The assertion by the World Economic Forum that mankind has entered the Fourth Industrial Revolution which is quoted to introduce this creatively conceived “CANVASS”for the weighting” room of CAFEPOS” seems to point to the need for a revolution in thinking which may be achieved by the attainment by mankind of a state of enlightenment or innate wisdom that would, perhaps, eliminate the situation of “The Righteous vs The Profane” in the CAFE by the understanding of the sacred and the secular in terms of the mores of the society. Furthermore, an enlightened world would have eliminated the need for global superpowers by locating first and final decision making power in the villages of the world. Cheers to the concept and the conceptualizers.

Friday June 21st 2024 was not “the longest day” by coincidence, for it was also “DDAY” that Kelvin Carmino delivered my authorised 461-page hard cover copy of Bukka Rennie’s treatise ‘Mettle and Metal - The Birth of Steel Pan Music And The History of Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra.’ His citation “To Simeon Sandiford, audaciously progressive and enlightened” inevitably invoked Merchant’s Calypso ‘Norman is that you?’ for inspiration, as Kelvin intimated “Bukka expects a full review,” while simultaneously photographing two boxes containing the open reel analogue masters (Sides A & B, respectively) of NOSTALGIA (SANCH 8602) from which real-time cassettes were replicated from the first of several on-location recordings at @Central Bank Auditorium. The most significant achievement of the officially proclaimed National Musical Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago in Parliament two Thursdays ago, is the @Trinidad&Tobago Bureau of Standards TTBS Standard ‘Steelpan-Terminology TTS 412:2015’ in which the word Steelpan, not Steel Pan or Steel Drum has been accepted by @International Organization for Standardization ISO and which, therefore, mandates merger of the words Steel and Pan on Bukka’s book cover, and within, if required. It occurred to me that three groups of persons would benefit from Bukka’s methodical research - Babies in the Womb & Toddlers, Vehicular Commuters and Elders. With contents expertly narrated as Podcasts for this potentially lucrative market by one male and one female All Stars’ Member, incorporating appropriate background music and other “effects” from The SANCH Digital Catalogue, mechanical royalties will be generated automatically and distributed twice annually by @Cott Music COTT. This would please “Mr. SANCH” very much as the world’s first Steelband Compact Disc, DELOS MUSIC DE 4011 - Steelbands of Trinidad and Tobago, contained five tracks from NOSTALGIA. Furthermore, DE3079 Perchance to Dream - A Lullaby Album for Children and Adults, is the one that had spontaneously enlightened the “audaciously progressive” me to propose the initiative. A Documentary and HELL YARD RAMASCAPE©using AI, CANVA and Dolby Atmos Technologies are also possible as future generations aspire to “Global Competitiveness by Daydreaming and “DayStreaming” with eyes wide open.

“Daystreaming Medley” is a mix of 3 songs by the composer, Frank Clarke, from his book of poems and songs “Chaconias”, namely, “Good Morrow” (Poem 30, Page 40), “When I Think of You” (Poem 59, Page 72, and “Good Morning Neighbour” (Poem 57, Page 70), composed, so to speak, in life’s “departure lounge” by the nanogenarian composer for the enjoyment of all who might hear the audio and view the video.

What a wonderful medley of beautiful and inspiring songs. Such a simple yet elegant piece that brings joy and warmth to its listener with impressive vocals, especially the high note at the end. Amazing!

This enchanting, engaging, enterprising, evolving video was conceptualized by my mentor and “elder brother” - Frank Clarke - nanogenarian and younger brother of retired philanthropist Gloria Horsham. With engineering, vocals and imaginative imagery ingeniously interwoven into the “tapestry” by Sheldon Morales; thereby creating the new descriptive words - Daystreaming/Lifestreaming - became nothing but a piece of the proverbial cake for “Mr. SANCH.” Thus, the “theme team” welcomes your kind comments, whether they be good, bad, indifferent, or otherwise. Tito's feet shuffled front to back while those of all other band members swayed from side to side. And yet, his immaculate timing was incredibly precise.

The Lara Brothers performed at Mexico's Afro-Caribbean Festival of the Arts in Vera Cruz from June13 to 22, 1997. "There's a BABY in this group", shrieked a bemused female flight attendant during our outboard AA flight from Piarco to Miami for ongoing connections to Mexico City. Thereafter, we had our own version of a "greyhound bus" with driver and conductor for the next ten days in which the value of sign language became apparent to "the baby" - Uno Dos Tres Cuatro, Violin, Saxophone, Flute...

This is a fun, upbeat and catchy song with important and inspiring lyrics. The inclusion of the steelpan throughout the song is also a nice touch, adding to the "Caribbean-ness" of the music.

Yes, a beautiful composition. Sometimes, more than we think, we need somber, sober, melodious music in our space to quell the noise, fears and trauma of this current time. Thank you for sharing. Happy NEW Year

Back in the mid-1970s I did a series of five-minute programmes on NBS Radio 610 (Radio Guardian) titled, 'Calypso Topic', in which I featured the calypsoes that emerged from news and current affairs topics. When the Forsyth Highlanders steelband played in the Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral in Port-of-Spain; and the Guinness Cavaliers took up their positions in the Susamachar Presbyterian Church in San Fernando on Sunday August 29, 1965; the Lord Bryner noted the occasions with his calypso, "Pan In Church". That calypso and its story provided material for my "Calypso Topic" radio programme on 610 Radio almost 50 years ago.

How in the world that this classical piece played by the best steel orchestra in the world “Bp Renegades” missed 1st place? How did this happen? What were the judges thinking? Only the haters will denounce this.

By happy coincidence, this video, “Sermon in Steel” precedes both the declaration by the United Nations that World Steelpan Day be observed annually on August 11, and the call by the Head of State of Trinidad and Tobago that the steelpan should be declared to be the national instrument of that country.

Very educational with a great look into the evolution of the stigma against the steelpan in its early days of creation to the worldwide celebration and appreciation of the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago!
