One should definitely use skyway which connects dharamshala and mcleodganj not just for transit but for immense mesmerizing scenery!

I went to Dharamshala and Mcleodganj in Nov '23. I was travelling solo and actually landed there completely unplanned. I got a nice budget hotel with a view of the Dhauladhar range for just 800 per night. took the shared taxi to Mcleodganj. explored the main street till Dalai Lama temple on foot. took lift to and fro tourist points. only for Naddi point i took an auto for Rs. 300 which even brought me back to the main Dolma chowk. Entire Dharamshala too I kept taking lifts from point 1 to the other. the stadium, tea gardens, Norbulingka temple and back to my hotel was completely by taking lifts on 2 wheelers. Mountain people are very kind and considerate and understand the difficulties of travelling in public transport. Tibetans especially are extremely generous. I hardly spent 3000 for my entire trip to Dharamshala and Mcleodganj including stay food, sight seeing and small momento shopping. This is just for solo travellers like me who are on a budget. Never hesitate to ask for lifts on 2 wheelers. 90 % of times you get it. so you save the cost of scooty too and travelling with locals gives you a better idea of the place. Between November to March is off season time becs of winters. but trust me November and March months in particular are very comfortable. its not biting cold just about 10-15 degrees temperature. Dec, Jan Feb are the coldest but there are tourists in Dec for the new year celebrations in the snow. best part about travelling off season is hotels are very cheap. you will easily get a room with hot water and a view for under Rs.1000 per night.
