May 17, 2020. We were supposed to have been in Norway today but obviously had to cancel our trip because of the pandemic. So we had a Syttende Mai parade anyway in our neighborhood in Los Angeles.

I love this clip. Seems like both are having a great time
So when is Charles getting his job at the United Nations? :)
❤❤❤❤❤ Happy birthday to one of my favorite customers Tommy Dix, best baritone. Miss him.
Awwww❤
Dick Cavett! Who told him he could sing?!
at this point - great vocal longevity and energy - plus I think she looked better than when young - (her disco lp is over at the "archive")
The standard to which all others follow she is simply unimitatiable
Ich liebe Rita!!
Incredible. A lifelong memory in the making.
Wow, this is impressive!!!
Prevod
This movie was made decades after I was born & I wish I was alive when Rita Hayworth movies were first coming out. I heard she was such a grand sensation & men were crazy about her as a pin-up doll & after the film Gilda came out. Anybody who was alive in her movie days are REALLY lucky. Thank you for this summary of another wonderful Rita movie.
Such an underrated film! It’s my favorite Rita film! She was wonderful, beautiful, funny, dramatic, and romantic! 100/10!🥹🤗❤️
❤️
What in the world did I just watch?
😂😂I love Rita Hayworth films but this was totally odd.
So many shaved heads with expensive perfumes show that it seems worth imitating them.../Столько выбритышей с дорогущими парфюмами показывают что как будто стоит им подражать...
Lindo filme
What an expensive perfume is needed to stand next to such a woman that you're fucking crazy.../Какой дорогой парфюм нужен чтоб возле такой женщины стоять что охереешь...
Hubba hubba!
Она являлась в свое время символом Америки, взошедшая на Олимп Голливуда благодаря влиянию мужа, но имея талант и красоту и утонченность богини достойно заняла одно из первых мест ведущих актрис американской киноиндустрии
Rita en uno de sus mejores films. ❤️❤️
мужей меняла как перчатки she changed husbands like gloves/
Porquê não colocam esses filmes dublados que saco essa língua

This was really a clever film as a follower of "Here Comes Mr. Jordan", with a twist making it a musical/comedy/drama with Rita, again at her best, dancing and looking so beautiful portraying Terpsichore. Teaming her up with Larry Parks was a perfect match, plus the usual comedy provided by Edward Everett Horton and James Gleason. The scene of the listening to the radio of the horserace is a great piece of comedy. This is one film that is definitely very enjoyable.
Wow! They broke the mold after she was born!
An Angel walked among us ❤
She played the Greek Goddess Terpsichore. Cute movie.
She was born Margarita Cansino, in Brooklyn, NY. She was of Spanish descent. The studio decided to change her black hair to red and her hairline was lifted through electrolysis to give her a more “all American girl” look. She was beautiful.
They did brake the mold after Rita. She really was a flawless beauty & an incomparable dancer, a excellent actress with great comedic skills Rita was mesmerizing in the dance scene where she ‘s in a green dress. Wooftah!
She deserved to be happy 😢
Well done, Charles! 😊
Recycling the costumes from Jason and the Argonauts.
Larry parks played al Jolson too
What a shame someone so sexy and beautiful and talented was so screwed up in the head from her father allegedly
Incretible perfomence
Unvelivebebol girl
Stupenda!
Hayworth was born Margarita Cansino to a Spanish father and an Irish-American mother, and when she made her way to Hollywood in the 1930's she was subjected to an exhaustive makeover that eliminated most traces of her ethnicity...Hollywood🙄😈
Her mother was also of English descent
Rita bellísima, única.
I love how Ethel knew how to play off dick cavett’s nervousness and really could make a performance entertaining! Even the way she taps on his shoulder to give him the downbeat is just wonderful
Ethel ruined the song with her usual nasal yeow, ngeow, yeoow singing, she's also ahead of tempo/rythm at times.so annoying!
What nonsense.
You like her or you don't.
Two greats in their own right.
Cavett is cute but Merman is her usual loud self
That's a tough song to sing, especial with someone who's voice is as strong as Merman's.
Ethel has a strong voice? I never noticed.
Great! We need more Merman now!
We sang this in a pantomime in 1953 in Argosy's Queen of Hearts
Gratulerer med dagen!
LOVE the video, and LOVE you Léah! Happy Birthday!
Thank you for this
Adorable. Ethel beats the rhythm of the cross singing on his back and carefully matches him! Not bad!
I updated my profile picure
