Fenders. Jazzmasters and Jaguars and Telecasters have flatpoles ... why not Stratocasters? Big fan here, of flatpoles. No squalling third string!!!
Golden :)
And don't forget to get us the date :)
But you don’t need to go deaf, or rely on pedals to get that tone. Just turn it up to 8, take say -8db off with an attenuator, and roll down your guitar volume for cleans(just like Page did) It will still be loud, but not so loud you’re blowing out your ears and speakers, and the sound will be more organic and authentic.
Taste and Chops Well Done !!
Excellent playing!! Cheers!
Brilliant
That was soooo funny. Your guitar face is first class. Love it.
I just watched it again 😂😂 you're right pretty funny. Cheers
@@floydsvintageguitargear4721 Good playing though. Keep it up.
Great vid. I got a 75 50w sl on a 74 cab w orig creambacks
My '79 Dual Showman is pretty sweet. I run it with 2 power tubes like a concert/bandmaster for the 50 watts. Vibrato is sublime; I leave it on, plugging a Hammond M3 into it, and skipping the Leslie for the on/off, slow/fast buttons built in.
It is also the best guitar amp I've ever played.
I bought a 1966 Showman a few days which arrives tomorrow. I can't wait to plug it in to hear a Showmans tone for the first time.
Well you know, it aint easy
I just bought one and got a great deal. My one is not in great condition and does need some work - but my goodness, it sounds glorious!
Two mins of playing and five mins of talking. Let the amp do the talking.
Doesn't sound cranked
Plug a Les Paul or an SG into that beauty, the way God intended.
Thumbs down, dont recommend this awful channel.
alex turner also plays one of these
Got me a 1965 BM Picked it up for $500 years ago when nobody cared about these gems
Very very sweet tone, Kevin! And fantastic playing of course!
Thank you so much 😊👍 the amp is doing all the hard work.
Sounds great and top playing! 👋 I love Mesas with single coils, especially a Tele.
Thank you very much
I have a 1973 super bass 100 with a matching 4x12. It peels the paint off my walls...
.
Have the same year custom les Paul. Nothing is as good now. Have to put the Tim Shaw pickups in all my Gibsons now.
They certainly are special and they seem to age like a fine wine. Cheers
This is awesome! Please do more vids on vintage equipment.
You are very kind thank you.
I'd say your playing was as much a contributing factor as the amp to that tone. Great job.
Many thanks.
Please use a Guitar-strap, your enthusiasm is fantastic but we don't want to see that " repairing a LP p90 goldtop" video. All I know is that the " Super-bass" head has a very well designed EQ which I am told is different to the Lead Guitar series of heads. When you open her up show us the EQ wiring, it would be nice, thanks.
Will do 👍
He is wearing a strap.maybe you meant a white strap so you can see it's there 😅
I thought you were a young Peter Hook LOL
I also own a MKIII blue stripe. I really enjoyed your previous video about the Fender Princeton. Just wondering have you compared the clean channel on MKIII to the Princeton? I know the spring reverb won’t be as good on the MKIII, but just wondering about the overall tone
Hi, unfortunately I sold the Princeton a while ago so can do a side by side comparison. I would say the biggest difference would ne a Princeton is a one trick pony while the Boogie can achieve lots of different tones. The Boogie also has a lot more power. I hope this helps. Regards
@@floydsvintageguitargear4721 thanks for your reply

Sounds amazing, love the sustain. What pedal are you using to drive the amp?
Dude you are a monster player
That is extremely kind of you, thank you so much.
80s boogie combos are truly amazing
which speakers are you using?
Celestion GT75
Marshall 4x12 1960A cab 👍
great videos keep them coming
Thank you very much.
Really liked the I Might be Wrong sound, that was bang on
Radiohead are my favorite band. Thanks
I have one of these with blues and just love it
They are truly amazing amps, especially with the blues.
Lovely guitar - right up my street.
Many thanks.
Very interesting. I appreciate your passion for musical discovery or perhaps rediscovery in this case. This is similar to when I play a telecaster through my old 1966 Valco Airline amp...mid-Sixties Garage Band Rock in all it's 6V6 glory.
Thank you very much. Your rig sounds very interesting indeed.
It stood out in the age of the Marshall amp, for sure. And the Soldanos that followed a few years later, and the Mesa Boogies that followed that and the solid state amps of the late 80's and early 90's that were made to replicate a tube amp and finally through the Boutique amps of the late 90's and early 2000s. Technology finally caught up and can now reproduce the sound of these amps fairly faithfully but cannot replicate the way they start to overdrive past the 9 o'clock position. These types of amps are meant to be felt as much as heard, the particulars of each model I mentioned is fascinating to me. Thanks again for yoour interesting post. @@floydsvintageguitargear4721
'It sounds like the whole room is an amp' - Exactly how I felt about this beauty! Great video 🤘🤘
Many thanks.
Great video. Big part of 40s sound was also strings they were used. From research the flatwounds were not so popular yet, but they didn’t for sure play plain G string as you have there, nor the pure nickel or nickel over steel strings. Something called Monel was used, some mixture of metals. They stoped making strings like that in 60s but in recent years couple companies bring them back. Should try them and make part II. Cheers.
Thanks so much, I'll definitely check it out.
Monel is an alloy of Nickel and Copper. Strings with Monel have a warm tone with subtle brilliance. I use vintage strings on a Super 400 with a Charlie Christian pickup, different tonal spectrum than a P90.
Amazing! Like stepping into a time machine ✨
It really is 👍
I'd I do like that guitar it does sound good! I love p90s
Thank you Dave 👍
I have one like yours but no master volume. I really love this amp. Can I se your master volume
I thought the jtm45 was 30 watts.
If you want to help narrow down what year this is, open the back cover and read the numbers on the pots. If they are original pots, the first five numbers should read 13773- - - the fourth and fifth number indicate the year. Numbers six and seven will indicate which month in that year the potentiometers were made… There you go. I also have a 73 black beauty.

One of the better Princeton Reverb demos out there! If you had run through pedals, I would have been gone in seconds. Great playing too!
