The Transporters University of Truck Driving: pre inspection.
Pre-Inspection Procedure at Transporters University of Truck Driving
At Transporters University of Truck Driving, we emphasize the importance of a thorough pre-trip inspection for every semi-truck driver to ensure safety, compliance, and optimal vehicle performance. Our pre-inspection training prepares students to systematically evaluate key vehicle components before hitting the road.
Key Steps in the Pre-Inspection:
1. Walk-Around Inspection:
- Start by conducting a thorough visual check around the entire semi, including the trailer. Look for any visible damage or hazards, such as broken lights, torn mud flaps, or any objects on or around the truck that could pose a danger.
2. Tires and Wheels:
- Check tire condition and tread depth, ensuring tires are properly inflated and free of cuts, bulges, or foreign objects.
- Inspect the wheel rims for cracks or damage and check lug nuts for tightness to prevent wheel detachment.
3. Lights and Reflectors:
- Ensure all lights are working, including headlights, brake lights, turn signals, clearance lights, and hazard lights.
- Check that all reflectors are clean and visible to enhance visibility during night operations.
4. Brakes and Air System:
- Test the brake system by checking for air pressure in the braking system and inspecting for any air leaks.
- Examine brake lines, hoses, and pads for signs of wear or damage.
- Ensure the air brake system holds pressure and is responsive.
5. Engine and Fluids:
- Check oil, coolant, and windshield washer fluid levels.
- Inspect belts, hoses, and the engine compartment for any visible leaks or damage.
6. Windshield and Wipers:
- Examine the windshield for cracks or chips.
- Ensure the wipers are in good working condition, and the windshield washer system is functioning.
7. Suspension and Steering:
- Inspect suspension components, including springs and shock absorbers, to ensure they are in proper condition.
- Test steering components for smooth operation and ensure there’s no excessive play in the steering wheel.
8. Coupling System (for Tractor-Trailer)
- Inspect the fifth wheel for proper attachment to the trailer, ensuring the lock is secure and the connection is free from debris.
- Verify that the trailer is properly balanced and the pin or latch is in good condition.
9. Cargo Securement:
- Confirm that all loads are properly secured with appropriate tie-downs, straps, and tarps (if applicable). Make sure cargo is balanced to prevent shifting.
10. Documentation and Compliance Check:
- Ensure all required documents are available, including the truck registration, insurance, driver’s license, and any permits. Check that all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and warning triangles, is present and functional.
Training Approach:
Our instructors guide students through each step of the pre-inspection process, providing hands-on training and real-world scenarios. Students will learn how to identify potential issues and understand the critical role these inspections play in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient operation. By the end of the training, each student will be able to confidently perform a complete pre-trip inspection and recognize the signs of any potential hazards or failures.
At Transporters University of Truck Driving, we ensure that students develop a proactive mindset, making safety and proper vehicle maintenance a cornerstone of their professional driving careers.

The new parallel parking alert system is a great idea as my granddaughter when intending to parallel park activates a purple flashing beacon on the roof of the car accompanied by a recorded repeating verbal announcement , ( security, security, security, this vehicle intends to change position, please keep clear ) the combined flashing spinning purple lamp along with the repeating verbal announcement broadcasted through a loud speaker system helps other road users understand that her vehicle is performing a restricted movement stop and park exercise.

Literally the first thing I was ever taught was not to ever turn the wheel without moving 😂. Dig holes in the road and flat spot your tires
It's a dirt lot. After they get the concept of it, then we move on to the next step 😂
The last "person" i will ever take driving advice from
Best Maestro Everrrrr😂🎉
Flat spot them steer tires in a heartbeat sitting still. Then you have steering wheel shake going down the highway very dangerous!!!
Uhhh huh?
That's how you wreck your tyres.... That's why people turn while moving....

President Joe Biden stated in a 2019 interview that "Every trucker out there with an eighth grade education or a high school education knows they're likely not to have a job in the next three, four, five years."
Love that Trasporter,Good Guy❤
I don't even make no sense.Because a long time ago he could not even see the cones
Makes no sense no matter how you look at it. In what situation would you need to pull up within 3 feet of something without the ability to get out and look? G.O.A.L.! I’ve had my Class A since 2003 and have never ran across this scenario in the real world. In traffic you pull up to the vehicle in front of you until the bottom of their tires are even with the top of your hood. Same thing with crosswalks and limit lines. This method puts you over 3 feet away and leaves you an out. So this “test” wouldn’t apply there. I’m at a loss. Not to mention if you made him do this in a Freightliner then a Volvo then a KW he’d stop in different places every time because the POV of each truck is different. Which means his perception of the distance will be different. So unless you drive the EXACT same truck you test in and never change this method won’t help you there either. Still at a loss.
At the MTA Nationals in Columbus 1998 I blew a top 5 position because of the exact same thing.
He what???
Now parallel park that rig.
Check out the other videos its there.
Now do it between 2 trucks. Every time you succeed park those trucks a foot or 2 closer.
You mean alley dock? That's easy. I'll upload a video later.
