The swingingq bells are part of the Carrilon and the heaviest bells are known as bourdon bells, they were cast by Gillett and Johnston of Croydon UK. They are harmonically tuned bells which is why they sound amazing. There is also 10 chiming bells which are hung dead, so ie dont swing, these were cast by the Whitechapel bell foundry of Londoon in 1908. However there is another peal of English Change ringing bells cast by Taylors of Loughborough in 2022

I studied and worked on The University of Chicago campus for 25 years, and most every day I heard the carillon of Rockefeller Chapel and the change ringing of the bells of Mitchell Tower (awesome trebble bobbing!). Lord forgive me, but I took their beautiful and sonorous peels for granted. Now I have been away from the University for more than 25 years, and even until now, not a day goes by that I still don't miss the bells. Crescat scientia; vita excolatur!
