I don’t know what to make of the ending. Edna’s journey seemed, real. As though one was living right through her. And even tho it was set in time hundreds of years ago, what feels strange is that those social conventions albeit now evolved still exist. People, especially woman HAVE to adhere to those societal norms to have a reputation. The writing is so so perfect, so good that one feels what Edna feels despite not being even able to relate w her marital relationship or her stance as a mother. But maybe the ending did in a sense give her the full freedom which her soul yearned for, something she wouldn’t have gotten whilst living. PS- Great narration.

Apologies- slight variation the term hands-down comes from the daily racing form, describing the victory of the winning jockeys actions on the horse usually, they are urging a horse on and using a crop etc but if they are winning easily then their ‘hands are down’ was noted for no urgency
