Are Cloth Diapers Smelly?!
I think they smell better than disposables, here's a logical breakdown of why 💡
When the poop and pee sit around for so long ina trash can, the odor causing bacteria keep multiplying. When you remove the poo from the equation, the stank is immediately reduced. Great news right? Additionally, you are able to entirely take care of business (washing) as often as you see fit. We have trash pickup once a week, the smell can get pretty strong in that time.🫠🥴

    Having worked at my own Child care and ther Govmt Childcare center. No. No one wants to wash and rinse your kids diaper. And the trash can for a pamper is a metal cylinder with a secure tpo and a plastic liner

    • @ArcadiasNursery
      @ArcadiasNursery 4 місяці тому

      Nobody is asking a daycare to wash or rinse. You very simply place the diaper into a receptacle that the parents provide, they take it home where they do the rinsing, washing, laundering, maintenance etc. It is no different for them, except the location they put the used diaper. It was a skit. The pretend garbage can is a joke. The point is that at any given point in time (unless every single diaper is taken outside to a dumpster) there is quite literally pee and poop present. It comes with the territory of babies and toddlers.

      @@jadesterbaby It's a good question! No, human waste actually doesn't belong in the trash because it contaminates landfills. The most appropriate place is a sewer or septic system where the feces gets treated. I have a sprayer on the back of my toilet, and I use a device called a gusset stretcher to hold the pocket while a spray it off. Google "Diaper Dawgs" to see what it looks like, it's just one way to get the poop off and down the toilet. There are times where baby's poop just "plops" right off of the diaper.

    What point are we making here? You want cloth diapers and all the work and gross that comes with it, fine. You cannot make a preschool/daycare handle your child's cloth diapers for you. If you want that, you'll need to hire someone who agrees to the extra work up front.

    • @ArcadiasNursery
      @ArcadiasNursery 4 місяці тому

      It isn't more gross to handle a cloth diaper, you simply place it into a bag for the parents, the same way you place a disposable into the trash for the garbage man. There are no other steps. Many facilities accept cloth diapers because they know it's literally that simple. The point is that there is no additional work for daycare staff.

      The opposite is true especially when you actually change your baby as frequently as they should be changed. Cloth diapers have more durable elastics, which also helps prevent blowouts! 🤯 I used disposable diapers exclusively for almost 2 years, and the blowouts were obnoxious. With cloth diapers the messes are actually contained.

  • @BluDonHamp
    @BluDonHamp 4 місяці тому

    I'm sorry but as a preschool teacher I'm not keeping bodily fluids in the classroom. 16 children having between 3-6 changes a day is a lot of bodily waste. We barely have storage let alone a place for cloth diapers. The sealed garbage can is changed every three hours and more if needed. Cloth diapers are not practical for us. We also supply diapers at our school.

    • @ArcadiasNursery
      @ArcadiasNursery 4 місяці тому

      I know what daycare cubbies look like and know that they are large enough for a wet bag, because many facilities happily accommodate it instead of making a big deal out of it. It's a non-issue if you understand how cloth diapers work, and it's no different than having disposables in a trash can.

    • @BluDonHamp
      @BluDonHamp 4 місяці тому

      @@ArcadiasNursery the infants pull things out of the cubbies all of the time. They are in the classroom with the children and accessable at all times. It is a very big difference because the garbage is not accessible to the children. If a place is set up for cloth diapers that is fine but in the 20 years I've worked with children I have never been in one. I also used cloth diapers at home but I would not at work. It is not practical.

    • @ArcadiasNursery
      @ArcadiasNursery 4 місяці тому

      @@BluDonHamp I've never seen the infants diaper area/storage and cubbies be at child level.*That* is the impractical part. They can just rip into their spare clothing at any time? That doesn't make sense, you'd have to be constantly redirecting them. There has to be shelving/ cabinets out of the childrens reach, right? Not having storage above their reach sounds like awful design choices.

      Have you ever worked in a daycare? Because you’re adding a lot of work for people who already have the hassle of taking care of 4-10+ rampaging children when they really aren’t paid enough to deal with their waste. A believe me, those wet bags are also disgusting and spread a bunch of germs because most people don’t think to wash them unless they have a stain. You want to use clothe diapers fine more power to you but don’t look down on people who are just trying to make the care for children easier

    • @ArcadiasNursery

      @@dalishrogue3621 Please don't put words in my mouth with the "don't look down on people" type of remark if you want to keep having this conversation, thank you. Wet bags are meant to be washed after they have been used. That would be on the individual for not understanding how the product works. No, I don't work at a daycare. A fellow cloth diaper business owner is a former infant room teacher though! I know enough to know that cloth at daycare doesn't create any additional steps for daycare workers.
