Fishing for late fall walleye in the Bay of Quinte.
Переглядів 1,4 тис.4 роки тому
Back in November, I decided to try and learn how to fish for walleye, so I went out to the Bay of Quinte to try and catch one. I marked a few of what I think were walleye but I couldn't catch them. To make up for the lack of walleye I got my first freshwater drum and white perch!

where is this?
What lures were you using for lake trout there? I was fishing and got nothing last weekend in Algonquin.
Hey could you kindly tell what lake that is
That’s Burt island and we go camping there every year
You guys should get a medal for paddling/portaging that tub into that spot..lol. Good job!
What rig are you guys using!??
Whay depth were you fishing around?
❤
Hey, how do you mount your transducer to your canoe?
What area of lakes please, planning my trip for 2024 and am not looking for trout
Good video how you like that sportspal canoe? Maybe you can do a in depth on it I'm leaning towards buying one.
The next Johntario!!
cool!!!! wish I could fly like that
awesome vid
Off of kiosk or booth 👌🏼 nice fishing! Heading there this weekend in hopes of some luck myself
Hello mr canoe man. I am a 67 year old fart and saw some or your adventures in the area. I am totally new to fishing in eastern ontario. Would it be possible for you to pm me i would like to chat
You should do a video of your canoe setup, good video.
Awesome I get quite a few questions about rowing the sportspal on my channel. I will be sending them this video link. Great video
Thanks so much! I love that you can row it so nice for jigging while solo fishing!
Awesome seeing a Sportspal in the wild. Good job and Cheers From the North
yeah! I love taking out the Sportspal into back lakes for fishing! Thanks!
Well done, solid effort boating some nice Lakers 👍
Thanks!
Hey guys! Just found your channel. Looks like you are having a lot of fun. I know walleye are not common in Algionquin. Would you mind sharing which lake?
what time of year was this?
What weight are you jigging with?
Heading to the park at the end of August. Which lake did you catch your trout in? You guys did a great job. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comment! Sorry, won't say what lakes but hope you had some good luck with the lakers!
what bait are you using for the trout?
I was using a silver and gold spoon on a 3-way rig and my buddy was using spoons as well
What weight and what depth do you reckon you were at?
Do you remember what lakes you were on?
Another great video, loved it! :) How did you film the paddle-by shot, that one was awesome!
rock was sticking out of the water made a nice place to put the camera!
@@thecanoefisherman9642 oooo perfect! Noice! 👌🏻🤟🏻
Good young fisherman with a nice sportspal setup. Will need a real canoe soon for real trips
Thanks! what canoes do you consider to be a real canoes? 😂
@@thecanoefisherman9642 Any sort of prospector type design. I have a 16.5 ft langford nahanni ultralight that is fast and portages easily at 43 lbs. Also have an ultralight bob special from nova craft at 15 ft that is 37 lbs . These canoes will get you into Algonquin where the big ones are .
@@alexs3447 Wow those are some nice canoes! Ya, those are definitely much better for portaging mine weighs like 50 ish Ibs at 14ft. I took my sports pal into Algonquin although hard it can be done haha caught some nice fish too!
@@thecanoefisherman9642 Before those canoes I owned a 60lb ,16 ft fiberglass canoe. Took it on a few trips into Algonquin.Where are you located? You might want to borrow the nahanni. Its a fast canoe and should get a tandem team in where the big ones are
@@alexs3447 I'm from Kingston, that sounds like a much nicer portaging canoe!
Dont put your fingers in their gills. It can kill them. I went to this same lake last year. Our best was a 7 pounder.
Ya thanks, I've learned since then, didn't know how delicate they were when I first started fishing for them.
I have to ask, when I jig Lakers I try to “video game” fish. Do you just let your lure hit bottom and jig blindly as you drift?
depends, If there's a sharp drop off and I can't see much on the fish finder I jig it up and down while slowly reeling up to cover most of the bottom depths, but If I can easily see them on the fish finder I'll be constantly watching them to see how they react and I'll jig a bit above them and if they start chasing the lure I'll reel up and they'll usually hit it while chasing up! They're one of my favorite fish to go for, Ill be doing a bunch more fishing for them when the season opens in May and I'll be posting videos about it!
@@thecanoefisherman9642 thanks a lot for the info. Could you make an instructional video on how to locate them/jigging cadence and all that good stuff? I’m pretty much completely self taught and I have 90% of it down but I just need some fine tuning. One more question for you is how do you cope with drift? I lose my bait on the finder when I drift so I usually only go for Lakers during early morning and late evening when there’s no wind. Problem with that is time on the water is very limited.
Landed my first laker this summer from my canoe. Got a Charlie horse mid fight in my quad and had to lay down in the boat. When I finally got the fish beside the boat my leader snaps. I grabbed the tail and hung on for dear life. I forgot my net back at the campsite and I’m trying to get this fish in the boat (I am by myself). After about 5 minutes of trying to get this fish in the boat I manage to get it over the gunnels and Into the boat. 14lbs 39” laker.
wow, that's quite the story! 😆 , and fish too! Good job! Can't believe you were able to hold onto the tail and get him the boat! I only started fishing for Lakers last year and my three biggest lakers are all 6Ibs! but I've learned a lot and my goal is to try and catch 10+ pounder this year. Did you catch it jigging or trolling? I've mostly caught mine jigging.
Eh! The b-roll sequence in its final form looks awesome!
haha thanks, had fun messing around with that.
Carl Wilson?
No, this lake is a smaller one, more in the park a few portages to get to.
@@thecanoefisherman9642 lol... nice fish tho..
@@calebvincent373 Thanks! Hopefully, I can go up there again this summer, might try Carl Wilson for some lakers.
@@thecanoefisherman9642 Yes for sure.. I’ve done very well for lakers and brookies in Carl Wilson..
Respect the canoe grind bro, walleye don’t run like that though, knew it was a drum, great fish still
Thanks! Ya Haha I know I was just getting overly excited 😂.
This soundtrack is fantastic, best music I've ever heard
Big fish me like :)
Everytime the fish jumped I jumped 😂
Is thos silent lake in bancroft.

I loved this!! The fishy close ups were amazing!
I am taking my son for camping at silent lake this wknd, hoping to get some fish there. We will also go to Buck horn lakes for fishing. Hope my son will have a good experience there. He is only 14 and loves to fish.
Putting in work out there. Nice job.
Great fishing, and never fished for bowfin, yet looks like a great fighter. Keep up the great adventures.
Eric brown That would be Awesome!
Damn man that was a monster!
Man, I need to catch one of these! Don't understand why people don't liking fishing them! Subbed, throw a sub or view back our way if ya can! Tight lines.
