Love the pod and love to hear that you loved sunset because I did not 😂. I think the musical itself is kind of bad, but i went in intrigued to find out why the fuck nicole was covered in blood. And i left still confused as to why she was covered in blood 😂. I felt like this production was very gimmicky. I understood most of the artistic choices but about 45% of them worked for me. I understand that this production is more of a nightmare rather than a linear story, however I felt like most of the gimmicks were for the sake of being a gimmick rather than serving the story. I was fascinated to hear that the finale sequence worked on you two, because when they were just running around I had to stifle a chuckle because the only thing running through my mind was the “why are you running” meme… that said, as soon as the murder happened I was on board again.

Those tickets were a STEAL. how much for the Cabaret one with the pre-show?

Great episode ladies! I loved the Shaw musical, but the ending kind of ruined it for me. I wanted an updated ending. Shaw does a lovely job of providing classics as they were originally meant to be seen though, so no surprise.

I agree about the gag/comedy musicals! I see both shows every year, and while I enjoy the comedy, the other show is generally more of a favourite! I would also love to see more interviews with Stratford actors! I feel like I learn a lot when I watch those eps from you!

Great job ladies! A couple of points - The current photos of CAA Mirvish Theatre on the website are not accurate, as they are still from the Harry Potter setup. The Cursed child had the Mezzanine ending in row P, but seats for the current shows go back to row W. Lastly, the reason they didn't just remake the movie is that Tina Turner gave an interview to Rolling Stone and said there were numerous things in the film that took creative licenses that she didn't agree with. She said the musical was more her story. I agree with many of your comments about the musical. I heard about your podcast on a reddit thread and checked it out. This was my first episode and I'm now subscribed.

I flew to NYC with ticket in hand for Lempicka. An art deco lesbian love story, an original musical starring Eden Espinosa and directed by Rachel Chavkin?!?! Are you kidding, I'm in. I have rarely been so disappointed. First Eden was out the night I attended, which did not initiate a positive start. Second the staging, choreography and all the design work was stellar! Stellar!! But third damn was that book bad- so poorly paced, derivative, incongruous- and the score imo was so forgettable.

Excited for an episode on 2004! Have you guys watched the documentary Show Business: The Road to Broadway that was filmed BTS at Wicked, Avenue Q, Taboo, and Caroline or Change. Essential.

This show took over a decade of prep to reach the stage and it costs them around a million dollars per week to put on, so it's absolutely not a cash grab. If Bob Gale wanted that, he would have sold the BTTF franchise off to Disney or something. This musical is made with love for the fans of the trilogy. It is very much a passion project for Bob Gale (along with Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard) who can often be seen sitting in the audience of the West End and Broadway productions. Roger Bart is GOATed and can do whatever the heck he likes as far as I'm concerned. 😄 He's the only actor totally doing his own thing rather than an impression and "IT WORKS" for me. I did fly over from the UK, but because I had to book six months in advance, I just had to take a chance on which cast members would be in the show. It turned out that Roger was indeed on holiday the night we had bought front row seats for, but the box office allowed us to exchange those tickets for an earlier show when Roger was on. So I cannot speak highly enough of this production, its cast, crew and theatre staff. It's not for everyone, but as a lifelong BTTF fan it is most definitely for me. 😊⚡

I saw Gutenberg last night and it was truly fantastic. It’s a comedic show about making a musical, the book is hilarious and the score is very catchy. Josh and Andrew were great. I highly recommend it

I was just watching your podcast, thanks for a super good podcast, but I have a few corrections for you, Alisha Weir was 10 years old when she was cast but due to covid it took time from when she was cast until the filming started, she was 11 years old when she got the role and was 11 - 12 years old during filming and she is 13 years old now, Alisha received dialect lessons before the filming begav, so that she could perform with a British dialect during filming.

I love hearing y'alls predictions, I think that there is going to be at least one out of the blue acting nomination for 1776, and Sweeny Todd is taking Scenic design hands down, you cant go wrong with Mimi Lien
