ESM Bearcat powered by Laser 240v - first flight after repairs
Переглядів 2013 місяці тому
2 years ago my Bearcat suffered a lean cut on take off which resulted in the U/C getting ripped out on the subsequent fast return to earth! I decided that it was time to fix the damage and this was the first flight after the repairs, unfortunately due to various simultanious events the take off was delayed by quite a while and I made the silly mistake of not stopping the engine and refuelling s...

The design of the engine had a flaw in it so Laser made new parts and have replaced them in my in-line twins. It's now better than its ever been and has been worth the wait to get it back especially as they have now closed down. A very big thank you to Jon Harper who despite no lonbger working for them has rebuilt these engines in his own time.

Do you use these types of small hinges in foam planes or just use strong tape for the hinge?

  • @Mikinct

Great video, thanks 4 posting. Can you visibly see any seams from paper? Would using primer hide them then paint. How to cover over or around corners, bumps, taperered areas. Reason I ask is if I decide to cut paper to better go around curved areas would I see half a dozen cuts?

I have the very same Hurricane powered by a Laser 180 since 2013. Always feels just a bit underpowered and not "high" on safety margins, especially on go-arounds. As for the landings, she can be landed really nicely but she will 95% of the time scrape one of her wingtips. As a result of the above, she's by far my least flown plane - with regard to Lasers, I consider them the best engines ever.

The Hurricane is way easier to fly than any Spitfire....Put it on Petrol, it will consume 70% less fuel....and cleaner...even on 25 to 1 ratio...Glo Fuel typically has a 17 % oil content, the Nitro residue creates Nitric Acid as a by product and rots bearings....😳😏🇬🇧

@@rongray3888 Nitric acid is a bye product of burning Nitromethene, it ends up in the crankcase. It's just a fact....😳🙄🇬🇧 That said, there is very little smoke in the video, what fuel are you using and how much oil is in it...?

I usually set up different rates for a new model then alter to what I think is best. As I had changed Tx I wanted to make sure I had different settings to play with but now that it’s sorted I can revert to 1 main set of control throws. Another I do is have flight modes so that I can switch between them for different parts of a flight such as take off and landing the advantage being that each flight mode can have its own set of trims. Unless the model is a 3D one I don’t believe in having more than 30% expo.

  • @winklton
